I am using VB2008 now, couple of simple questions.
1) Is there some way to limit what my user puts in their textbox to numbers only? Or is there some way to check afterwards that the string only contains numbers and delete it if it contains anything else?
2) How to open a file, save the values of 5 text boxes into the file and then close the file?
I am trying to get the information inputted from multiple textboxes to save to a single text file.
Here's what I got. Private Sub btn_done_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btn_done.Click Dim FILE_NAME As String = "C:UsersTrevorDocumentsDraftAC est.txt" Dim i As Integer Dim aryText(2) As String [Code] .....
I have four textboxes that only accepts numeric data.On each box is a corresponding checkbox.I want to have a button that will get the total sum of all textboxes wherein their checkboxes are on checked state.
I am trying to write a form with 6 text boxes that when the update button is pressed it will add the text from each textbox to a text file and the each one separated by a comma on one line. I know how to read/write from a file to a text box and vice versa but I cannot figure out how to add 6 textboxes to the file in one go.
I have A combo box with 5 values in: How would i save all 5 of those values to my file?sw.WriteLine(CustomerIDTextBox.Text + ":" + CustomerFirstNameTextBox.Text + ":" + what????? Once these values are saved how would i go about retreiving them from the file and displaying them back into the Combo box?
I have a sign up sheet that I am working on for instance;
username password street address city state zip
I've been trying to save the textboxes individually but when I go to load the information everthing is pushed all into one textbox.....I'm also using the SaveFileDialog and OpenFil
I've got a problem saving asci Values to File as Byte. I must save hex values to file, for this case i used the following line: fs.WriteByte(&H2D) This works fine, but i need to do this autmaticly. My Sourcestring is 2995030. Tried to do something like &H(Hex(str)), but this failed.
I'm writing an application in vb.net 2008. It's basically a randomised image quiz. I have saved questions, answers and time taken to answer questions into 3 listboxes: listboz1, listbox2 and listbox3. I'm trying to add the content of all into a csv file. This is my code below which only saves the contents of one listbox to a txt file. How do I get a combination of all listboxes in the file with format (L1,L2,L3)? I alos want to add the user name and the date the test/ quiz was taken.
I am compiling a quiz, so the question number, user response and time taken to answer questions are sent to 3 listboxes. I wanted to save the file name (from the login form, date and listbox contents to a text file. I have scoured numerous codws...none of them work..all with errors. I have tried to look at Streamwriting listboxes. But can not find a way to add multiple listboxes to one text box. Actually none of the codes (including the Sub SaveToKnownFileWithDelimiter (below) I have looked at work.
This is my quiz code so far....
Public Class Form1 Dim intPic As Integer Dim pickedImg As New List(Of Integer)
Is there a simple way to save user input from MANY controls (textboxes, comboboxes, etc...) to a text file? When I say 'MANY', I am referring to at least 580 textboxes and several dozen comboboxes.
I may be able to accomplish this using the StreamWriter Class, but doing this individually would take quite a long time. I suppose I could also change all text boxes to richTextBoxes and save to .rtf. It seems like this would be even more time consuming.
Surely there is a simpler way to do this 'globally', perhaps with an added single line of code that points (and saves) to a preset or created text.txt file whenever text is added or changed in a textbox or combobox throughout the program.
I am looking for a way to save and load the values of all my controls present in my form.My form has around 100 controls spread over 7 tabs. The controls include (Multiline) TextBoxes (Strings), NumericUpDowns (Integers, Decimals) and Checkboxes (Booleans). If the user clicks the save button a "Save File" dialog should appear allowing the user to specify the directory and the filename of the save file. All the values of the controls should then be written to that file.If the user clicks the load button an "Open File" should appear where the user can pick a previously saved save file. All the controls should then adopt the values found in the save file.I have implemented Application Settings in my form, and now when I click save, it saves the control values through My.Settings.Save(). If I click load it loads them. However, my project requires that multiple save files can be made to reflect multiple configurations. As I understand Application Settings only allow for a single .config file in the Application Data folder. So how can I code a save/load routine to save/load different configurations?
i am going to be saving data with DPAPI encryption. i am not sure whether i should just have one big file with all the data or should i break up the data into separate files, where every file is its own record. i suspect the entire dataset would be less than 10mb, so i am not sure whether it's worth it to break it down into about a few hundred separate files or should i just keep it one file?
Lets say you have a few text boxes, I know how to save the information in each box to a text file, but that creates a file for each box. Is it possible to save the contence of lots of different text boxes to 1 text file, and then when loading them it would load it all back to the right places?
I have a sign up sheet that I am creating for a project I'm working on and the sign up sheet works and I can enter all my data into the text fields and save the info but when I go to open the file again all the data is pushed into one text box and not in their own fields?
If there a trick in the SaveFileDialog that I can use to save each field to file then open them back in their own field?
Here's a screen shot of the before and after the program [URL]
I have a device with upon serial communication , it send the data as HEX values , (eg, C020042ABD0F91A103E400F929EBC) . I use the following code to get data from the serial port.
Dim fStream As New FileStream(sFileName, FileMode.CreateNew) ' creates new file Dim bw As New BinaryWriter(fStream) System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(1500) ComTd.Read(data, 1, bCount)
I'm looking to be able to save and load the content from multiple structured arrays and variables into/from an encrypted file, is there any reliable source of information or tutorial that I'd be able to use for this? I've never written a program in visual basic that writes to/reads from a file.
Okay this is the simple thing I'm trying to accomplish. I can get richtextbox1 to add to listbox 1. but i cant get both to add. the compare works fine. I'm stumped.
I'm totally new to the programming area. I'm using VB 2008 and I'm trying to save three textboxes in a text format. I have tried some code but my problem is that I don't want to save always at the same name (test.txt). How can I do it.
Here is the code that I'm using (and probably has lot of mistakes :'( ) Public Class Form1 Const mForm1Name As String = "c:est.txt" Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim Form1 As System.IO.StreamWriter [Code] .....
I understand that the problem is on the top where I've placed Const mForm1Name As String = "c:est.txt", but when I'm taking it out gives back a mistake. Also my form doesn't close when I save.
I've been looking into the SaveFileDialog and OpenFileDialog features, but have been failing to implement them. The actualy program that I would be implementing this in is much larger, so alternative methods are welcomed.
When I click on button1, employee_id and P values need to be transferred from button1_click to Cal_Category13() and go through all the calculation. After the calculation, udtnew.X and udtnew.MTD values need to be transferred back to button1_Click
I've no problem to return multiple values Cal_Category13().MTD and Cal_Category13().X from Cal_Category13() to button1_Click but i've no idea how to transfer employee_id and p values from button1_click to Cal_Category13().
Program Code Public Structure PCB Public Employee_ID As String Public MTD As Decimal
how to permanently save to text files then re-open all of the information again using SFD and OFD. Now my teacher has come back at me and said that i need to be able to save the information from multiple text boxes and have the text in certain labels to also be saved into the one text file (the labels need to be done because it is a database and these labels are like the fields and the right text box needs to match the right label)
I have two labels in my form with two integer values I need to save these labels in an array and when I load the form again I need the saved data appear in two textboxes.
I have simple columns and their respective sums. However, I exclude 1 particular value from each sum, like so [code]...
Now I need to exclude another value ("Awaiting Progression") from a second column called "PROGRESSION".
Since I already exclude value based on 1 column called CATEGORY, how do I change my =Sum(Code.ExcludeOthers(Fields!CATEGORY.Value,Fields!ACTION_PLAN_NEW.Value)) to exclude a value from the PROGRESSION column if it's = ("Awaiting Progression") ?
i.e. How do I exclude multiple values, depending on values in 2 columns in SSRS 2005?
Im just wondering if some one can take a look at my insert statement, as is not working,
Im trying to add values to SQL from 4 textboxes. Public Sub Insert(ByVal textbox3, ByVal textbox4, ByVal textbox5, ByVal textbox6)
Dim conn As New SqlConnection Dim comm As New SqlCommand conn = New SqlConnection("Server=Scott-VaioSQLSERVER;Database=Testing;Trusted_Connection=True;") conn.Open()
