I am having problems with debugging with VS2005 when I press F5 an error occurs saying "Page cannot be displayed" I don't really know what happened maybe the latest windows patch screwed my VS2005.

I have got a serious problem and I cant solve it. Images on my form are not displayed during debugging. When I build the application, there is no problem. But in debug mode no images are displayed. What can I do about it?

View 8 RepliesI am using <%@ MasterType virtualpath="~/__.Master" %> to embed my master page content into child page to access control belong to Master Page. I have one DropDownList in Master page. And I want to access its SelectedValue in my Child Page.
Problem is when page first time loads and as I am trying to access DropDownList's Selected Value by writing in child Page - "Master.DropDownList.SelectedValue". I am not able to get DropDownList's Value. Its display's Blank.
But When Page.IsPostBack I am able to get SelectedValue of that DropDownList.
I have been writing a program in vb(in visual studio 2008) for 5 months now. Today i went to publish it and went through the publish wizard. It worked fine but now i can't debug my program in visual studio. I hit the debug button it starts and completes the build and the does not do anything. Is their some thing that i may have unknowingly changed when i published the program? Or a setting that i need to change now that i have published the program?

View 6 RepliesI've been assigned a web app written in VB using VStudio.net 2003. I am trying to configure the source on my localhost (VStudio 2008) so I can explore and learn about the current app (before I begin any real changes) and I cannot get debugging working for the web service project(s).
Symptom 1: "Unable to automatically step into the server. The remote procedure could not be debugged. This usually indicates that debugging has not been enabled on the server. See help for more information". This happens when I try to F11 (stepInto) the proxy class which invokes my actual web method.
Symptom 2: Pre-setting a breakpoint in my .asmx file code on the statement that will be invoked does not work (i.e. the debugger simply doesn't stop). Having described the situation, here's how my VStudio Solution is configured: Service1 - project created from the VB - WEB - ASP.NET Web Service Application template; this Service1 project contains my main .asmx source code I want to debug. It run smoothly for the first time,but when I execute it for the second time,it occured the following errors:Unable to copy file "obj\Debug\FYP.exe" to "bin\Debug\FYP.exe". The process cannot access the file 'bin\Debug\FYP.exe' because it is being used by another process.
I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered this in visual studio 2008. I'm writing an asp.net app and when I run through debug it's jumping all over the place. It skips certain lines, at least it appears to, then it jumps to the bottom of the page and repeats the same line a few times then jumps to a separate sub I have in there. The weird thing, besides its behavior, is that it's not grabbing a piece of information that exists in one column but is grabbing another one. So anyone else encountered this? What's the fix.
To give a more detailed example it did this on the last debug. I started the breakpoint at line 40. It went to 43 with no problem then jumps to line 66, an end sub line, it then proceeds to go on to the private sub directly below it. That includes it going over the blank lines that would normally be skipped. It goes through the entire private sub line by line including a catch ex line but it displays no error. After hitting that line it immediately returns to line 46 of the sub that it already passed by the end sub line. It then goes down 2 more lines jumps back to the private sub it just left and repeats the end sub line 3 times, only the b at the end is highlighted when doing this not the whole line.

The field is bound to a datetimepicker control.The problem is if I click the Add button on the navigator a new record is displayed and the dtp shows the current date. But if I then save the record the date is not saved to the database.If I go into the dtp control and select a date, it saves the date just fine.
View 4 RepliesI recently moved my Application that was running off of Window XP and created in VS 2005 over to a box that's running Windows7.Now, when I try to debug, I can't edit. In the lower portion of the screen, it gives me this error: Cannot currently modify this text in the editor. It is read only.
Under Tools->Options->Debugging, Edit and Continue are already selected; so it's something else. Also, under project properties->compile I have it set to Cofiguration (Active Debug) and Platform (Active Any CPU).

When in the degug mode stepping through code a line at a time, I want to monitor a variable that was created public on another form. It adds the request, but won't shoe me the data. It says I have to ahve an object reference. I don't know what it wants exzactly or how to give it. Here is an example:
I have on form 1 one a variable, Crec. I am in the debugger debugging code in form 2. To access the variable on form one in my code on form 2, I have to use this syntax: form1.crec Now when I put this quickwatch request in, while debugging form 2, it will not let me see the value for form1.Crec It says I need an object reference. Can you tell me I am doing wrong and how to correct it? I'm sure it something simple.
I've used VS2005 where there was an option to basically break into the code via menuitem on the debug menu. I can't exactly remember what it was called although I seem to think it was "break all". I know this has something to do with the setup/layout/whatever MS called it, I picked when I first installed VS. I went into the options and couldn't find a way to enable it. It is disabled if you enable "edit and continue" or something?

View 2 RepliesA problem has started recently - I'm developing an ASP.NET application and when I click 'Start Debugging', it builds and opens a web page, but not where I can set breakpoints or step through the code. From within Visual Studio, it looks as if it's not running after the web page opens.
If I restart the computer, it works the first time or 2, but after a while it starts doing that again. Also, I'm using RDP to access my work computer to do my work. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it, because I didn't notice this happening the last time I went to the office.

View 1 Repliesi am using visual studio 2005 on win 7 with office 2007.i have developed win application. i am using microsoft activex spreadsheet component in my program. so it automatically creates reference to AxInterop.OWC11.dll But when i run program in debug mode (open program and click RUN in toolbar it works) it works. But if i run directly .exe (go to bin release doubleclick .exe) it gives error at loading point of that component. It says "Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory has been corrupted." An unhandled exception occurrs.AxInterop.OWC11.dll is in release directory.Is this office 2007 error or Win 7 ?
