XML 6.0 SP2 - Create A Small Backup Before Data Is Syncronized To A Data Store?
Feb 14, 2011I have an application that uses Dataset.WriteXML to create a small backup before data is syncronized to a data store (less than a meg).This application has worked well for 5 years now, and all of a sudden with the installation of XML 6.0 SP2 the XML document is not working correctly.I have multiple tables within a Dataset (Company, Contact, Notes, etc...)When WriteXML is called, the first table should be Company, however, the first table is being named Contact with the Company Data in it. The Notes table is being called Contact and so forth. In other words it's not giving the correct names to the tables in the XML File.This appears to be a bug, which is causing great distress on all the companies who have been using this program.

May 5, 2010For reasons that are beyond my control, I have three Projects. Projects A and B reference project C. Project A references project B so that it can open a large form in project B. I now need to open that large form from project C, but VB won't allow me to add a reference from C to B because that would create a circular dependency. I found a way around it, though. I created a Timer in A, and when I opened C from A, I passed in that timer. When the user performs a certain action, I enable the Timer from A, and this causes C to open B for me.

IDE :: Project Currently Has No Data Source Associated With It?
Feb 11, 2010I have purchased and installed the EBook "Visual Basic 2008 Step By Step". The package comes with a companion CD on which are practice projects that correspond to the book. I have installed Visual Basic Express 2008 and also installed the "Practice Files" exactly as required. When I enter the VB 2008 Express IDE and attempt to load the project or solution files, the program loads and I get no error. The problem is that I get no data when this happens. The "Data Source" box displays a message that reads, "Your project currently has no data sources associated with it. Add a new data source, then data-bind items by dragging from this window onto forms or existing controls." The files did load properly for me once, but have not ever since. Does anybody have any clue as to what needs to be done here?

I have my project set to "Copy if New"
I created a form with variuos fields from a table.
I hit F5 to run the application and enter in test data and save.
I exit the project and then go back in and the new data is there.
I exit the visual studio 2008 completely and then go back in and the new data is there.
I did the above last night several time and the new data was always there.
This morning all of the new data I entered is gone... I have NOT changed the data base schema at all.
