Adding A Date In A Text File?
Jun 8, 2011I have a program i wrote today, it works just as i wanted it to, with exception of one problem. Im more looking for some ideas on this one. For my work, we have folders on a drive that are filled with txt files, what we wanted to do was to add the last date it was modified to the top of the file so people would know when it was last modified. These files are used on CNC machines and the those people cant look at a last modified date as easy as the computer user can, just a short explanation of why we wanted to do this. So i wrote a program to do it, loop through each file in the user selected folder and add a date to the top of it, works perfect. Now here is the issue, when i write the last mod date to that file, the last mod date on the file changes to that day. For example, if i have a file in there that was modified January 28th 2011, the program reads that file, then on the top of the file it prints that date, January 28th 2011, but then that same file gets changed to the current date as a modified date, so if the program i wrote is used again on the same folder the next day, those files will all end up getting the previous days date on the top. I dont want that! I guess im wondering if there is a way to tell the files mod date not to get updated when its run through my program, it should only update when changed some other way, like someone actually opens it, changes stuff and hits the save button.

Text Change - Creating Sub Routine For Adding Name Of File

What I Want To Happen:- When the user saves there work I want the name of the file to be shown next to the name of the program at the top left hand side of the form. Adding Text After Text To Split Strings?

What I would like to do is split it so it shows in a listbox as

document3.txt
I have come up with a solution which may work. Its preety over complicated too me but this is the only way I could think of?
What I need help on is a code so that after every ".txt" it will place a "/" so the string will look like this:
document1.txt/document2.txt/document3.txt/
Then I would use this code to split the string:

May 20, 2009So I'm in the final stages of finishing a program I've been working on for nearly a year now, and this is basically my final hurdle. The Save dialogue is working beautifully, with 'flags' in order to switch it over from the regular input into text boxes to the Listbox input protocol.
However, I'm having a *** of a time getting it to take lines from the text file and put them in the proper text box. Here is an example file:

So with the sample file I provided above, in the textbox named callNameText would appear "SHOWNAME", and so on and so forth. With this build, I get a NullReferenceException on the "Me.Controls(strboxNames(i)).Text() = strAllText(ati)" line.

Jul 28, 2011i am writing a golf score program and i have 18 text boxes. i also have a text box that will calculate the total of all of the 18 other text boxes. what would be the best way to add these text boxes? i have already written code to only except numbers 1 thru 8 for each text box.i started with some code like this:
TextBoxTotal.Text = CInt(TextBoxHole1.Text) + CInt(TextBoxHole2.Text) + CInt(TextBoxHole3.Text)
but if there is no value in one of the text boxes i get an error:Conversion from string "" to type 'Integer' is not valid.so i am guessing i need to check for empty strings and then ignore them

Mar 22, 2010am having a big problem trying to make a program that will add multiple text boxes together.What I need to do is add all the text boxes together. If it is less then three leave it alone, if it is more then three then put a 10% discount on it. There are also other charges but the main thing I'm struggling with is adding the text boxes.

Dec 17, 2011I have developed a VB.NET application that generates code in a specific format. It has a multitude of features and everything works great. I recently added the ability to save generated code to a text file as well as the ability to load those text files into the application. I am looking to add one last feature (perk). I want to include a bunch of pre-coded text files with the application, that new users can load and use immediately. As of right now I have the application creating the directory they will go in, but can't find anything on how to include the text files and have them placed in that directory. This application uses one-click deployment (in case that matters).

Jan 25, 2010I don't know how to add colored text to a richtextbox.
To make already existing text colored, I have tried things like:
RichTextBox1.SelectionStart = RichTextBox1.Find("colored word")
RichTextBox1.SelectionColor = Color.Blue
RichTextBox1.SelectionLength = 0
..so it will change the color of the found word.
The problem is, when the "colored word" exists multiple times in the textbox, it will never change theirs color. It only searches for the first "colored word" and it wont affect the others.
It would be even better when someone knows how to directly add colored text instead of changing it when it's added.

At the moment, i have a list box, a text box and two buttons one for adding what is typed into the text box and one for deleting what ever is selected in the list box. i understand that for the adding from the text box to the list box i use the button1_click and need to define the entry as a variable but how do i move it accross to the list box? and also how would i delete the items in the list? the code is as follows: cmdAddZp_click is the add button, Zp is the text in the text box called txtnewZp and the list box is lstZp.
