I'm developing a VB.net WinForms app in VS 2010 and targeting both x86 and x64.The app processes data from xls, xlsx, mdb and accdb files using System.Data.OleDb:Dim oConn As OleDbConnection = New OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=...")
The x64 version of the program works as expected. The x86 version works as expected on a system with Office x86.When I run the x86 version on a machine with Office 2010 x64, I get the following exception when trying to open a connection:
The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine.I believe this is because I'm running Office 2010 x64 so the x86 data access components are not installed.I can get it to work for Office 2003 files (*.mdb and *.xls) by changing the provider to Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0.

It would just call us their Windows logon name and use that to IM and the like. To improve performance, when one has many files to readwrite it is better to save them in smallergroup in different folders. Is there a magic number over which it is better to start splitting the folder? for example below "10.000" (invented number) files can be stored in one single folder, while above that it is better to start storing files in multiple folders.
View 16 RepliesI'm doing a project where we are re-creating a very old system.The client wants the same base functionality and some improvements.One of the things I'm currently working on is the note-system. These are used as flags of some sort, but are also used as a comment field for some products or client profiles.In the old system you could write the text and save it like you would get in a .txt file. They want the new one to be able to do word formatting such as:
Different font sizes (Only some parts of the text)
Different font colours (Only some parts of the text)
Underlining of words
Bolding
Italics
Tab-spaces
Those are the specs they want. What I need to know is the following:
1) How do I do that?
2) Currently they store all these files on the server as text files and the database have paths that refers to each file. I want to be able to save a text file with that formatting to the HDD of the server like in the old system.
3) If possible I would like to save that text to the database with the formatting.
I have a program in VB.NET 2005. At some point I have to open an Access2003-Application for getting data in it. I do that by pretending my program is a human user and let it do all the work in Access as a human user would do. Filling Fields, pressing buttons etc. I use the Primary Interop Assemblies for that. So far so good. That code is in use for over half a year now. In the last week I got Office 2007 installed on my machine. Of course I tested the installed version of my program if everthing still works. Every test was succesfull. But if I do the same tests in Visual Studio it always crashes.
All I get is this Errormessage: {"Das COM-Objekt des Typs "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.FormClass" kann nicht in den Schnittstellentyp "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access._Form3" umgewandelt werden. The hiearchy I currently have is "MenuStrip>File>Recent Files>File1".
I have a function which saves the files and opens them. It also stores the file name and file path in sperate variables:

I would be able to change the text property of the File1 (File1ToolStripItem) to the SaveFileName easily, but how would I make it so that when you click the File1 (File1ToolStripItem) it opens the Savefile file?
I would also need the program to save this list so when I open the program again they are still there.
i was just wondering if in Visual Studio there was a way to put all the referenced DLL files in a separate folder for when you build the project? I'm talking about when you build the project and go in Bin/Release or Debug, i have the exe file along with all the DLL files in the same folder and would like to clean it up and get the dlls in a separate resource folder or something like that.
View 2 RepliesRunning VS2008 working on a customized DotNetNuke version. This issue has come up a couple of times figured I'd see if it's unique to this installation or if it's a IDE bug.
In short I have files that get locked as Readonly and the only way to unlock them is to do a build.
The app I'm working with takes > 60 secs. to build on my box. This error seems to reproduce fairly regularly but you'll need an app that takes a while to build to try it.
During a build try to edit a file.
You should get the error "Cannot currently modify the text in the editor. It is read-only." and a little lock should appear on the tab.
If you wait till the build completes the lock disappears and the file can be edited.
However if instead you cancel the build the file stays Read-Only until such a time as you either restart the IDE or run a build and let it complete.
Looks to me like someone forgot to call the unlock files method in the cancel event handler.
I would use the System.Linq.Dynamic. I added the specified Dynamic.vb file, that starts like this:

I am coding a program that will allow the user to input 5 payrolls for Store 1, Store 2, and Store 3. The total of the 5 payrolls are then added together and shown in the respective Store's labels. A total label is also there to add up all the totals into one number. The numbers in the label must be in currency form. My problem is the numbers don't add correctly when I hit calculate. The first two numbers add together, but then after that the number just seems to subtract a random amount.

I'm coding this neat little project that's kind of a hack into the SanDisk U3 Cruzer's ability to have both a CDFS and FAT32 File System. This is helpful because the program is burned to the CDFS (It's basically slip streamed as an .ISO in place of the original U3 .ISO), and the settings files (which I've developed as text files) are placed on the root of the flash drive. The program itself is VERY simple actually, except I'm having a slight issue that's really driving me insane:
The drive path of the Flash Drive won't be the same from computer to computer. I.E... The files are "UAI.txt" and "UInfo.txt". The root of the drive on my comp is "I:", but on my laptop is "F:". So if I program the path from my computer as the absolute path, an exception is thrown when the path changes on another computer. I cannot have this happen. It is probably THE MOST crucial element to this program. How can you save and read info if you can't find the files? =P
