"Accumulate" A Value Of Column In MS Access Database Using Checkedlistbox

Apr 23, 2011

I am creating a system that records attendance of students. I designed it in a way that the user needs to load an Access Database into the system to populate the checkedlistbox, and then is able to check(tick) for whoever attends the class and click the Submit button.

Currently, i have my form able to Load from an MS Access Database to populate the checkedlistbox, but that's all. As for the Submit button, i would like it to check for selected items from the checklist and for every checked students, value "1" will be added to the "Attendance" column in the database for each particular record. Those that aren't checked would not have any changes to it.[code]...

Or maybe I need to create a 3-column grid?

CheckedListBox With Multiple Columns A Column Headers?

Mar 26, 2010

I need to create a checkedlistbox that has multiple columns and each column has a header. Is this possible? I can't really find much on Google. Here's the headers I need:

Checkbox Title Existing path Destination path

I have created these columns to the checkedlistbox I have in my form, but when it is run the headers don't show up. Also the items I'm adding don't seem to abiding to the column widths I put in. Also with the code I'm providing below the items don't display as multiple rows, meaning each item doesn't get displayed on a new row, but in a new column.

vb
For i = 0 To iMovies
Movie = New MovieItem()
Movie.tmdbid = CInt(StrBetween(moviestag, "<tmdbid>", "</tmdbid>"))

Adding A Column To An Access Database?

Jun 29, 2010

My program has an access database with a table called "Contacts". This table stores many values. I have a seperate table that stores surveys. Each contact should have a column for every survey, indicating whether or not the survey has been completed. However, this means I need to add columns to the database while the program is running. I tried the following code, which runs WITHOUT errors, but does not seem to actually add the column.

contactsDataAdapter = New OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter("SELECT * FROM Contacts", frmAdmin.con)
contactsCommandBuilder = New OleDb.OleDbCommandBuilder(contactsDataAdapter)
dtContacts.Clear()

Primary Key Column Value In MS Access Database

Jan 21, 2009

I'm using vb2005express for forms (front-end) and ms access database. I have a form with a master-detail setup. The problem I'm having is that when I set the primary key column to autonumber, I don't get the pk value generated in ms access database into my master datatable in forms when a new record is created. Then I tried setting the AutoIncreament to True in the pk column of the datatable in my dataset (forms). This generates a number in my pk column but its not the number generated in the database (since I think because the pk column is still set to AutoNumber). So I change the field property of my pk to Number in the access database and on my dataset (forms), i still have AutoIncrement to True.

This works okay since what it seems to be doing is getting the max value for the pk column when the datatable is filled upon form load. The problem now is that I normally don't do tableadapter.fill(datatable) at form load since I think there would be a performance issue if record counts around millions. What happens now is that when I create a new record, the pk generated is still 1 which will cause duplicate violation when saving to database. I'm not quite familiar with access features but in oracle, what I do is I create a sequence in database then I create a function that gets the next value of the sequence. Then at form load I set the datatable.column.default_value = get_sequence. How do I do this in ms access?

3 Column Checkboxes In Checkedlistbox Custom User Control

Jun 2, 2011

I need a way to have 3 colums of checkboxes inside a checkedlistbox. I know i could do it with a panel, labels and checkboxes. But having them all in the control would be more convenient. I'm pretty sure there is no direct way of doing this, so i assume i need to create a user control. If you're not completely sure what i'm trying to create, i'm going for something that looks like this: [URL]

.NET - Database To CheckedListbox?

Feb 22, 2012

Trying to get a database into my Checkedlistbox. This is the code I have so far: Private Sub CheckDevices_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load

Dim connectionString As String = "Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=N:DeviceList.accdb"
Dim str_DeviceList_Select As String = "SELECT * FROM DeviceList"
Dim myConnection As OleDbConnection
Dim myCommand As OleDbCommand
Dim myAdapter As OleDbDataAdapter
Dim myDataSet As DataSet

[Code]...

So I have the dataset with database in it, but I am struggling to get it from the dataset into the Checkedlistbox. Could someone do some quick code for this?Secondaly, I also want to set the checkbox's by using a string of integers which will look like "0110100110". If the value is a 1, I will want the corresponding checkbox to be checked, eg, "0110100110" So I would take that one, and check the 8th checkbox down in the checkedlistbox... So if anyone if feeling really generous, could use a little help with this as well.

DB/Reporting :: VB - Database - Checkedlistbox - User Browses For And Opens A Dbf File

Oct 30, 2008

Here's what I'm attempting: The user browses for and opens a dbf file. The user is presented with a checkedlistbox which shows the column headers. The user then selects the columns they wish to run a report on. ex. total # of cells not empty, longest cell length, etc.

I'm to the point of populating the checkedlistbox with all of the columns shown but I'm unsure if the users selections are actually linked to my data and if they are how I go about isolating said selections for the reports. I have a feeling that my approach to populating the checkedlistbox is not the proper way for what I'm trying to accomplish.

Here is the code
