(Q)Collecting The Cursors Position, And Moving It?
Nov 14, 2009
I'm working on an app, this is my third or fourth, but this one is throwing me for a loop(I'm in no way trained in VB btw...)Here's a pic of the app:
The whole point is to use the "<" & ">" buttons to move the cursor left and right. When you do, it highlights a single character as it moves. Then, once you select a color button, it adds a special character BEFORE the highlighter character.
I want to change my form Cursors to custom Cursors I add a Cursor file in my project but i don't know how can i change the Cursor.I'm using VS 2005 .net Professional.
I have two windows forms and I need to get the changing mouse position at the same time in the next form. I am using a function in the mouse move event to invoke the next form too ,so how should i properly do that
I have a progressbar, ok cool. Is there a way to get the moving bar's right edge position relative to the form or the progressbar itself? I think even a screen position would be helpful. I'm just trying to have a label with some text in it that moves in sync above the progressbar control as the progressbar progresses.
I'm making a quiz and I've got a set of questions and answers being loading into two different arrays, the idea is to answer a question with a choice of 4 buttons, so on a button click the answers checks to see if it is correct and moves along to the next question (while doing this the questions and answers change)However, my problem is that i've set up an audio player as the questions are for example "what is the sound?" and there is a preview button which uses the audio player to play the sound for the user.
Now everything moves with the array however, the sound still remains the same on every question after the quesiotn has been answered. So my set of answers move (when debugging, the sound array does move but the player doesn't seem to want to) with the array and i need the player to change to the specific array position which it is in as well.
Audio Player: Dim answer = CorAnsList(qNum).sound Dim answerPrev As String = My.Computer.FileSystem.CurrentDirectory & "sounds" & answer & ".wav" Private Sub btnPrev_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnPre.Click
I have a vb net program that shows a datagridview which pulls data from a mySQL database. When the user clicks on a row (I am checking for a 'cellclick' event), a text box is filled with data from a hidden column in the datagridview. This works fine and runs without error, BUT...When I use the cursor keys to move the selection up or down, the row highlight changes, but doesn't update the text box. I realise that this is because I am looking for a 'cellclick' event, but I don't know how to look for cursor keys as well.
Please could someone tell me what event I should be looking for to capture input via both mouse click and cursor. I have changed the program so it updates the second dgv on 'selectionchanged' but this crashes at run time with an InvalidCastException.Alternatively, is it possible to stop the user using the cursor keys?
For my applications I created a class to produce custom cursors. One of them is a waitcursor with a percentage in it. It has several backgrounds each one with a filled circle on it and they are positioned in a circle it self (a bit like the java wait thingy). Since I put it in my application I started to get errors at different places in my code, but all related to some memmory problems.
Pretty basic question, I have a checkboxlist inside of a wizard control. I need to collect the value of all items that are checked, as well as whatever value is inside of a textbox if "other" is checked, to insert into my database during the Wizard.FinishButtonClick event. How do I do this?
How can I collect details regarding the hardware and software, of a PC ?As for registration process of the product (my app), I wish to collect the details of that PC and get it saved into my server. When the client request for a new serial key, because of formatting the PC and other reasons, I would compare the PC details and will issue a new serial key based on the result. (small changes in the PC will not be considered)
the reason for setting both is that otherwise the cursor will not always have the desired appearance. I know that cursors can be rendered in color, like 3D-Bronze, windows animated, hands and variations.
Here is my need for a windows form program. I have a program that creates .xml files with the same name but on different dates. It is broken down by Type/Date/Time/file.xml. The "file.xml" is the same name every time.
What i need is to grab all of these xml files and export them to excel by pulling certain information out of them.
coding for searching through a windows file structure to pull these files out.
There will be something like 30-40 of these files spread throughout different "Type", "Date" and "Time"
I'm trying to collect a string (filename) after it get's renamed if file exsit on upload into an array. No matter what I do I can't get it to display to a label. Been working over two weeks on the issue
Private Sub uploadfiles() Dim uploads As HttpFileCollection uploads = HttpContext.Current.Request.Files
How do you get the cursors in an executable file? Like how to extract all cursors from a .exe, .dll, .ocx, .cpl or .src file, and then convert to an System.Drawing.Icon...
With my CheckedListBox, I am trying to get the text of each item that is checked and add it to a listbox, but it does not get everything currently checked. If I have 3 items checked, it only adds 2 items. If I deselect an item, it appears.
lstOpCodes.Items.Clear() Dim OpCodeCollection As CheckedListBox.CheckedItemCollection OpCodeCollection = chkOpCodes.CheckedItems For Each opcode In OpCodeCollection lstOpCodes.Items.Add(opcode) Next opcode
Most of my treelist code is working ok, however I would like to produce two arrays of string, one which contains all the parent nodes in a Treeview, and the other with all the child nodes. I'm obviously doing something stupid as I have "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." I'm not declaring something.
This is my attempt: Private Sub listbuilder(ByVal nodelist As TreeView) Dim parentlist() As String Dim childlist() As String Dim j, n As Integer [Code] .....
I have used list views for a project. I have used sum items on the items. The sub items are prices of products. I will need to use these sub items to come up with a total. Also, i have used to listviews, for a smoother look and feel. You click the product which then is removed from the list view and added to the second one. Would this also "move" the sub item across to the other list view?
I have little Problem with my ListView. When the mouse cursors hovers over an item in the first column, all the subitems of that line dissapear. If I click in it, they eppear agein. Also, they appear, if I hover the mouse over each of them. This my code for DrawSubItem-Event. I don't have implemented a DrawItem-Event because that made it even worse.
Private Sub lvResult_DrawSubItem(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DrawListViewSubItemEventArgs) Handles lvResult.DrawSubItem Dim sf As New StringFormat()[code].....
I've created a function that works very well, but it's limited to AD groups direct membership. I would like to display all AD groups a user belongs to, included the nested one.
I have looking for a tutorial or class that demonstrates more than a trivial example of saving a windows position on closing. The ones I have found don't seem to work on all systems because of:
1. Multiple monitors. (and resolution between those monitors)
2. Toolbar size and position (toolbar is only on the primary monitor, well sometimes)
3. Sometimes the programs dont open on the right monitor they were closed on.
Is there an extensive class or tutorial on all the stuff a programmer needs to get right to have a window size and position persisted between executions?
I am using the following code to populate data in Textbox1:
[Code]...
I have few functions assigned in TextBox1_TextChanged event. The problem i am facing is this event is fired twice, once after the Fill command and another after the Position command whereas i want the event to fire only once after the Position command. What should i do?
I also have a function that returns ALL tiles on the map and they're X, Y position. How could I find out which one is closest to the position I specify? I can't figure out how to go about it. how to implement it with this. Heres a MADE UP example if what I'm trying to do:
Dim MyPosition as New Position() MyPosition.X = 400 MyPosition.Y = 400 Dim tList as New List(Of Tile) = MyMap.GetTiles
Now, I can already do the stuff above, but what I need to make is something like this:
I have two forms: Main and Options.Main can be moved around the screen (like a normal window). When the user clicks a button, the Options form opens up and the Main form HIDES.How do I set the Options form to open in the exact place that the Main form was last on the screen (to give it the effect the MAIN form never went into hidding)I was thinking to set Option form's StartPosition to Main's current position, but I don't know the syntax for that or if it's even something you can do.
I'm seriously considering moving from VB.Net to C#. If you made the jump to C# from vb.net, then what were the best resources you used to learn the language going from novice to pro?
