I have a Windows form which contains a DataGridView within a GroupBox which is within a TabPage which is within a TabControl. The scrollbars property is set to 'Both' so that the user can scroll down to see all available rows in the grid.
I want the Windows Form to initialize to allow the user to see 7 rows but to expanded vertically to the size of 32 rows which is the maximum possible in this application.
Is there a way to size the form dynamically so the Form's Height property can be changed as the DataGridView's rowcount increases?
I am working on a project that has the user building scrapbook pages through several different forms. When the user selects something a presses a button I have the information about the selection load to a list box which is on a CheckoutForm. One of the options I have is for the user to save what they have made (this includes the information in the list boxes) and return to a previous form to build another page. I have been trying to use the Me.Close() but it does not save the information and using Me.Hide() displays the wrong elements on the forms.

I have a program that shows a small form appearing at the top of the right hand corner of the screen. When I switch to another opened program, the form disappears. How can I keep this form visible when I switch to another program? I set the TopMost property to true but it doesn't work.
View 1 RepliesWhen I create more than one instance of the same form and I call a method on any of these instances, the code only fires on the most recently created instance. Even when I click a button on that form, it executes on the other form. How can I call these and keep them as distinct objects?
For example: if I build Form1 with a public method called ChangeMyColor and a button to call that method. Then in the main app I set MyForm1 = New Form1
and MyForm2 = New Form1, then call MyForm1.ChangeMyColor, the color changes on the second instance. Even if I click that button on the first instance, the color still changes on the second.

I want the text of these two textboxes in My "Query" forms 's text box and I want the drop down as it is(filled with city and states)
I'm trying to upgrade an Excel VBA workbook to a VSTO Excel Add-in in VB.NET using VS 2010. In the original (i.e.- VBA) version I have a modeless UserForm (called frmMain) that floats on top and is visible at all times while the user is still within the Excel application, but is not visible if the user moves to another window outside of Excel.
For example, within Excel the user can click on any worksheet tab, select any cell, etc. and the UserForm is still visible. This is exactly how I'd like it. The problem is, that in the new VSTO add-in, I can not get the Windows form to mimic this same behavior. I use frmMain.Show() to show the form as a modeless form, but the moment the user clicks an Excel worksheet (i.e.- activates a worksheet) the form becomes hidden behind the worksheet.

am working on an app that generates 2 random numbers. When the numbers match it plays a sound. I'm trying to keep count of each time this accurs by using a label to hold the number each time it counts. It's working but when I use a label it only counts up to 9 then goes back to one and stays there. Here is a snippet of the code I wrote.

I've used this method in the past and it's worked but I can't figure out what's different about the environment now that's stopping this from working.I have a string that I want to assign array values to. I dim it then I go to assign and I get "Object reference not set". I have a timer that basically counts a number up in sequence in a label. On the On Text Change sub for the label I have functions run when the label is at a specific number. Everything works fine, the only problem I have is I have information pulled from an ODBC link to a pervasive database every second, which slows down the program. I have several flash components that run so slowly because of the data update. Now I have tried both using a dataset and coding the query but it is still ver slow and processor intensive, I think its because the Pervasive ODBC link is somewhat slow. Is there a way to have my data pull timer run in the background so that it doesnt effect the performance of the rest of the program?

I'm trying to make this program that counts the frequency of each letter in the alphabet for a set of ciphertext, the calculation i want to do is:lettersum*(lettersum - 1) + lettersum*(lettersum - 1) for however many letters example: User puts aabbcc in the ciphertext box , the output should be
2(2-1)+2(2-1)+2(2-1) =6 If the user inputs aaaaab the output should be 5(5-1)+1(1-1) = 20 The code I have so far only counts the last number of letters for example: aabbcc only reads the cc part and only outputs 2(2-1) = 2 instead of 2(2-1) + 2(2-1) + 2(2-1) = 6.The code below is part of a button_Click item

Write a program that counts the number of spaces in a string provided by the user
-You need to use the InStr function and start it at different points within the string on each loop of the Do Until control structure.
output- needs to state how many spaces that are in the string that was inputed in the text box

I've been asked to get the page counts for documents stored as tif files. What I have now is looping through our third party software to open them and then get the page count. I can't stop the image from flashing and it is very slow. Does anyone know of a way to loop through them quickly and can the page counts (one image can have many documents)?
View 5 RepliesHow can i get the combo box to keep the value that was partialy keyed in and completed with auto complete.Pressing enter doesn't select the value so when you tab out it keeps the entered auto completed value. The only way to keep the auto complete value is to click on the combo box with the mouse and then tab out of it. I would like some how of being able to tab out of the combo box and it keep the auto completed value that the user has entered so as to save time entering data so no mouse clicks are needed and the data grid view can be tabbed through and all data entered from keyboard.

View 5 RepliesI have developed a very simple application that disables system keyboard commands (ctrl+alt+del, alt+tab, etc), hides the taskbar, hides the desktop, etc.Upon entering a password the user can 'unlock' these options. This is being used with a restaurant POS system so no accidents can happen. However there seems to be one minor issue:In a separate software package (the POS software), at specific times, any application that is running (my locking application) will get focus and end up on top of the POS software.I want my locking software to remain underneath all running applications. Anyway to keep my locking application from gaining focus? I was thinking of maybe adding some line of code to send my locking application into the background whenever it gets focus..
