I would like to Add a sub program into the current program i am making in visual basic. I have no idea what the command. I would like it to be able to go to a new tab and have the program running.
I have to say, the search box in this forum is questionable. searched for this:My.Application.Info.Versionand got lots and lots of hits and not one post actually had those words.....Anyway, I want an About msgbox to popup with the publish version displayed. In my project properties, under the Publish tab, Visual Studio has the following:
I have a current program that I have developed using visual basic and it does everything I want, however, I would like to "experiment" with the code and add other things to it but I don't want to mess up the code by working on my original project. How do I copy the project so I have it safe and have one I can "play" with.
I had a for a program that would grab the current url and display it in like a label or something on my VB project. I have no idea how I'd go about doing this. The thing I'd like to do is simple, but I just don't understand how...For example:
1) Click a command button on my VB Project
2) Say I'm currently on [URL] it grabs this url and places it on my VB project.

I'm looking for a little assistance in creating a network printer. I will have all the information required to create it, but I'm not sure where to start looking. I just need to create a printer in the current session of the user running my program.
I have some items in a listbox and a try catch. I need it where if the program catches an error with the current listbox item to move on to the next one.
I am trying to create a program in Visual Basic which will measure the performance of the CPU with every core, one at a time. In this program, I decided to place a couple of text boxes that display the processor speed and the actual processor speed. I need to get the actual processor speed to update and I have tried doing this already using a timer set to tick every second. However, when I load the program it runs really slowly and prevents me form doing anything within the program, including trying to close it down, and all it does is updates the text box every second. I have looked in task manager to find out how much CPU the program is using and it shows that my program is using 0 - 3% CPU.
Here is the code currently use
Private Sub Timer3_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Timer3.Tick Dim mSearcher As New ManagementObjectSearcher("SELECT * FROM Win32_Processor")
I want to add a browse button to my program to browse for a pdf file and then it should upload the file to my programs working directory. I need some help in the creation of a program to generate a security code based on the current date. I need to create something that first multiplies the MMDDYY (ie X=MM * DD * YY) then also adds the MMDDYY then finds the remainder and then multiplies but a specified number. I would like to create a small program that sits in the system tray with this code displayed. The code will always need to be 6 characters, so I might need to pad it with zeros. It has been years since I took basic VB, and I am really rusty.
SECOND = arguments checked against each other but are irregardless of the FIRST arguments.
If (FIRST and (FIRST or (FIRST and FIRST))) OR (SECOND or (SECOND or SECOND or (SECOND and (SECOND or SECOND)))) then As the program processes this line over a million times during the execution, only FIRST or SECOND section is needed during an execution, never both. How do I make the program use only the section that's needed for the current execution instead of checking every argument every time? Is there a way to turn a string into an argument list for an IF...THEN statement? [code]
I am making a program that NEEDS to be password protected, so i made a textbox with a code so that when the user enters the right password it lets you in. But if the user/person enters a wrong password 2X it will kick you out. So is there a way to keep the
I wrote this VB program to be able to throw a device we developed into programming mode where we use an ATMEL Flip installer to upload new firmware. I can program one device after another running the application off of Visual Studio Express 2010 or Visual Studio 2010, but when I go to publish this file and run it on another machine, it becomes unstable and crashes after each upload. On those same computers if I run the raw unpackaged program under Visual Studio Express, the system does not crash, and I can program devices repeatedly.
Dim IncomingCommand As String = e.CommandLine.Item(0).ToString
If IncomingCommand.Substring(0, 2) = "-1" Then
form1.close()
End If
End If
I am trying to make the program close if the -1 string is sent with the program. See my installer allows for me to run certain programs before it actually installs, but it doesn't shut down copies of the program itself. So I have a next startup instance set to shut the program down if the -1 is received. But if the program is not running it starts up instead. This is not desired. form1.close doesn't work. e.cancel = true doesn't work, etc etc. What can I do to make the program not start during this instance.

I've been working on a program that generates a batch file, then when you press a button, it executes that batch file. There are multiple batch files attached to each item in the list box.
[code]...
The only thing that it does when I press the button, is starts the batch file, then goes to function searchtitle, which executes the batch file again when it finds out it didn't work properly. The button text doesn't change, none of the items are being added to my first list box, and I can't do anything to the window after pressing the button. It constantly opens the batch file every 5 seconds or so.
How can you add a image where when you double click on the icon and the program starts it shows a picture before the program loads. Like Photoshop startup or the new 2010 visual Basic express start up
I have a procedure at the end of my console application that ask the user to either hit enter to end the program, or type s to perform another search. The issue I'm having is no matter what the user types in the program end. What I would like to happen is if the user types s, then the program starts over and lets the user perform another search. The program is procedural and I need to find a way to start back off at the top of the program which ask the user to type a name to search.
Anyway, I'm a teacher and am writing a program that simply shows kids a word on a flashcard. There are 2 buttons, 1 to read the word and 1 to go to a new work. There are going to be 300 words. Really I'm just testing it right here. What I want to know is should I be inputting all the words right into the code like I did with "hi" and "not 1" (Don't ask. those are just the 2 random words I picked to test this out with). OR is there a better way (maybe somehow to type all the words on a text file and have the program randomly pull one of them (I don't know how to do this).
Here is the code so far:
Public Class Form1 Dim word Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
In class i saved my program in with load of other test programs for the same assignment and got everything mixed up i finally figured out what was what and loaded the program in Visual Basic. Now my program doesn't recognize one of my forms when i try to access the design view of it. I hit run for the hell of it and the program runs with errors of course but the form1 "the missing one" shows up with all the buttons etc and i can use it.
