Access System Files (.SYS) Using VB Data Source Configuration Wizard?
Oct 1, 2009
New to VB... I am trying to access .SYS (system files) located in the following folder path (example) My Database NameVIEWSSYSTEM VIEWS in the Object Explorer of my SQL Database. In walking through the Data Source Configuration Wizard for data connectivity I select DATABASEVIEWS and the SYSTEM VIEWS sub-folder is not available for selection. In general: What is the best method to access System Files using VB Data Source?
I am currently working on a project that involves the use of data base sources, namely ODBC. The problem is I have designed a form using the Data Source Configuration Wizard that doesn't update. I've ensured that I have a primary key in my data and that the Copy to output is set to "Copy Always". The code generated by the wizard, is as follows: Public Class Form1
I am a brand new user of MS Visual Basic 2005 Express and MS SQL Server 2005 Express. I have familiarized myself with both programs but have one extremely frustrating problem. Once I open SQL Server, I can not establish a database connection from Visual Basic using the Visual Basic Data Source Configuration Wizard (even if I close SQL Server). If I reboot and open Visual Basic first, I can then connect using the Visual Basic Data Source Configuration Wizard. But then I can not switch to SQL Server and open the database (even if I close Visual Basic). Again, I must reboot to open the database in SQL Server.I suspect there is a setting somewhere that needs to be changed, but I can not find it?
I am looking to make a data connection with a network server(sql server 2005). When I run the data source configuration wizard, it allows me only to pick a local database file. I want to use a connection string like this "Data Source=SQLSERVER;Initial Catalog=mydb;User Id=username;Password=password;" I know I can do that programmatically. But I would like to know whether I can do that using the data source wizard so that I will be able to use Bindingsources and tableadapters.
I have a program on my machine that uses a local SQL Express 2005 database to store information in when the program is running. I want to use some data within said database in my program but for the life of me I cannot seem to get started by adding it as a new data source using the add data source wizard... If I type in the database name it throws an error that it cannot find the database, although I can quite clearly see it using the SQL Express 2005 SQL Server Management Tool.
I am using the TableAdapter Configuration Wizard and under Advanced option I click on "Refresh the data table" and carry through to the end of the wizard. However when I run my code and want to update the dataset on the form I get the error message "Update requires a valid Update Command when passed with DataRow collection with modified rows". So, ok, when I look back at the Dataset with right click and configure I find that that the "Refresh the data table" under Advanced Options is no longer ticked, even though I had ticked it before and finished the wizard. Somewhere along the line the tableAdapter is losing this value.
i am putting this query in my querybuilder in the table adapter but i need to make the query only return the transaction done today!! i dont know the syntax to get the cuurent date today. this query should work in the tableadapter query configuration wizard!!!
Receive 'ConfigurationManager' is not a member of 'Configuration' in VS2008.I read all of the topics in the forum about this error Tried adding areference to System.Configuration.dll to the project and an "Imports System.Configuration" to the vb file.Still get an error
I was Created TableAdapter through Configuration Wizard , and i applied joins and Filters on the wizard. Finally i am getting the rows which i want, and now one table was created in my dataset.
If i update few records in my database, is there update also in this table?? why b`se this table is not in the Database right?
I'm trying to connect a VB application (2010) to an MS Access DB by adding a data source from the data menu but I receive this error message "The connection you selected uses a local data file that is not in the current project.Would you like to copy the file to your project and modify the connection ?
If you copy the data file to your project, it will be copied to the project's output directory each time you run the application" and the options are (yes , No , Help)
If I choose Yes I will not be able to make the application 'device independent ' since it will not be copied under the bin , and if I choose No , changes won't be applied to the DB
I have a combo box with a data source. This box shows one column of a table and allows me to select one item.Next, I have an ordinary text LABEL that I need to put text from another column of the item selected above.I tried to set the data binding field of the label, but this grabs only the first row or data and shows the selected column. That is nice, but I can not figure out how to update the selected selected ROW when the combo box item is changed. In this case the combo box lists a bunch of inventory parts. When I select a specific part, I need the change the text in a label to show the manufacturer. (like a sub-form). This same behavior will be used in several other places, but the relationships can cascade.
New to both Access 2007 and VB 2005. Tried to create a data source with access in vb and kept getting an error about instantiation. Removed Access 2007 and loaded 2003 and no problems.
Even tried to create a mdb file with a save as 2003, did not work.Is there a way to use Access 2007 with vb?
i have a simple vb program which i have loaded a data surce access file with it. I have done this using the data scource tab/wizard and then dragged the table on to my form which automatically gives me the functions i need (e.g. next record, save record, add new etc..)This all works as expected and fine within the program but when I open up the access file after - it hasnt done anything to the database/table what so ever - i.e. no changes were applied to it. Im so baffled
When I try to access the folder "System Volume Information" and other system files I get the errorAccess to the path 'H:System Volume Information' is denied.
I will start off here by asking the question. How do I make the data from a database be bound to my project? I keep trying to add a new data source so that I can drag and drop things to my form, but I am unable to. I follow the steps, choosing an OLE DB, the file's location (D:Data Connected Applicationsfile name) The conecting string looks like: Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source="D:Data Connected ApplicationsItem_Database_A.accdb". I choose the objects that I want (In this case, the entire tables option) and then it returns a message to me stating that: An error occurred while creating the new data source: Could not get information for 'WindowsApplication1.Item_Database_A.accdbDataSet3'
i want to built application for managing office document in database. My decision using VB.NET and access database. Using available tool Visual Studio 2010(VB.NET) and Access 2007.
1)what suitable table for access to store office document?Included time,id,office files and what again?
2)how use vb.net 2010 for insert,update,delete in access?
After trawling around the net for a good few days, i decided to post something here.
Basically, i've got a problem linking a data source (Access 2007 database) to a VB 2008 project.
I've broken it down to having a problem dragging a table onto my form, when it generates the nav bar, it says "0 of {0}", and the table is empty (despite the actual database containing values)
However, this happens only at home, at college it works totally fine. The only difference that's obvious is that i'm using Windows 7 at home, and Windows XP at college.
When we are typing the msconfig in Start>Run the window is appearing that is named System Configuration Utility . Now I want with WMI and API objects access this data and change them by programming in VB6. Specially, I want to change data on Start-up lists and Boot up services Can any one suggest me a solution?
Note: When I am going to use registry datas in compare of System Configuration Utility I have found that all of applications are not listed in registry + startup folder of windows. I think there is a provider for this issue in windows that returns or manages all applications on startup. I am searching for that.
I have created a data source connection to an access db by using the wizard in vs2008. I have then used this as a data source for crystal reports. My user would like to put the database on a network and reference it there. Is there a way to set a new path for this data source during runtime?
I have spent the best part of a day to try and get metadata out of a jpg.
Function getmetadata(ByVal f As String) As String Dim txt As String Dim fs As New System.IO.FileStream(f, FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read, FileShare.Read)
When i try to run my app I get this exception "Configuration system failed to initialize"I recently added a datascource to the app and am assuming that something has gone wrong there but it was all working ok and then this error just started.I assume it's a problem with my appconfig file which i'll post here I cant see anything wrong with it but.!!I've tried deleting the ConnectionString Section but nothing helps and i cant run my app at
I have an .NET winforms application(A). I am calling another .NET exe(B) file from the winforms application. When executes, it throws the following error.
I haven't kept any configuration file for the second exe file(B).
I am using Visual Studio 2010 and referencing System.Configuration at the top "Imports System.Configuration" but I'm still getting not declared and could be inaccessible due to it's protection level. What now?
Have you tried configuring ASP.Net Membership together with Enterprise Library DAAB? When I run my application it throws the following exception: "Configuration system failed to initialize" It seems that it encounters a problem that normally don't occur when I setup my configuration file.
I have a VS Solution with several projects. I want to set a specific project to the start project in Debug mode. Everything seems to run fine as I set breakpoints on the initial Form and several initialization procedures. At one point however, I get this error which is not an issue when I compile and run the release version.
Here is an illustration of the Exception. Unrecognized configuration section configuration. (C:...path...File.vshost.exe.config line 25) The config file is listed below an the jit debugging = true statement is on line 25
