View 4 RepliesI am writing a program to record patient info for a local ambulance company. My problem is when a patient is added it does not write to the SQL server. When I open up the table in the Management Studio the record is not there. Here is the other thing that is weird to me. I open the program, add the patients info, clear the search box, type in their info and the record shows up. When I close and reopen the program I search the same record and nothing comes up. I tried redoing the string command, then thought maybe I needed to use parameters but that didn't work either.

I tried installing VB.NET 2008 express edition and I had to stop it because there was no network connection.Now it just gets frozen half way through the install everytime. Where are the registry values so I can delete them and install the program. So irritating.

View 5 RepliesI originally installed the 90 trial of Visual Studio 2008 Professional on my computer running on Microsoft Vista home Preferred. I later purchased a key and registered Visual Studio.Subsequently I upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 Professional which required a custom installation. I used the Easy Transfer program which was to save my program settings and data files and then reinstalled Visual Studio.
Now, when I run Visual studio the "Help/About" screen gives me a message that I am using the trial version. When I press the "Upgrade" button I get a Microsoft page with not aclue as to the subject. If I click "Help/Register" I go to the site with the details of my previous registration and after that I get a "Rhank you for registering" message.After that I still have the message that I am using the trial version.
Why can't i install extensions visual basic express 2010? i downloaded the file from Microsoft(.vsix) in another PC, then when i arrived at home i tried to install it, but it tells me that i have no programs installed that the file will be added. do i need to register my vb express first? it's currently running on a trial version.

View 5 RepliesSince VB 2005 express does not really install properly in windows 7, here is how to get it to install and make it work right. It's very simple.
1. Right click on the VB 2005 express installer file and click "Properties" in the menu.
2. Now click the "Compatibility" tab.
3. Check the box that says, "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
4. Click the drop down menu and select "Windows Vista Service Pack 2. (I haven't tried service pack one.)
5. Now check the box that says "Run this program as an administrator" and click "Apply," then "OK"
6. Run the installer.
Wait until VB 2005 express has installed to do these next steps.
7. Make a desktop icon for VB 2005 Express
8. Right click on the VB 2005 express icon and click "Properties" in the menu.
9. Now click the "Compatibility" tab.
10. Check the box that says, "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
11. Click the drop down menu and select "Windows Vista Service Pack 2. (I haven't tried service pack one.)
12. Now check the box that says "Run this program as an administrator" and click "Apply," then "OK"
VB 2005 Express should now run on you Windows 7 machine! (Yipee) Notice that it is necessary to repeat the same process for the installer file as well as the actual VB program becuase they are two different files and need to run in compatibility mode.

However at the end it said that it had failed to install a couple of components. I am afraid I can't remember the names.
Anyhow. Do I have to re-download, or can I somehow re-install. I tried to reinstall, but was asked where the install resources were. I have no idea, and the installer controlled the entire thing.
