View 4 RepliesI am making a program that automates the seperation of a csv file. We read the csv in through and then assign the "line" using a split command to an array. After that we go through each "cell" in the array and put an = in front because this causes leading zeros not to be lost. Here's the code.
arLine = line.Split(replace)

cell = cell.Replace(",", "")
cell = String.Format(cellFormat, cell)
Next
arLine is the array and replace is the delimiter, in this case a pipe not that it matters.'
When it goes through, the arLine is correct but the values in each cell are not changing, any thoughts? newer to VB.net and need direction
I have a table of 51 data points all numbers between 0 and 8000, i have stored the data in an array of ushors's, and on my form i have 10 numerical text boxes, So that the user can change the values in the table every 5th value. Using the value changed event the program then re-calculates the values in-between.
What i would like to do is show the table in a data gridview and allow the user to change the values in the array using the datagrid view, i know how to create a table but not how to link the table, so that it can change the values contained in the array.

I have a csv text file, shown below that I want to edit based on user inputs. When the user wants to change the current price of a stock, they enter the stock name, and the new price. When the button is clicked, VB needs to find the appropriate stock, and then change the current price.The data needs to be pulled from the text file into a temporary file, changed, then the temp file needs to be renamed to the original file name and the original file deleted.This is the only part of the program I can not figure out. I have put my program code here as well. am working on an app that generates 2 random numbers. When the numbers match it plays a sound. I'm trying to keep count of each time this accurs by using a label to hold the number each time it counts. I have a timer that basically counts a number up in sequence in a label. On the On Text Change sub for the label I have functions run when the label is at a specific number. Everything works fine, the only problem I have is I have information pulled from an ODBC link to a pervasive database every second, which slows down the program. I have several flash components that run so slowly because of the data update. Now I have tried both using a dataset and coding the query but it is still ver slow and processor intensive, I think its because the Pervasive ODBC link is somewhat slow. Is there a way to have my data pull timer run in the background so that it doesnt effect the performance of the rest of the program?

I have a Windows form which contains a DataGridView within a GroupBox which is within a TabPage which is within a TabControl.The scrollbars property is set to 'Both' so that the user can scroll down to see all available rows in the grid.
I want the Windows Form to initialize to allow the user to see 7 rows but to expanded vertically to the size of 32 rows which is the maximum possible in this application.
Is there a way to size the form dynamically so the Form's Height property can be changed as the DataGridView's rowcount increases?

Using Access 2003 and VB code, I have created a form with a number of labels. The labels will display an employee's names. I have named the labels name1, name2, name3...etc. Using an ADO data set and DCount I have determined the number of names in an Access table (the number of names can vary). What I want to do is for each record in succession to pick the first name and surname from the data set , combine them into a full name (this part has been successful), and then set the full name into the label caption in succession. Example: full name 1 into name1, full name 2 into name2, full name 3 into name3... until all names appear as labels on the form.
I created a counter to and a variable to increment the label number but when I address the caption property of the variable containing the new label (e.g. name1, name2..etc.) it throws an errer at runtime. Here is the code:

I've been asked to get the page counts for documents stored as tif files. What I have now is looping through our third party software to open them and then get the page count. I can't stop the image from flashing and it is very slow. Does anyone know of a way to loop through them quickly and can the page counts (one image can have many documents)?
