I'm trying to get information from a text box into an array. I've tried everything that I can think of from assigning it to a local variable then into the array, to assigning it straight to the array, but I can't manage to loop it all together and achieve functionality.

My goal is to, Pull information from a websight's textboxes in IE into my program textboxes. and to later Put changes from into other values on the websight from my program into it. as always I'm here asking you a probably stupid question, but I'm upgrading an old vb 6 project, so I'd like to have all the new code more object oriented and as compact as possible.I have a groupbox containing some textboxes. Each of them is filled with the "selecteditem.tostring" property of a listbox everytime I press a button (call it "OK BUTTON"), and everything works fine.

I am having trouble with .net again. I have a series of 10 text boxes. I want to be able to populate them from an array and read there values into another array. In vb6 I would create a text box array with 10 text boxes / indices. I could then populate them by txtbox(i).text = arrVal(i) and to reference them arrVal(i) = txtbox(i). I am stumped I can create 10 text boxes on a form if I have to, but I want them somehow tied to each other as they were in vb6.

I have to write an application that has the user input data in 3 separate text-boxes and press "OK" to save it. The user can repeat this as many times as they want.I then need the application to show the information inputted in each of the 3 separate arrays. Now I was told this can either be done by using a print page or by having another form show the information. I was told having another form would work best. In the second is the address and in the third is the city and in the fourth is the state and in the last one is the zip. View 4 RepliesI'm currently making a program that will be used to practice German. It reads from textfiles that have English words (noted by # prefix) and German words (noted by $ prefix). An example of this:

The way it currently works is it loads a text file, finds all # and splits to an array called "English" and finds all $ and splits it to an array called "German" What I want it to now do is feed the "English" entries into textboxes on the left, and "German" onto textboxes on the right so I can then match them out and make a sort of memory game out of it. Unfortunately, I don't know how I would loop an array through multiple textboxes. Conveniently, the textboxes on the left have even numbers, and the ones on the right have odd. Is there a way to possibly find all evenly numbered textboxes and loop "English" array entries into them, and the same for "German"? I've realised this has now gotten a little convoluted, but hopefully somebody understands. I can screenshot the form for better explanation, and copy my existing source code if anybody wants it.

View 4 RepliesIn VB6 I load a recordset containg all of the records (6 fields per record)in a table into an XArray and then manipulate the records in the array and then write them back to the original table. The array issorted by the first field (1 to maybe 8000 or more) I need to find records in the array by an ID field and then move them (because of some external criteria that happens many times) from say number 400 to number 375. Then all of the other records between 375 and 399 were renumbered up 1 to fill the gaps left by the move.
The XArray worked well as it could find and also move to a next record easily to facilitate the revisions to each record quickly. Everything is done in VB6 in code and nothing visual needs to be shown to the user until say 2000 of these external changes are complete. What is the best, most efficient way to do this in the .Net framework in VB2010. Datasets, Dataviews. tableadapters, arrays. enums ?
My assignment is to have a user enter in big integers using what i think is two parallel arrays. I got this far but now im stuck. I think i need to actually convert the text box input into an array but i do not know how to do that. I am all over the place in this project.

I have a VB.net console app and I am opening a function in a dll written in fortran. I am passing 3 arrays through the function by reference. When they come back out the otherside they ahve all tunred to arrays of only one element And that element is 0.I read on the internet somewhere that when doing this kind of thing it is a good idea to only pass the first element of the array into the function.I tried changing my function declaration to accepting single elements rather than single dimensional arrays, and now the arrays are the same length before and after the function call, but they don't seem to be changing at all, so i'm not sure that this is working

On my form, i've got some textboxes and some richtextboxes. I'm using the following code, to search through the text properties of each of the two types of control. see below:-

I was wondering if anyone knows a built in method ( LINQ say or a LAMBDA expression or other way ) that you can compare2 arrays - collections that would be valid for an equivalent 3rd array - collection which is a combination of the 1st two.

View 9 RepliesThe program is currently trying to pull information from three different database tables and compiling the information onto one screen, to do this i am using three different connections and a function to handle the data at each stage. The issue is as my code hits PageLoadStage of "2" and runs the QueryDatabase() Function i am encountering an error of: "OleDB exception unhandled: No value given for one or more of the required parameters." This occurs on line 15 of the first code snippet. Can anyone explain this and/or identify any code issues if that is the cause.

I have a text box where i am entering numbers of double datatype andon the Keytdown event of the textbox some checks take pace and in certain circumstances I want to be able to stop the user from entering other information until they enter the right information in the textbox (where it says right here) . now when I say exit sub the textbox somehow loses focus . but this is not how I want it to be I want the textbox to remain with the focus so the user can change the information . How can i go about this. And the other thing is why is my txtDestPayRate1.Focus() just befor the exit sub not working?

I am designing a backup/restore utility for work.atm i have been able to populate field for PC name, IP address, MAC address, number of printers installed on the PC but i am wondering is it possble to get all the printer information 'with the click of a button' to print all information like the prnmngr.vbs script down.I am able to run a batch file but i wanna get it to go from that app or even embed to batch file to the app and run it form there .
