Jul 5, 2010I'm asking this question here, in this forum, as I couldn't find MSDN Managed forum for Crystal Reports. And the previously asked questions are unanswered. I've developed an application using VB.NET and Crystal Reports in VS2008. The report generated gets printed correctly on modern laser or inkjet printers. However, the entire formatting gets affected when I print these reports on dot matrix printer. Apart from that. the print speed is very slow. I tried exporting the report to PDF, XLS, DOC and other formats - but no solution. There was Export to Text function, which is not working in Crystal Reports now.

Drawing Hundreds Of Labels Is Really Slow - Speed It Up?
Jan 6, 2012My program draws a few hundred labels and depending on certain criteria, they may be visible or not. I figured that it would be pretty slow anyway, but even if there's only a few labels visible, it does a weird flicky thing for a few seconds before drawing them - at the same speed if there are a lot visible.

Feb 12, 2011I am coding a web-crawler which will crawl the websites and selectively parse different sections of a web site.I am a .Net developer so the choice was obvious that I did it in .Net but the speed was very slow which included downloading and parsing of HTMLPages..Then I tried to just download the contents first using .Net and then same domains using python but the python was very impressive in downloading data. I have achieved downloading using python but the later part is not that easy to code in python, which obviously i don't want to do.The same batch of domain which took 100 seconds in Python was taking 20 minutes in .Net based crawler..I tried url... to download and in took 8 seconds in Python and same was taking 100 Seconds in .Net crawler..Does anyone anyone have any idea why this is slow in .Net but fast in python?

Mar 30, 2009For some reason, .NET applications that I've written seem to have issues if they're launched when Windows starts (by being in the Startup folder for instance). An application that can finish in 3/10 of a second if one launches it normally may seriously take 45-90 seconds to finish if it was launched when Windows loads. Even if I just manually wait 30 seconds after login and launch the program, it'll complete virtually instantly while a copy launched at startup is still struggling along, so it isn't just that Windows is still loading...this continues AFTER that finishes and all HDD activity stops.Writing something to disk using an IO.anything goes at about 20KB/s during this event.

Jun 5, 2012I am trying to create a program in Visual Basic which will measure the performance of the CPU with every core, one at a time. In this program, I decided to place a couple of text boxes that display the processor speed and the actual processor speed. I need to get the actual processor speed to update and I have tried doing this already using a timer set to tick every second. However, when I load the program it runs really slowly and prevents me form doing anything within the program, including trying to close it down, and all it does is updates the text box every second. I have looked in task manager to find out how much CPU the program is using and it shows that my program is using 0 - 3% CPU.

Jun 1, 2011I was thinking of adding a simple bandwidth monitor to a console application and I was wondering if it would be possible to keep a line in the console window visible at all times. I could set something up manually to pass new console output into a method that would get the contents of the console, clear the console, add the bandwidth data on the first row, then rewrite each line of previous information back to the console, etc.. but that seems like a really hacky way to go about it, and I'd be limited to the amount of rows visible at once in the console window (no scrolling).

From my application I would enter the name of the "receiving" application and the comma seperated hex values that should be sent/print/written to it. I have used AppActivate to select the "receiving" application and then have used sendInput and send.sendkeys to attempt to send the desired ASCII value. However, these appear to have limitations on values greater than 127. I need to be able to send all 255 values.

I have all of the code written but when I run the program it pops up the console window and then immediatley exits so I am unable to read what is in the window to see if my program is operating correctly. What I'm really doing is trying to do a matrix effect on my form background, by drawing symbols and moving them, alternating their colors (see this video for what I mean).

Feb 28, 2008currently writing a standard 3-tier (gui/business layer/data layer) winforms application in Visual Studio 2008.I have a form which has to load around 20 different sets of un-related data when it opens. My data layer returns seperate data readers to the business layer and each routine uses seperate sql connections (it opens them, gets a data reader, and then closes it).Now the problem i have is the speed the data is being retrieved. For a relativly small amount of data (around 100 rows of data combined) it's taking say 10 seconds to retrieve, parse into seperate collections and then paint to screen.My form is using controls from Infragistics and Component One and is quite heavy anyway
