I am using VB.NET 2010. I have a Windows 2008 Web Server, where about 80 user accounts are activated. It is NO Active Directory Environment!!! This is a server, where Windows SharePoint Services are hosted. So, once a year, I have to give all users a new password. (I have to give it, because of some security thinkings of the owner of this Page). So, changing the password for each person is a very long activity. How can I do this by a VB.NET Program? - When I am logged on as an Administrator to this server?

View 4 RepliesIn the windows form designer, I added a StatusStrip control, made some changes to adding items and changed the names of the items to names I would recognize, for instance I changed "ToolStripStatusLabel3" to "lblMode". All was fine until I inadvertenly deleted the StatusStrip. Now when I add it back to the form and try to change the name I get an error saying that the name "lblMode" is already in use. And sure enough it is listed in the items of the properties window, but not dislayed anywhere.
I am not sure how to resolve this. I know there is a window, I think its called "Project Designer" or something similar that is code where controls get added but I CANNOT find this window to view the code.
I have a query in a myTableAdapter that ends with WHERE column IN (@S). This works fine when I use myTableAdapter.Fill(dataset.table, "text") but I can't find any way that works to provide multiple text strings such as "text1, text2" for the IN parameter.

In VB.NET I used wscript.shell to add a shortcut to the desktop. I didn't realize it created the shortcut on the "All Users" desktop, which means I can't delete it. I don't have admin rights as this is my work computer, and asking for admin isn't an option. WScript.Shell has a createshortcut method but not a remove shortcut method! I've been googling for days with no luck. Windows XP Pro 2002, SP3.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to bind a datagridview to a tableadapter which contains a query that requires parameters (for the WHERE statement of the query). The datasource is a SQL Server database. When I bind the datagridview in design view, it does not let me choose which tableadapter method I would like to use. The way I've been fixing this is to go into the code behind that form, where Visual Studio puts in some auto-generated code that fills a datatable in the dataset and I change the method that it's using there and put in my parameters. I don't think this is the proper way to do it, however, especially because sometimes that code doesn't even get generated! My other solution is to just programatically bind the datagridview to a datatable which I have filled using the tableadapter. This seems like more work than it should be, though.
View 5 RepliesI am trying to add NewRow to the database by using datatable in dataset, but before I do that I want to make sure that row is not already there. I create new row for the datatable I am working with, fill it with information. I fill datatable with the row from database that has the same primary key as my NewRow by using tableadapter.fill method, but when I do that my NewRow that was never added to the datatable is filled with information from database(and not information that I assigned to it). I count rows in my datatable before I fill it and it's 0, so why is my NewRow affected by Fill command? (I am using VB.NET 2005 Framework 2.0)

Banging my head against a wall here. I have a query that looks like this.
SELECT FirstName, LastName, Address
FROM Members
WHERE FirstName LIKE 'JOE%'
That works absolutely fine in query wizard and the DataTablePreview data window. However, when I do this.
SELECT FirstName, LastName, Address
FROM Members
WHERE FirstName LIKE ?
I get nothing when I run the fillby method. If I change the LIKE to =.
SELECT FirstName, LastName, Address
FROM Members
WHERE FirstName = ?
Everything works great. I need to get LIKE working though so I can wildcard search.
I'm using the SQL server OLE db connections if that means anything.

Using the LIKE operator doesn't work at all. When I just swap out = for LIKE. Nothing is returned.
I used the query designer to create a qry from a datagrid view in vb2010 express, the idea was to work out which diver logged the most minutes in the water. here is a copy of the sql syntax:

I am trying to Impersonate different users in order to find differences between two directories. This is my Code, but i get Access denied when the query executes. Notice that the users are correct and the above impersonation works when both DirectoryInfo executes.

how i can get a list of users who are members of a group in Active Directory. A vb.net example would be great. I can list all users in AD, but cannot get just the users in a group.

I have a method in a webservice that has parameter with which users can decide how they want to order their results. This is a List(Of String) with the names of the fields in the order they want to sort them. I know I can normally order on multiple columns by doing the following

However in this case this won't work since I can't chain the ThenBy function because I'm adding the sorting orders in a loop. To use ThenBy I need an IOrderedQueryable collection. This is how I would want it to work

I have a program that adds controls on the fly to an auto-scroll panel. When the panel is scrolled (viewing the bottom of the panel for example) and a control is added, it looks like it is added assuming the top left corner of the panel is still at 0,0 when in fact it may be 0,500. i have multiple forms in a project and all have statusbar. there is no way to add textbox on status bar but in my previous thread i got the help to add the text box. i created a function in module so that i call that function from all the forms on load and add the textbox on status bar and also add the event on textchange. the function to be called on event change is in individual form (at present)[code]
