I have an app that, depending on what day it is, exports a few reports from accsess, then emails them using gmail.the app works from my machine - xp pro, test machine - Vista Ultimate, but neither of the machines that it is supposed to be working on remotely. All user names passwords, authentication method etc are correct as i don't believe they would work on a local or virtual machine otherwise.Remote machines are running Vista, they use the Gmail account that is programed in, the firewalls are off. error returned is simply "Failure sending mail"machine is of course connected to the internet and normally able to send and receive mail. code used (or at least a big chunk of ) below
Emaildays:
'now that we have the access reports exported, lets send them
Dim Emails As New System.Net.Mail.MailMessage(My.Settings.frominfo,
I need to write a program allowing the user to enter up to five passwords at one time. I have the textboxes set the way I need. When the user presses the button, the code should check every password they ve entered, and flag any passwords that are invalid. A valid password includes the following:
At least 6 and not more than 15 characters At least one uppercase alpha character At least one lowercase alpha character At least one numeric character
I'm a little confused about how to check each character of the entered passwords for these conditions.Because it must include alpha characters, I believe I have to do something with ASC and CHAR variables. This is my first post and I need to have this done within a few hours, haha. Help would be awesome.
Any way to import passwords into all program downloads. For example, if I wish to give a certain user a password I can somehow insert it into a program, and it updates all the programs which have been downloaded. It just saves editing the code, then releasing another update to include new passwords for people to use. Maybe if there's someway to auto update when an update is available, it would work. Here is the coding for a password. I just need to find a way with will mass update everybody's program when I want to add a new password for another person.
Private Sub ButtonX2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Verify.Click My.Settings.Password = TextBoxX3.Text My.Settings.Save() Incorrect.Visible = True [Code] .....
I use AES encryption in my vb.net 2008 windows forms apps to ....
1. Store user passwords in sql server express database in encrypted form
2. decrypt the encrypted Sql server express connection string password on the fly when connecting to SQl Server over a vpn or direct to web based sql server database
3. decrypt the encrypted ftp site password on the fly when my application connects to my ftp site to upload client's database backups
The issue I have is that the secret key for the encryption / decryption is hard coded within the encryption/decryption functions. So anybody who decompiled my application would be able to generate the same encryption, as they would have the encryption secret key How can you hide the encryption secret key so that if anybody decompiled my app they could not reproduce the decryption function
I am writing a program that accepts a user name and password (the password must show up as *s). The user gets three tries to enter the correct information before the program is closed. So far I have the password showing up as the password in clear text the first time and in *s the next two times. The authentication also fails even when I use the correct user name and password which are password and user for now.
Public Class frmPassword Private Sub btnOK_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnOK.Click Static intCounter As Integer = 0 intCounter = intCounter + 1
I need to authenticate a user against LDAP/AD (windows 2008 r2) so I can leverage the domains password rules etc... I found code that will allow me to validate a users ID and Password entered into a form (using System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry) but my problem is if the user enters an invalid password more that AD is configured to allow, the account gets locked out. Is there anyway around this?
I am trying to set up a new internal system for my client currently, they insisted on integrating the login with AD, which makes sense, and i have managed that with no problem. However what i also want to do, after authentication, is to store some user details / attributes as session variables. I have the following code to aithenticate the user:
'this function authenticates against AD - very simple and works nicely. Function AuthenticateUser(path As String, user As String, pass As String) As Boolean Dim de As New DirectoryEntry(path, user, pass, AuthenticationTypes.Secure)
[code]....
which works nicely, and once the function returns me a True, i set Session("LoggedIn") as True.what i need to do is (hopefully within the above function) save the user's name, and 2 other custom atributes from within the user's AD profile.How would i access those (hypothetically)
I am trying to implement login page using Form Authentication in ASP.net using vb code.I follow the steps in How To Implement Forms-Based Authentication in Your ASP.NET Application by Using Visual Basic .NET. I created a function in login page :
Private Function ValidateUser(ByVal strUsername As String, ByVal strPassword As String) As Boolean and call it in btnLogIn_Click Protected Sub btnLogIn_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnLogIn.Click[code].....
Things works fine and i can get the username display in label.However,I need to get more user data like UserName, Fullname and RoleCode. Also, i would to display the user's fullname to instead of usename in welcome message. I was told this can be done using FormsAuthenticationTicket method to store addictional user data in the "my user data" section. Do i need to create a user data class to store the user data and then use it in the FormAuthenticationTicket? If yes, how should i do it?
I'm making a login form in VB.NET, and I have a table in mysql called user. What I want to do is before a user can login the Administrator column of the user table must be TRUE and the DELETED column must be FALSE. I've tried everything I know but all non admin users are still able to login... Heres how the user table looks like:
I'm creating a car class. Make and model are properties but both make and model appear to be reserved words in C#. What's the best practice for naming properties/methods when your preferred name is a reserved word?My first instinct is to call the properties CarMake, CarModel (so a convention of ClassNamePropertyName).My mistake, make and model aren't actually reserved words. VS intelliesense and code coloring made it appear so to me at first glance. Though my question does stand for future reference.
I'm writing an application which has user authentication system, basically, when the user open the software, he has to enter his/hers username and password which are retrieved form a access data base, and if the user is set as admin then it enable some features, I couldn't figure out how to read the column lets say, IsAdmin table, which will store an value of 1 or 0 for example. I need a concept of how build a login system with levels or whatever you guys call it...
I have been trying for days to populate a combobox with user names from our LDAP. I can not seem to get this to work however I am really new to LDAP also. Here is my code...
I am writing a code-generator that will need to output some miniscule portions of VB.NET code, and since this is a code generator that will add user-provider code, I'd like to try to avoid type name conflicts with types or names in the user-provided code.
In C#, I can prefix types with global:: to make sure they're matched from the global type namespace hierarchy, rather than some local name, but is there a similar system for VB.NET? ie. this: global::System.String
Ive been trying to figure out what report I should use as it appears I have crystal reports built in and also have Microsoft Report Viewer in this VB 2008.What I need to do is give the user a list of names and when a ame gets clicked it will show all the details in a report.I have loaded a ListView Control with the names from my database and this is letting the user pick a report so I can get the name and ID number of the record to show this way and just need to figure out how to get that record onto a report and what report to use?Ive done similar in VB6 but have never looked at .Net. The data is comming from an access database.
The local car rental company rents cars for 29.95 per day with unlimited mileage. There is a refueling fee of 12.95; regardless of what the level of fuel is when the car is returned. Write a program that will permit the user to input the customer's first and last names and the number of days that the car was rented. The program should compute the total charge for the car that was rented.
I have to do this: A. using a standard window B. Using a WPF window (And I don't even know what that means) C. Using a console application
I have a DataGridView which populates from an SQL query just fine in default mode
using these table names [firstName] [varchar](20) NOT NULL, [lastName] [varchar](20) NOT NULL,
[code]....
I have edited the column headers and set the column names to the same values as my table names yet the data is not showing in form load I have set datagridview.AutoGenerateColumns = False I know the data is there if I delete datagridview.AutoGenerateColumns = False then the data is shown with the default headings?
I'm building an online shop, but have run into a problem.When the user click that they want to add a product to their basket, i add the product ID to an array that is held on the session.This all works great and i display how many items they have selected etc..The problem comes when i get to the checkout page.Whats the best way of displaying the items that the user has selected? should i use a datagridview? if so, how do i pass the array into the SQL in order to get all the data rows that i need?
should i use a repeater? this gives me the same problem as above though.I just cant seem to work out how to get the values fro the array and then run the sql for each ID to get the information to show on the screen.I could loop through the array using each ID as a parameter in the SQL but then where do i put the data? in a dataset? a datatable?
Consider a MyForm class that contains a shadowed implementation of Show(). It also contains a CreateForm() method, which accepts an instance of the form and calls the shadowed sub:
I made project using VB.Net 2005 with multi languages, the first form is MDIParent form with MainMenu and toolbars also there is some changes in properties as righttoleft and text of forms.In my Mainmenu (Menustrip) there is opetion to change the UI Culture and I have already done but I need to change all texts in the form as mainmenu items anf form properties.My quetion is: how can I reload my form again to read the new texts names and mainmenu items names from resx file?
I am doing work for a client who has lost the source code for one of their VB.Net WinForms applications. The assembly they have is not obfuscated at all. I am trying to recover as much of the source as I can as C# source and have tried several tools for decompiling assemblies, including Reflector, ILSpy and JustDecompile (all the latest versions), but they all produce code with a huge number of errors in them. Because of the large number of errors in the generated code, I am going to ask about the specific errors (in different questions), get more directed answers and in this way try shed some light on why all the tools are having difficulty decompiling this assembly. This question pertains to the fact that the code generated by all these tools always have a large number of invalid member variables (fields) such as the following:
private short $STATIC$Report_Print$20211C1280B1$nHeight; private ArrayList $STATIC$Report_Print$20211C1280B1$oColumnLefts; private StaticLocalInitFlag $STATIC$Report_Print$20211C1280B1$oColumnLefts$Init;
why the generated code has these invalid member variables?
Is there any way to get common control names like Save, Copy or Undo Redo in the user's windows language? (I saw this in some programs which weren't made for my windows language. Also the Yes No Massage Boxes will change...)
I would like to make a method excute right before the user get back controle of the program. No matter what chain of events happens i would like to beable to have a method is always the last thing to excute. I plan on using the method to check the form and the data on it. I have no issues righting the method, I just don't know if their is a event or some other way to make sure it is always the last thing to excute. (Sorta like a validation method) Is their an easy way to do this?
So far i have a really basic form application that allows a user to enter some information and does a small calculation, displaying all of the information gathered on the final form.
Im looking to try to save this information but have no idea where to start,im trying to just take whatever is in my text field and put it in a table row. I created a one table database in Access and linked it to the form with a button to try and save it.
I thought it would be as simple as tablename.rowname = textbox.text or something but apparently not and all ive ended up with so far is this:
Private Sub btnSave_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnSave.Click Me.Validate() Me.TblCustomerBindingSource.EndEdit() Me.TblCustomertableadaptor.Update(Me.DatabaseDataSet.tblCustomer) End Sub
I dont even think im close, ive just been fiddling with the predefined code in Visual Studio, trying import ect but the button just doesnt seem to do anything.
