2008: Read A Manually Entered Value In A Numericupdown?

An user is allowed to enter as well a value in the numericupdown box manually.. How to capture what he has entered?So far I have:

The above works also if I add a value manually and press enter... But according to the exercise it should directly notice a manually entered value without pressing enter. How to do that?
Is there a way to make NumericUpDown control hide decimal places but still can show if i entered manually?For example, i want to set NumericUpDown DecimalPlaces to 0 but when i enter something like 6.52, it remains 6.52 and not rounded to 7.

I am attempting to get 7 NumericUpDowns to display the value of the application setting they are bound to. Each UpDown has its own setting binding. The setting is a decimal datatype with a value of either 4 or 6 as default. I need the UpDowns to display the setting value when the form loads. At the same time, I need any change made to the UpDowns to be saved to the same setting so that the application can both display and use the new value the next time it runs. Unfortunately, the only way I can get them to display anything other than "1" is to hardcode a constant value, and I don't want it to be constant. I think this is the last bug in my application and would love to get it figured out, but I've spent over 8 hours on it with no luck. Here is the applicable code.

I've been playing with a DGV. Let's say for my question here, I want a grid that is 10x10. I would like the font in each cell to be Arial 10 regular. Only one character will be in each cell (I'll use "M"). I would LIKE the cells to be 17 pixels by 17 pixels. But, if I manually force the column width to be 17, I get about half of my M and three dots "M...". I'm thinking this is a padding thing but as far as I can tell, everything is set to 0. Question 1: How can I reclaim some of what seems to be lost space around the cell contents so I don't have to make them bigger than they need to be? I'd like them to be 17x17 with the single character centered within.
Question 2: Do I have to manually set the height and width of each row and column? I'm thinking the RowTemplate setting but can't seem to get it to work.
FYI: This is a new project with a DGV dragged onto the form. All changes have been made programatically.
I have a question regarding unusual date format. I have validation set to where users must input 8 digits for the date that I intend on formating dd/mm/yyyy. Is there a date function in .NET that I can use or am I going to have to manually set up my own function to output those numbers in that format?
I am creating a Calender application using the monthly calender control.I am trying to implement a search for the calendar so a date can be entered into a text box which intern moves the calender to show the date entered. I have been try to figure this out with no luck, is it even possible to do?

Our back end is SQL and I have added a column of TimeStarted and I want this data to be input here, issue is SQL does not like the # symbols, how do i Trim these things off so that it will take the DateTime. I put the code in the form load event Dim dtNow As System.DateTime = System.DateTime.Now GetDataTable("Update AuditProducts Set TimeStart = '" & dtnow & "' where ID = '" & txtID.ToString & "'") txtID is a hidden textbox used to pull the ID of the specific item that was just created. I went directly to the SQL server and placed this query without the # on the date time and it went in no probs.
I'm working on a query where I only want to use the 8 first characters entered in to the textbox. Is there some attribute to textbox that allows me to do this?
how do you restrict letters from being entered into a textbox?I know it invloves textbox_TextChanged but i don't know who to do so.
Edit: I figured out that Letters(25) = (a b c etc...) can be used but how to not enter the letter? Uhm.. Like, the user enters "a" and the program recognizes it using an IF statement. How will it NOT enter the letter into the textbox?
Is richtextbox can save a text within its control? What control in vb.net that could save the text being entered within its control paticularly, if any? I need somebody that could give me an idea on what control to use to save the text within the control. I'm not trying to save the text anywhere. I want to save it within the control. I don't have to save it with a filename and a path location. Just like this forum, which everytime you post and reply to a thread, you will have to enter your message in a certain workspace and after you submit, it will save within the control so everytime you open your thread you will see the messages. What control do I need to use in vb.net to do that? info especially the codes to save the text string within a certain control?
I'm making a hangman game (yes everyones starting point) and got the basics running. I've added so extras to it, such as reading in random words from a text file, only allowing capitals to be entered, an option of guesses the phrase etc. All very simple but a nice way to learn.
Anyway, I want it to show the letters that have all ready been entered between each guess. I want to do this by using an array and making sure the same letter cannot be entered more than once into this array.

I am trying to get valid data entered in a Windows Form.I simply used bunch of IF and ElseIF statements to set the conditions.
1. Because the field can only accept letters, I need to filter out characters. Eg: !@#$, stuff like that.
2. I need to apply a loop so that the user is prompted to re-enter the data or to have the error message repeat. Right now the error message display once and that's it.I understand the Do Until Loop but my book shows example only on numbers.

The problem is this: I have two forms. One form and the other form do mathematical calculations. I want to save the values that the user inputs, so when the user quits the program and then starts it up again the values are still there. But when I open up the program, start typing in values, then calculate them, hit quit. Try to open up the program again, its giving me a message that the input file is invalid. When I click ok, the program doesn't crash, continues. But the values are not there at all. The other form I put exactly the same code, just changed the variables and it doesn't want to save the values at all! I wrote this code for saving and loading the values:
I am working in VB 2008 and I have a textbox on a form that is used to enter a parcel number. I can enter the number in a 15 character string such as 12345678...... and it works just fine. The parcel number in real life contains dashes to make it easier to read, decipher, etc. so it looks like 12-3-45-67....... Under the textchanged subroutine for the textbox I have a case statement set up that checks the length of the parcel number as it is entered and inserts the dash accordingly.
The code performs correctly when the input is an integer, but when I enter a character, the result is as though I've entered an integer. Can you tell me what's wrong with my TryParse statement?

Im doing the auto sign up in some websites but the thing is i want to use the NumericUpDown tool in Vb.net 2008, for example i choose 10 in NumericUpDown then i click the button then it will process or rather it will create 10 accounts... please give me an idea on how to use NumericUpDown... i try to play the code using if else but im stock.....
