I am trying to add a double line in my program on its own line to separate a heading and the data contained underneath the heading. Im sure the code is easy, but im sick of trying to figure it out. I want it to look like this "============" but without the spaces between.

I built an app in VB 2008 Express.I have published it by using the Publish tab of the project properties dialog. In other parts of the publish dialog, I have successfully associated a file extension (.xyz) with my app. To finally publish it, I click the Publish Now button, not the Publish Wizard.The app publishes fine, and after installing it by clicking on the resulting Setup.exe file, it runs fine. The app creates a .xyz file (essentially a text file). I then close the app. In Windows Explorer, I can see the .xyz file with my custom icon. When I double click on the .xyz file, my app starts up.So far so good.
Now I need to implement reading the contents of the .xyz file in my main form's load event.I thought it was going to be easy by following a snippet to read the command line, and with the knowledge that the filename clicked on is the first argument (item 0 of the argument collection).So I started testing like this:

I am trying to make the program close if the -1 string is sent with the program. See my installer allows for me to run certain programs before it actually installs, but it doesn't shut down copies of the program itself. So I have a next startup instance set to shut the program down if the -1 is received. But if the program is not running it starts up instead. This is not desired. form1.close doesn't work. e.cancel = true doesn't work, etc etc. What can I do to make the program not start during this instance.

I'm coming to end of a program I've been writing for quite some time now. In this program, I use text files to store/retrieve all the data I need for the program. I've save each file with text characters, with a file extension of .fad.
The problem is, how do I make it so when someone double clicks on one of my .fad files, it launches my program and opens that file?
how can I get my own icon to appear on my .fad files?
I have a situation where I am handling both single & double mouse click events on a form. In both cases something has to be loaded, however when a double click occurs, I do not wish to execute the code attached to the single click event.Is there a way to intercept the mouse click's and check if double or single and then execute the right event appropriately?

View 3 RepliesI have a htpc project that I am working on. The main program loads dll plugins which are basically other win forms. On each of these forms, including the main program, I use a picturebox (a double buffered picturebox) for the background image and then draw everything on it by hand. Whenever I load the form from the dll and show it, I get a weird flicker. It looks like it is the previously used double buffer. Is there any way to clear the background double buffer before the flicker? Or am I going in the wrong direction?

Notice the black screen with the white lines on it or the flash of the desktop after I click "Movies." How do I get rid of that?
For greater accuracy I should use a Decimal instead of a Double ( so I've been told ). Why then have Microsoft chosen to use DOUBLE for most of the functions that return a floating point value in the Math Class?

I thought VB would be great for helping people be more familiar with bioinformatics. Unfortunately, I'm brand new to VB and am stuck with my first program.
All I want to do is have a window pop up where the user then selects a file from an OpenFileDialog box, and pass the filename to a bioinformatics program names msconvert. What I've been doing keeps giving me a message that seems to says, "Unhandled exception has occurreed in your application. . . . File not found."
However, as you can see in my code (below) I have a MsgBox that shows that the correct file HAS been selected, and I can get the whole thing to run from command line.[code]....
