VS 2008 Get Valid Data Entered In A Windows Form?

I am trying to get valid data entered in a Windows Form.I simply used bunch of IF and ElseIF statements to set the conditions.
1. Because the field can only accept letters, I need to filter out characters. Eg: !@#$, stuff like that.
2. I need to apply a loop so that the user is prompted to re-enter the data or to have the error message repeat. Right now the error message display once and that's it.I understand the Do Until Loop but my book shows example only on numbers.

How to save a data i entered in vb form into .txt or acces db, for example i have a form, and there is some text box in that form, then i write a text in that TextBox then i save all into txt file or Access DB, and i can open or load that file into my aplication. i use SaveFileDialog but how to make i can chose a file type to save it?

Am not n a programming class am just interested in how things are done behind the scenes while learning. What is nice about this is that you can still learn by looking at code and trying to figure out what/how they figured it out. Am trying to work on this script and looking for some . Am to prompt the user to input a path to a folder in the c: Get a folder object to act as that folder and how to detect if the path which the useer entered is valid and if its not valid to display and error message and to go no further. Get a files collection that represents all files in folder the user selected Check number of files in the collection, it is "0" make a messsage box stating folder doesnt contain files and if it does make a message box stating the number of files in the folder.

I created a usercontrol which has a Textbox and a Label. Setting the (boolean) textvalidity property we can toggle the icons on the label to show if the user has entered a valid input.

The problem is... when the control is used... the constructor initializes it to true (According to my code) so the icon is already displayed.

For example, is this an acceptable way of checking that fields are not empty before submitting data to a datatable/database? Right now, Im simply checking with an If statement, and I'm starting to think that this is not the correct way to do it.

I am trying to mkae sure that there has been 16 numeric digits entered into the masked textbox. If not show errror message and if so to call the fucnction ValidateLuhn. When calling Validate Luhn i want the program to tell me if the number entered is valid or invalid using the code in the function:

Vb is not my language of choice , but I have to do this for school and I'm not having a very easy time with VB's documentation.I'm just creating a very simple console application that accepts user input: degrees in Celsius, and converts it into Fahrenheit. Here is the problem, I have an Access form and a textbox for an e-mail address. The email address is not required, I only want to check for a valid email address when a value or address has been entered into the e-mail filed. Example: If e-mail is not empty or if email field has a value, then check for the follow elements, matched the email address with the required format. If the e-mail field is empty, do not look for anything, move on.

I am working on a program in which I allow the user to quickly add strings to a textbox by pressing a key combination, such as ALT+S. Inserting the strings and setting the cursor to the right position works fine. Its just that windows makes an annoying beep as if an error was encountered every time I press the key combination. I am using the KeyDown event to handle the keystrokes, and I have tried e.Handled = True - without success. Here's a bit of code to give you the idea:[code]

I'm upgrading a project from VB6 to VB2008.I have a routine that clears a combo box, named 'cmbDataTable' which could be on any form. I pass the form and the combo box is cleared.

New to Visual Studio 8 running on Vista with Office 2007.Attempting to create first simple form with data grid using Nwind.mdb Customers table. Data source is created and using Preview data actually shows the data contained in the table.After dragging the DataGridView onto the new Form1 no data appears in the grid when the form is run.

Now i called this function on the button click of my login form and passed the values of username and password textboxes as parameters to it. But the problem arising is that it is logging in by simply clicking the button irrespective of what is entered in the username and password textboxes.

How can I ensure that a user enters data in one text box before being allowed to move on to the next text box Example I have four text boxes the user can enter a grade in. I want to lock the other three box until the user has entered a number in text box 1. Once a valid number has been entered in text box 1, that releases or enables text box 2. I have created a program that solves the right-angled triangle by just needing to input two known quantities. I have adapted this code from some I found on another website, it never actually worked, so I spent two weeks figuring out how to get it to work. I have finally succeeded, what I would like to do is display a message box if the user has not entered the required two inputs and presses the 'Calculate' button (see image). I just want it to say "At least two known quantities are required".I have some code that clears all the text boxes so you can enter new data, but I have tried countless times to find a way of coding so the message box appears.

I'm making program that will copy one file and over-write another to purge data.I have a windows form interface where the files can be selected and want a console application to run this process so it can be put into the PC's startup folder to run on each startup.
The problem is I need to send the file location data to the console app when I choose a save button on the form. Both are part of the same project and referenced but I can't seem to reference any variable from the win form to console app.Also will I see the Console app as a seperate icon in the program files so I can put it on the PC startup?

Please take a look at the code below. I was told by the individual that developed itoriginally that the code only adds the rows of data the user entered. In other words,there 5 rows of textboxes. user can enter data into one row or into all 5 rows. If the user enters data into one row of textbox, that's what gets inserted into the db.I made some minor change to the code so that users can tell when a payment is made by check or cash payment.Since I made that change, whether a user enters data into one row or all 5 rows, all 5 rows get inserted into the db.How can I modify this code to ensure only rows entered get inserted?
