Access Directory Without Knowing Full Name?

I need to access Mozilla FireFox's cache, but the path to it is different in each PC. Well, kind of.
This is the path: C:Users%USERPROFILE%AppDataLocalMozillaFirefoxProfiles*.defaultCache"
The ".default" folder will always have that extension, but the asterisk part is different on each PC.[code]...

I need to access a file path, but a part of the path is different on each PC. Mozilla creates a random profile name for each PC it is installed on. I can get most of the path through environment variables. I need to access the files inside of the default profile, but can't since I'm not sure how to access it.
Here's an example of the file path:
'C:Users\%USERPROFILE%AppDataRoamingMozillaFirefoxProfilesxxxxxxxx.default'
The only thing that stays the same with the profile name, is the '.default' part.

I made a program that is started and running in memory and minimized to the system tray.
When it is first launched it registers global hot keys in windows. These hot keys are used for resizing the current focused window. I'm trying to use it so you can hotkey windows to resize to half the screen, a third of the screen, etc... For instance, if I have two notepads open and notepad 1 is focused and I hit Ctrl+Shift+LeftArrow it will resize notepad1 to the left and half the size of the screen. I have notepad 2 focused and Hit Ctrl+Shift+RightArrow and resize notepad2 to the right side of the screen. So, I can easily see both windows at once. Now, I can successfully get the focused window handle when the hot key is pressed. I'm stuck at this point.
I can use the Windows API call:

I am trying to get the full directory of a file. The file name is "GraphFix.txt". I know the directory up to a certain point and then in between the directory and the file there is a folder that is different on every computer and i need to get the full directory with that folder in it. I was thinking if i know the directory path up to a certain point i can just search the directory for that specific file and in return it will tell me the full path including that folder.

I am trying to populate a listbox on form load of a list of directories. I only want to show the directory name, not the full path:
[code]...
The form opens w/ no data in the list box. I played w/ this for a bit and found the strFolderName(i) assignment seems to break the code (make it not work) but I can't figure out why.

I am trying to log the contents of an object to a text file. If I do a debug.print of the object itself in the immediate window, it prints all of the values of the object's properties:
?mDb.DatabaseOptions
{Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.DatabaseOptions}
AnsiNullDefault: False
...
UserData: Nothing
However, I can't seem to access this as a string in code due to a type mismatch. I assumed I could get this information using the .ToString method, but all that returns is the object description with none of the properties or values:
?mDb.DatabaseOptions.ToString
"Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.DatabaseOptions"

I have made quite a nice and tidy little game. Its based around space invaders and works quite well. however because i have finished my college project almost 2 weeks ahead of the assignments release date, my tutor has asked me to tweak my project and make it better. So far i have added a full main menu to the game and a full splash screen. I would like to add in a section for recorded high scores but have no idea how to attempt this at all.

We have an Oracle 11g R2(UNIX) server. A directory was created on this UNIX box for the purpose of uploading/downloading CSV files.I need to access this directory, programmatically from VB.Net in order to search for a specific file (a log file more precisely) and then open it it programmatically in Notepad from my Vb.Net application. I should also be able to delete or copy it to my local drive.I am trying to find a VB.Net code sample that would allow me to implement this: Read/Write/Open files on an UNIX directory.

That info is available in the operating system under the file properties security tab, but I can't find any code examples that retrieve that info in vb.net (or c#). Anyone have code that will do that?

I wanted to create some CLR functions that will access Active Directory, but I discovered I can't add a reference to "System.DirectoryServices" to my CLR project.
I googled it, and found that I have to add the AD dll as an Assembly to the SQL Server. Like so:
CREATE ASSEMBLY [System.DirectoryServices]
FROM 'C:WindowsMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727System.DirectoryServices.dll'
WITH PERMISSION_SET = UNSAFE
GO
The problem here is that I have to set the "PERMISSION_SET = UNSAFE" to the dll... this means that I have to set the database as "TRUSTWORTHY ON", and this opens a can a worms!

I'm fiddling around with a small program that can delete a directory, including its sub-folders and files. This is the code I'm using: (Note-I found it on the net, I didn't code it myself)
Private Sub filedelete(ByVal filename As String)
Dim filesystemobject As Object
filesystemobject = CreateObject("Scripting.filesystemobject")[code]..........
So on click of button '2' the folders are cleaned out, and on click of button '3' they are deleted - it works great. Now the problem is, if any of the folders in the directory 'test' are not accessible to the current user, the program throws the exception 'Access to the path is denied. Is it possible to skip folders that are not accessible, and just ignore them, and delete the ones that are accessible? What code needs to be added to enable this ability?

I'm running in to a problem and all the google searching for the past 3 hours haven't solved it.I'm using Visual Studio 2008 on a Windows 7 Enterprise x64 OS.Programs Intended Use: This will be a pre-deployment assessment program, to be run by the end-user to calculate difficulty of the deployment(setting up of new computer) to see if we can send a student or send a full time staff. It will grab the username, computername, os, etc which are all already working. I want it to grab the size of the user profile (C:Users%Username of currently logged in person). This is where I'm having difficulty. The function works fine on the desktop folder, but on mydocs it comes up with access denied errors, as well as "LocalApplication Data" being access denied.[code]

I have a VB project that I created a simple setup project to deploy. It installs fine except for one problem. It crashes because it can't read its own application directory. Included with the program are an xml and schema file that it needs to read when starting.dditionally it may create a log file, also in its application directory. Either of these will return errors under the default install. This was not an issue when running the program in VS and if modify the program to work with another directly like C:Temp. I have a workaround in which I change the permissions of Users group to Full Control for the application directory

I am useing system.directory.services I can use LDAP to search fo the information I need and I can even get the info to populate a list box I just can't seem to get at the data and then submit it to an access database. I have worked with databases and can use them for more simple tasks (using a form to add records to a database)

I am currently using the below code to upload a file and display progress. It works fine except there are a few things I would like to do differently.
I am using the main FTP account for my website which has access to all of my files. I set up a different FTP login to use that only has access to a specific folder, but when I try to use it I get: Error 550 No such file or directory or access denied.
This FTP account allows access to: mywebsite.com/upload/users/ only If strFTPAddress = mywebsite.com/upload/users/ I get error 550, I've tried a few other things too and it's told me that it's an invalid URI
Basically what I want to know is if and how I might be able to connect using my second FTP account so that I only have access to the upload/users/ directory.
