I am creating a reporting app that pulls information off of a Sql database and populates the data in a datagridview control (DVG). I am using tab pages (Tabcontrol), and I have about 10 tabs with within the control. What I have done is created a dynamic control that will populate in each tab page once the tab is selected. I am using a split container and in my split container.panel 1 is where all my buttons and search functionality will be. In my split container.panel2 to is where the main DGV control will be. I have got this to function properly, however now I am unable to add anything to my split container.panel1. I would like to add diffrent labels and buttons in the panel1 one without putting another panel on top of the split container.panel1, and also if i do this when I resize my container the panel will just sit there. I am using the selected index changed event to get my split container to show in each of the diffrent tabs

I'm trying to write some code which parses data and then populates a listbox. I'm using the IPWorks IPPort component which basically does the reading of port 30003. The ipport1_OnDataIn event is where all the action is. I parse the data, which works great.. however when I try and do something simple such as add text to a listbox, I get the dreaded error "Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'lstListBox1' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on".I've googled the error and tried copy and pasting some workarounds but nothing seems to fix the issue.
If anyone can offer help, it would be greatly appreciated. If you could possibly show the code already implemented into mine, it would be even better so I can see how it works. It would make more sense to me. My code is below. The part i'm trying to get working is the lstlistbox1.items.add("Test") in Case "2". This is to just get it working.. I'll be adding listbox items in the other cases as well, and they'll be parsed values instead of "Test". This is just to simplify things at the moment.

I have a VB.net application that gets data off our server with ODBC and populates and saves a Word Document. When I try to deploy it to another computer it will get the data just fine and populate the first document, but it will crash before saving it. I've installed the .net framework 4.0, Microsoft Data Access Components, and the Microsoft ODBC .net data Provider. The error code is 0xC0000005, which is from what I can see is called an "Access Violation Exception." It works fine on my computer.

I found a sample of how to display data from a table in to a datagrid using VB.

But this just displays the details of the table columns. For example row 1 has details about usrID, row 2 usrTel ect rather than the actual data of the table.

Why does it only print all the rows for each DS (different sizes/colors) only if there are more then one DS? (if there is only 1 DS it will only print one row, regardless of different colors/sizes but if there is 2 DS, it will print all the values from the first DS)I have gotten a massive headache from trying to figure out these 2 problems. I have imported a set number of rows (17) into a DataGridView but how do im import like for example thousands of rows? Am i suppose to have thousands of code lines to import row by row?! I am using Datagridview to show some table data from database. It is working but its appearance is not what i am looking for.Is there a way to edit columns and rows manually ?This is a list of what i want to do :
1. First of all i want to change column captions. because they are like "Fld_name" etc.
2. There is a column that shows date. I want to write a code for it ( convert date type )
3. I want to add a button at the end of each row and write a code for it ( show detail about that record )
I was just writing a windows application that populates three comboboxes from the same datasource. My datasource is a datatable. The way i populate the comboboxes is by repeating the following code for each of the comboboxes:

When the application is run, and I select an item from the dropdown list of, say, cbx1, my choice is reflected in cbx2 and cbx3 as well. I find this behaviour strange and will be grateful if anybody could explain what is going on here behind the scenes. On a side note, I've been able to circumvent this problem by modifying my code as shown below, but would still like to have an explanation for this seemingly strange behaviour.

In my application I read data (using data binding) from an Excel spreadsheet into a DataGridView. This works, but the data columns contain text fields (strings). I would like to set the data type for some columns to "Date" and Decimal. I am developing a program that populates a rich text box and from a click event on a listbox. The data that is being loaded into the rich text box is located in a richtextformat file located on the hard drive. I noticed that when I entered a URL into one of the richtextformat files that it appeared that I was able to click on the text as if it were a link. So I wondered if it was possiable to click on that URL and open a web browser from the loaded richtextformat file? I have read several articles in regards to opening hyperlinks in rich text boxes which can open a web browser with a given URL.

I have two data tables. the second related to the first. Using a datagridview for the first table I am able to enter and save data ok. if I run the code twice in a row the data is still there. When I edit the data in the related table in it's own datagirdview the data is there and displays correctly, but on running the code a second time the related data is lost. In both cellendedit events I am using
