Saving Information From Multiple Textboxes To Single File
May 28, 2009
I am trying to get the information inputted from multiple textboxes to save to a single text file.
Here's what I got.
Private Sub btn_done_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btn_done.Click
Dim FILE_NAME As String = "C:UsersTrevorDocumentsDraftAC est.txt"
Dim i As Integer
Dim aryText(2) As String
[Code] .....
I have a sign up sheet that I am working on for instance;
username password street address city state zip
I've been trying to save the textboxes individually but when I go to load the information everthing is pushed all into one textbox.....I'm also using the SaveFileDialog and OpenFil
I am using VB2008 now, couple of simple questions. 1) Is there some way to limit what my user puts in their textbox to numbers only? Or is there some way to check afterwards that the string only contains numbers and delete it if it contains anything else? 2) How to open a file, save the values of 5 text boxes into the file and then close the file?
I'm working on a program that is interacting with a simple Access database. When the form loads there need to be multiple text boxes that are bound to the same table and field in the database, Inventory_Table.Quantity, to display the quantity of the inventory. From there, orders are read into the system adjusting the inventory as necessary.
I need to specify what row these are each supposed to be bound to, because right now it is binding them all to row 0, which makes sense but is not what I want. Is this possible? Heres the code I have to bind currently.
Is there a way to write a single function that will control validating the input to any textbox? How to pass control of it.
E.g.: My second try was to: Dim CurrentTextBox As TextBox << Declare a global Write a function that uses the global textbox and takes in 2 parameters, one determining the length it has to validate and the second telling it what to do once the input is verified
Public Sub ConfirmInput(length As Integer, which As Integer) If (CurrentTextBox.TextLength < length) Then CurrentTextBox.BackColor = vbRed GoTo DONE ElseIf (CurrentTextBox.TextLength > length) Then CurrentTextBox.BackColor = vbRed [Code] .....
My first try was to pass a textBox parameter to the ConfirmInput function but I believe that's the same problem as above.
using the code below to save and reload the contents (text and images) of a Listview to a single file. The images are about 100x100 pixels. The problem is that if I save the images as JPG (they are already JPG when adding them to the ImageList/Listview), then after saving and reloading the data a dozen times, the images get distorted. When saving/reloading the images as PNG a dozen times, white spots starts to appear on the images. I guess this is because the images are converted over and over again when saving them.Is there a better to way save the contents of the Listview to a single file? I do not want to save the text and images seperately, because then the user has more to tamper with.
vb.net <Serializable()> Structure TB_INFO Public stdPic() As Byte
Basically I have a VB.net word processor application, With a; Rich Text Box Header Label(as system.windows.forms.label) Footer Label(as system.windows.forms.label) The printing is no problem, but the problem I am having is saving the header and footer label's text into the RTF file and also loading these into the header and footer labels.
I need to open some HTML file, then replace exact line of text with another, and then WITHOUT SAVING THE FILE (WriteAllLines(HTML01, lines)) to display in WebBrowser. My code in private sub of replacing the line is next:
My goal is to, Pull information from a websight's textboxes in IE into my program textboxes. and to later Put changes from into other values on the websight from my program into it. The sight has multiple textboxes, on different frames. within it.I need to keep it as a exsiting open browser instead of making a new one. only gotten as far as finding the open internet explorer window, by useing
basically im looking to have two textboxs with 3 buttons
TextBox1.text contains the path to the new file and
TextBox2.text contains the path folder to subdirectories
i have everything i need working, haha i know not much, this is only my second day with vb.I just needed a button now to carry out the function of copying the file i tried using simple file copy but i had to specify a file output in that and it only gave me option to copy it to one directory. For instance
C:index.php TextBox1.text <- loaded in from button 1
C:www* TextBox2.text <- button 2 loading subdirs
now i need a button 3 that would carry out the function of copying textbox1.text to all subdirs in textbox2.text.i thought i would have been able to use simple copy as stated above with wildcard in my program but no joy
I am trying to save multiple type of objects to a single file, objects are a custom class that I am able to serializable and another object is a word document that is not being able to serialize via binary. Is there a way to save multiple objects to one file using vb, also would it be possible to save files like how a docx is saved, that is a .zip renamed as docx but get access to inner objects.
I am trying to write a form with 6 text boxes that when the update button is pressed it will add the text from each textbox to a text file and the each one separated by a comma on one line. I know how to read/write from a file to a text box and vice versa but I cannot figure out how to add 6 textboxes to the file in one go.
I have a *.txt file which contains instructions and data, with its own comments (preceded by ! ), blank lines, and each instruction begining on a new line, but occassionally using two lines. Each instruction consists of several feilds seperated by a TAB. Finally each instruction ends in a comma. Only a few different instructions are there (10 different ones) but there are many of each. Spanning a good 2500 lines. Comments and blank lines are obviously of no interest to me. I merely need to read the instructions and the data that follows it.
Now, I have successfully used 'System.IO.StreamReader.ReadLine' to go through it line by line, picking out lines begining with certain strings (first 3 characters of a known instruction). All good, I can 'lift' out the lines of interest and store them, for them to be split up later (seperating their fields into instruction, data, etc..) and then into an array.
The problem is, since some of the data fields in these instructions are so long, it spans two lines, before it ends with a comma. Using the above method, I end up with two array entries for a single instruction, since I have stored individual lines rather than a complete instruction. The only similar situation I can tihnk of to explain this, is to pick out sentences in text, and store each one in a string. Of course these end with a period (full stop) but span two or more lines.
I am hesitant to post an example, since its formatting is rather strange, but it is generated that way from 3rd party software, so I cannot change that for my software application.Perhaps there is no 'graceful' way of doing this, meaning I would have to find a way of 'adding' the second line of the instruction, to the string of the first line. Or perhaps reading each line character by character, literally storing every number/letter until I reach a comma.
Say I have a code with 3 methods that do some pretty intensive work. Would executing these methods on 3 seperate threads be faster then executing them one after the other on a single core cpu? And what if it's a dual core or HT?
i'm having issues where I can't figure out how to take a text file that was provided for my homework assignment, and put the information within it into 3 different arrays. The .txt file looks like so:tc.Amanda/Ashley have to be in the same array as well as 4/2, 166/20.This is what I've come up with for the snippet of code, and so far, it hasn't really been working right.
Dim namearray(MaxItems), rankarray1990(MaxItems), rankarray2009(MaxItems) As String Dim Numitems As Integer Dim sr As System.IO.StreamReader
I've made a rudimentary program that combines multiple files into one single file. Currently if I combine two .csv files together the output comes out correctly for what I need, which is a coma delimited file. When I try to combine two .csv files into a .xls file it doesn't format correctly (I get all the data separated by commas, but thrown into one column in the .xls file). For this reason I believe I need to add a delimiter.I'll post my code below.
2. FunctionLayer -deals with Common Operations which get results from DataLayer and return results to Forms.3. User - deals with User. (For Reusing the User Class in other projects, i have separated this class)Here in Class2 - I have an instance of Class1( ie., DataLayer) for DB Operations.imilarly in Class3- I have an instance of Class1( ie., DataLayer) for DB Operations. Now in my form, If i create Instance of Class2. But When I need user functionality in this form, I have to create an instance of Class3 to this form.
I'm writing an application in vb.net 2008. It's basically a randomised image quiz. I have saved questions, answers and time taken to answer questions into 3 listboxes: listboz1, listbox2 and listbox3. I'm trying to add the content of all into a csv file. This is my code below which only saves the contents of one listbox to a txt file. How do I get a combination of all listboxes in the file with format (L1,L2,L3)? I alos want to add the user name and the date the test/ quiz was taken.
I am compiling a quiz, so the question number, user response and time taken to answer questions are sent to 3 listboxes. I wanted to save the file name (from the login form, date and listbox contents to a text file. I have scoured numerous codws...none of them work..all with errors. I have tried to look at Streamwriting listboxes. But can not find a way to add multiple listboxes to one text box. Actually none of the codes (including the Sub SaveToKnownFileWithDelimiter (below) I have looked at work.
This is my quiz code so far....
Public Class Form1 Dim intPic As Integer Dim pickedImg As New List(Of Integer)
Is there a simple way to save user input from MANY controls (textboxes, comboboxes, etc...) to a text file? When I say 'MANY', I am referring to at least 580 textboxes and several dozen comboboxes.
I may be able to accomplish this using the StreamWriter Class, but doing this individually would take quite a long time. I suppose I could also change all text boxes to richTextBoxes and save to .rtf. It seems like this would be even more time consuming.
Surely there is a simpler way to do this 'globally', perhaps with an added single line of code that points (and saves) to a preset or created text.txt file whenever text is added or changed in a textbox or combobox throughout the program.
I need to add this line to a text file that is going to have other information added to it several times. I also need to add this line and have the number change every time the additional data is added.
I know how to load a txt file into a single text box, but im having trouble loading a text file with multiple output information into multiple text boxes using commas to separate the information.
i am going to be saving data with DPAPI encryption. i am not sure whether i should just have one big file with all the data or should i break up the data into separate files, where every file is its own record. i suspect the entire dataset would be less than 10mb, so i am not sure whether it's worth it to break it down into about a few hundred separate files or should i just keep it one file?
Lets say you have a few text boxes, I know how to save the information in each box to a text file, but that creates a file for each box. Is it possible to save the contence of lots of different text boxes to 1 text file, and then when loading them it would load it all back to the right places?
I have a sign up sheet that I am creating for a project I'm working on and the sign up sheet works and I can enter all my data into the text fields and save the info but when I go to open the file again all the data is pushed into one text box and not in their own fields?
If there a trick in the SaveFileDialog that I can use to save each field to file then open them back in their own field?
Here's a screen shot of the before and after the program [URL]
