Feb 21, 2012How to use a databound combo box to display one field in the drop down, and another as the combo box text on roll up? Using VS 2005... For example, I have a datatable that has 2 fields. One called "ShortDesc" and one called "LongDesc". I want to be able to see the "LongDesc" column values in the drop down on the combo box. When I make a selection, I want the text in the combo box to read the corresponding "ShortDesc" value.

Sep 4, 2010I'm making a front end to dvdauthor.I have a picturebox which holds the menu background. In order to draw a textbutton on the background image I store the image in a hidden picturebox. So the text doesn't get drawn to the visible background.

This works the first time. But if I hit save again it writes the text to the background image on pbMenu1.

Jun 10, 2010I want to VALIDATE Image Combo control just like the one that is in CommonDialog control. Now I have to choices:1. Put validation routine in Click Event, it works fine if I only use mouse, but if I use keys (Arrorw, PgDn-PgUp, Home-End, etc) Click Event is invoked.2. Put validation routine in Validate Event, perfect; but I will work until when focus is moved to other control.How CommonDialog Image Combo does work? I can open it with mouse click or with F4, then I can move across options with mouse or keys and, when I click a choice or press Enter is when validate routine is invoked.

Nov 20, 2010I need to to able to save multiple text-boxes and a combo-box to a text file. the thing is, when I go to save, I check out the .txt file manually and its saved all in one line, no spaces. when I go to "read" it with the 2nd part (<-----this is a 2 part Challenge) it even reads all from that one line in the text file. Text And Image Manipulation In The Form Of Hiding Messages Within The Image?
Apr 1, 2010i have an assignemnt in my visual basic express 2008 class, were i have to type in an image name, like paris.jpeg,and automatically manipulate the file to be called paris-steg.png. Once this happens i click the manipulate image button and the image should be altered so that paris-steg.png has a message hidden in it. Then i have to decode that message. At this point im having troubel getting the file name to automatically appear as paris-steg.jpeg, and you will proabbly see why with my code. I need to know how to do this. The way i have it, i basiaclly add -steg.png onto the text typed into the text box, this doesnt work when the user types in paris.jpeg as it comes out as paris.jpeg-steg.png. heres the instructiosn and my code

When one uses the mouse to open the drop down menu, the text appears to be missing, but when you click on a entry, the text appears in the box at the top of the combo box (the thumb?). So I think this is the first.I have figured out how to get a datareader to pull data from a MySQL database, pass it from a module back to my form, but when I try to put it in a combobox, the text is always left-aligned. I had never thought about this before because I think I have only ever put text in one before in VB6. I guess I could call the Load sub directly from Form2 in order to load Form1 , but I wouldn't like that because with the Load event some other code will run , which I don't want it to .
