I want to disable the majority of the built-in functionality of the WPF Richtextbox that is found in "EditingCommands"
How can I go about disabling them?
In vb.net datagridview the default Enter/Return key behavior is to move to the next row is there a quick and easy way to avoid that.
View 3 RepliesIn a base class object, I have an overridable subroutine that I would like all derived objects to have the ability to include. However, they don't have to, and if it's not necessary for them to use it, I don't want them to be forced to declare it. To enforce this, I've left the default behavior empty. For example, here's my whole sub:

End Sub
Is this bad practice? I don't want to declare it as MustOverride, but I don't want default behavior. Is there a "better" way of doing this, or is this perfectly acceptable? I don't want to be that hack programmer...
I use the following line of code within a single method to explicitly check and trust an SSL cert from the following host: MyTrustedCompany.com:
ServicePointManager.ServerCertificateValidationCallback = Function(obj As [Object], certificate As X509Certificate, chain As X509Chain, errors As SslPolicyErrors) (certificate.Subject.Contains("CN=MyTrustedCompany.com"))
No problem with the code -> works perfectly 100%.
The problem is, it is too far reaching. I thought its scope would only be within the method I decalred it, but apparently it is a Shared property on the 'ServicePointManager' object, and must then persist for the entire application, which I do not want.
The problem is later I am calling web services of mine, etc and getting the "Could not establish a trust relationship..." exception. This is because in the line of code above I check for the host name of an SSL cert specefic to that method. I quickly tested Returning 'True' from the callback so all certs would be trusted instead of checking for a specefic name (i.e. MyTrustedCompany) and subsiquent requests worked. This is how I know this callback assignment reaches father than that single method. Sure I could extend the callback to include all other certitificate names, but what I would rather do is set the 'ServerCertificateValidationCallback' back to its default behavior. Like the pseudo code below:
ServicePointManager.ServerCertificateValidationCallback = Nothing 'Default checking behavior
How do I remove the custom validation and set it back to its default behavior?
I have a form with the FormBorderStyle set to SizeableToolWindow. The close button - 'x' in the upper right corner - sends a DialogResult of 'cancel' to the FormClosing event when clicked. How do I set it so that it will send an 'OK'? I tried setting the form's DialogResult to 'OK' in the New method, but that's not working. I checked my code and I'm not setting it anywhere that I can see.

View 5 RepliesI use a .NET richtextbox and I want to have the EnableAutoDragDrop property set to True. This allows user to drag&drop text, rtf and images around etc. However, I need to process files dropped into the richtextbox myself - I do not want them to be embedded as OLE objects when they are dropped.
How can I overcome this? Is there any way to delete embedded files from richtextbox?
(I've found API DragAcceptFiles which doesn't work for some reason.)
Finishing off my control, but I now found a nasty problem. When the user holds the 'Ctrl' key and scrolls the mouse scrollwheel, the control is scaled. I do not want that, since it would make the Font size fail.
I previously made it reset the scale on Control up, but that is just not a very elegant way:
Me.ZoomFactor = 1 I do not want the text scaled at any time, not even while the user is scrolling and it resets afterwards. I got to overriding the 'ProcessCmdKey' but no idea how to catch a scroll or zoom event.
Any way of disabling the RichTextBox scaling (or zooming) so it does not even occur? I have a control that inherits from the RichTextBox.
I'm writing an vb.net application so that the user can type text to be added to a website. I'm using a richtextbox and I've added the facility to hyperlink selected text. This all works, but when the mouse cursor moves over a hyperlink it changes to a hand; how do I stop it doing that? It's confusing for the user as it looks like clicking the link will do something and it makes it awkward to correct spelling within the text of the hyperlink.

If we say blue is the default colour of the Backcolor property I understand it as if you don't specify a colour for Backcolor blue will be its colour. But I could not make sense of default property of a class in the context of building a custom user control. After calling an instance of a class we have to either call one of its members or assign an other object for it. Therefore why should there be a default property?

I have previously used the arguments of a contentsResized event on a Winforms richtextbox to get the new size of my RTB. I am now developing a WinForms app with a custom WPF RichTextBox. My whole reason for doing this is to use the out-of-the-box spellchecker. I need my RichTextBox to expand and collapse vertically as the text is changed. The elementhost will also have to resize to allow the whole RTB to display on-screen.
