Writing A Small Application That Downloads Some Files Over Ftp?

I'm writing a small application that downloads some files over ftp, the incoming directory is monitored by FileSystemWatcher_Created, on creation I want to extract some text from the file and call another application with the text as parameters the problem I have is the FileSystemWatcher_Created procedure is triggered before the file has finished downloading, I could download it elsewhere and move into the monitored directory but some of the files may be quite large and Im wondering if there is an efficient way of waiting until the file is ready? along the same lines what is the best way to queue the tasks as there can be many files coming it at one time, I've looked at threading but would that be suitable for such a task as there will still be a bottleneck at the application called by FileSystemWatcher_Created ?

I have written a VB.NET (2005) service that is using My.Application.Log to write log entries to a FileLogTraceListener. I have configured the Listener in app.config to write the log file to the executable file's directory by using
location="ExecutableDirectory"
When the service runs, it writes log entries just fine, but they are not in the executable file's folder, but rather in Documents and SettingsLocalServiceApplicationData....1.0.0.0mylog.log
Why is the location parameter not being honored?
Here is the complete system.diagnostics section from my app.config.

I'm using this code to delete all the downloads from the download folder.

This app is just for me to use.The reason why i'm making this app is because i downlaod a lot a files and i want an easier way to delete them.

making a simple web browser for work eeh, what like to know is if its possible to save a file of a particular extension to a particular file.I currently use googels chrome when downloading a file it places this (regardless of extension) in a downloads folder without asking where I ant to download this too.

Ok I know this question has been asked to death but I still have not seen a good answer. I have created an application in VS2010 using VB.NET. In my application I have an error log that is an XML file located in the Public gstLocalErrorLogLocation As String = Application.StartupPath & "ErrorLog"that gets written to in the event of an error so I can trouble shoot application easier. My application also downloads files from our FTP site and puts the files in Public gstLocalDownloadLocation As String = Application.StartupPath & "download"So I have files that get read and written to as well and created and deleted all in the Application.StartupPath which is either "c:Program Files(Application Directory)(Some Directory)(Some File)" or "c:Program Files (x86)(Application Directory)(Some Directory)(Some File)" depending on 32bit or 64bit Windows 7.
After creating the setup I install it on my test machine that have both Windows 7 32bit and 64bit.Everything in the application works great till I have to write to, delete or creat a file in those directories above. I know it is an access issue and the UAC. This will get installed on numerous systems so the options I have seen to change file or folder permission on the computers manually is not an option.What has to happen is after I install the application it just works like when you install it on XP. Some post have suggested that you us a user with administrator privilages or group which is all fine and dandy but the user I have used to test the application has all of that.
So what I am asking is how do you create an application with VS2010 in VB.NET that after creating a setup package and installing on Windows 7 will just work with out "Access to the path c:Program Files(Application Directory)(Some Directory)(Some File) is denied." If I have to install this on 100 Windows 7 computers it has to be a concreate no manually doing anything just install and work like when we installed on XP.

i am trying to make a small program to encrypt files using AES, and then have the password from the AES encrypted using RSA for its use of public keys. i've got the AES part working fine and i found a good RSA tutorial here url....but after i encrypt the AES password (which is saved in a .txt file) using RSA, then i try to decrypt it again, it comes out as an empty .txt file!

I'm having trouble getting started with this application I need to do. Here are the details:
Its an application to calculate student grades for a group project. Create a text file to store names of 5 students, line by line. In a separate file enter peer evaluations from 0 to 1.0. Enter these numbers for evaluations:
1.0, 0.8, 0.9, 1.0, 0.6
0.2, 0.9, 0.5, 0.6, 0.7
0.5, 1.0, 1.0, 1.5, 0.9
0.9, 0.9, 0.9, 1.0, 1.0
1.0, 0.9, 1.0, 0.8, 0.9
This means that student 1 gave 1.0 evaluation for himself , 0.8 for student 2, 0.9 for student 3 etc.Student 2 gave 0.2 for student 1, 0.9 for him- herself, 0.5 for student 3 etc. Read these into a 2-dimensional array. If any of the values is greater than 1.0, set them to 1.0. The program should calculate the average evaluation for a student. While doing so, the program should ignore evaluations that student gave to him-herself. Populate a list box with student names when the form loads. The user should enter a project grade (same for everyone) in a textbox. Then the user can select a student from a list and click �Calculate� button. The program should display the project grade for that student by multiplying average evaluation by the grade for the whole group (project grade).

I'm trying to build a small application that will automatically visit a few websites. The list of the websites I want to be stored inside a txt file like:
website1.com
website2.com
website3.com
and when I press the "Start" button, my application will open the websites from the txt file, one by one with a delay of 10 or more seconds before loading the next website, in a webbrowser control.

I want to know how to start a forum hidden. I know I can just add Me.Hide() to the Window_Loaded event, But it's ugly. The user sees the form for a split second then it dissapears. I want to form to start up hidden. Little background on my program, it is a small taskbar application, Has a small notify icon. When the app is loaded. I only want the notify icon to be visible. I'm creating a simple forms application where users can enter their details and save the information to a .ini file because I needed this for a simple game profile. I've tried to make it write "Name =" + txtname.Text but it won't work anymore. And as well as that, I don't think It will load the text back from the ini file.

Basically I'm writing a program that records all the financial transactions I make. You type in what it is, whether it is going in or out, the date and the price. I will get on to adding the sums up later but that's important at the minute. With one record the program worked perfectly but as soon as I added an array to the records variable it stopped working and complained about a null value.

I'm working on a program where i need to create a text file and write in it. I created the file and I'm capable to write in it but my problem is that i'm not able to write text on the same line. Imagine you have 2 textboxes, the first is tb1 and the second is tb2. how can i write then content of the 2 textboxes on the same line in the text file?

seeing as '.dat' files contain only what you want them to and there is no preset encryption for them etc could I write data to one by using this simple process:
1) Change file extension to '.txt'
2) Decrypt
3) Write
4) Encrypt
5) Change file extension to '.dat'
and pretty much the same for reading it. or am I thinking to simply?
I thought of the above way as i know how to write to text files already, but is this the best way to do it? or is there a better way?
EDIT: Nevermind you just write to it like a text file and encrypt/decrypt it. request lock/delete from mod.
