I have a problem writing dates from VB2010 into SQL2008.
I am forming DateofBirth from Comboboxes using DateSerial, so far so good.
DateOfBirth=DateSerial(DobYear, DobMonth, DobDay)
MsgBox(DateofBirth) displays the date as DD/MM/YYYY, as I would expect in the UK.
But, SQL is expecting the date in MM/DD/YYYY format. When the DD is below 12 the variable writes in the database, albeit with DD and MM the wrong way round. As soon as DD goes above 12, the program halts with an SQLException, obviously because SQL knows that MM can't be higher than 12.
I am going round in circles trying to work out the method to ensure that the date variable in the SQL INSERT statement is in the right format.

How can I do it inside vb2010? In class or form? which 1 is recommended?

I am writing an app in VB2010. My code parses a text file, assigns data to variables My??, and then attempts to store this data in an access 2010 (actually access 2007 format) table. Yet, whenever my code gets to MyRow.Item("Artist") = MyArtist I get an error 5 'Artist' does not belong to Table MyTable, but the field/column does exist in the table as do all the others.

I have a VB6 application that is accessing an sql server 2008 database using odbc. The application also accesses an ACCESS database. How can I create a temporary table in my ACCESS database using a table from the SQL database. I have tried the following:

I'm using VS2010 and SQLServer 2008. I'm trying to test for DBNull in datafields, but every formulation of a test I have imagined (or found) throws an error. Specifically,"The value for column 'ColumnName' in table 'TableName' is DBNull." (system.data.strongTypingException).Well, not too helpful. I am currently creating an application to track timekeeping (a clock in/out system) and I am trying to work out the best way to do this.
I have a Main Form which contains buttons to ;
- Log in - Out for Break - In from Break - Log out
When a user presses the "log in" button the logon form appears, the user then enters their username and password. What happens next is where I would like the help.
Process is as follows:Click Logon Enter Username/Password Check Logon Form for errors (eg no password etc) Check User is in Database (using SQL query) If user is in DB and username and pass are ok then refer back to the main form to perform Stored Procedure for what the user wants to do (eg logon or or out for break etc). Set label on main form to show user as logged on My question is should I be using a public variable and calling the main form again or in the user logon form having 4 options and using an IF ELSE to select the appropriate Stored Procedure?
I would like to pull a set of records in a SQL sproc by passing in a list of system.guid and also by passing in a list of integer keys.I can put the guids ihto a string, of course, but the question is - how do I quote the test values so they are recognized as UIDs by SQLIn essence I was to DECLARE @pklist AS VARCHAR(1000)-- This would look like "'45F4AE2A-D27C-D711-83FD-0008C7FA9683','EC824D02-D37C-D711-83FD-0008C7FA9683','BA8E4D02-D37C-D711-83FD-0008C7FA9683'" coming out of the execsql from vb .net - I think :-) but it seems it needs to look likeSET @pklist = '45F4AE2A-D27C-D711-83FD-0008C7FA9683,EC824D02-D37C-D711-83FD-0008C7FA9683,BA8E4D02-D37C-D711-83FD-0008C7FA9683'SELECT * from dbo.members WHERE members.cpk IN (@pklist)This only returns the record matching the first UID in the string. I'm using two datetimepicker controls to set the start and end dates for a range of dates I'm searching for.I want to make sure that the start date selected is not greater than the end date. This code works, but it runs the messagebox prompt twice for some reason. I've tried to ignore it from doing this, but it's not working. Can someone tell me what's wrong?

I have one more problem with MonthControl.And when I bold some dates the program doesn't show bold dates on month calendar.When I move on next or previous month and get back to currently month the program normal displays bold dates. What's the problem?
Most conversion tools will still use VB6 syntax And so don't many people coming to .NET from VB6 - drives me nuts.Rewrite your program from scratch using all .NET syntax and not legacy VB6 syntax still supported in the .NET world.

im using visual basic 2010 express and im wanting to know how i can display the CPU usage (over all CPU usage like you would find on the task manager), the RAM usage, the temperature, and the frames per second all in separate list boxes.I have searched around on the internet for a long time looking for the code's to do this, none seem to be compatible with the 2010 express version.

I am creating an RTF file programatically so that user input can be formatted and I can control the font.There's two problems:
1. vbNewLine doesn't seem to work. I've also tried vbCrLf and that doesn't work either. I just want to introduce another blank line and not sure why it's not working.
2. Is there a way to use tab print positions to format things so they're not all just aligned left, center or right? (like tab(20); something etc..)

But for some reason I unable to debug it. I place a breakpoint on the line Snake(i).X = (120 - 20 * i) and When I try to see what the values are the second time the loop iterates it simply exits the loop.

I have a DLL that I made in FORTRAN to do some number crunching. It works in VB6 and in VBA within Excel. But I cannot get it to work in VB2008 or VB2010. If I try to access it the subroutines in the DLL I get either, 1) Structure of DLL invalid error or 2) Cannot find the DLL error.
Here is my VB2010 code for a smaller demo app that came with the FORTRAN development system. Again, this works with VB6 and VBA but not with VB.net

I created a program using VB 2008 to aid me on design work-related calculations that uses Access mdb file for displaying info. and calculations. But I experienced an alarming problem when I converted it to VB 2010 The program execution works in VB 2010 but it can't display the data from an mdb database file.
To simplify and simulate the problem, I created a simple identical program in VB 2008 and VB 2010 showing a window that displays a data extracted from an mdb database file. Both programs run as intended in each environment. When I open the VB 2008 created program under VB 2010, VB 2010 converts it and when I run the program, it doesn't display the data at all.
I just converted my project from vb6 to vb2010 and am getting this error
