Binding Textblock So That One Change Of Variable On One Page Reflects In UI

I have a MainPage - mainpage.xaml Inside the MainPage I have a frame that hosts other pages. The first page that is auto loaded is the LogIn - LogIn.xaml
The user enters their email to login (no password required, just email to identify, its an internal app so passwords are not required or even wanted by users).
On MainPage.xaml the header should have a "Hello " TexBlock (name: ui_txbUserName). The LogIn page has a method which on submit gets the UserID (for other reasons and saves it) and the User Name.
I want to change the ui_txbUserName when the person logs in and update if he/she logs out of one account into another. I have looked at INotifyPropertyChanged and Dependency Properties and im just not sure how to go about doing this!

I have a rather large unilingual application that I have to make multilingual, meaning no resource file. I don't have the option of using the culture information but need to do it more on the fly at runtime so that the user can change languages either on startup or menu pick while in the application. I can handle that part ok.
i am new to this. i have 4 pages. login.aspx, account.aspx, settings.aspx and fliers.aspx. its all programmed in vb.net with sql server backend.on my firstr page, login.aspx i have this code in the .vb page -

Is there a way to animate a TextBlock's colour change?
At the moment I am basically using the enter/leave events to change the colour and I would like to a almost like a fade (but a fast fade, so .1/.2 secs) to give it a nicer visual appearance instead of being instantaneous.
ps. Due to constraints, the actual code is vb.net but I will accept c#.net answers as I can read both fine. Just learning WPF.
How to declare a variable that never change from pageload until i close the page. Simple Case :
* ShowInfo.PageLoad() begins to execute for UserA. * ShowInfo.Page_Load() begins to execute for UserB * UserA has variable Dummy = 100.

But the Result: Since UserB's was the last one assigned to (which remember... there is only one version of this in all of memory), the Dummy Variable is assigned for both users but different session. UserB sees Dummy = 20 but UserA sees Dummy = 20 too. I Want that the result is UserA Dummy = 100 & UserB Dummy = 20?
I have 2 web pages. In the first webpage I have a text box which takes an user input.The number of controls rendered in the second page is based on the user input in the first page.I am storing the user input from the first page as a session variable [code]Now, I wish to use this session variable in the next page for initializing a global variable and what I tried to do is Dim num_Invitees As Integer = CType (Session("NoOfControls ToGenerate"),Integer)But this gives me a NullReferenceException.Can someone please suggest me what exactly I should be doing in order to use the session variable to initialize a global variable and also why the session variable's value is null while using outside a function but works fine when used inside a function?
I want to access a page variable from a user control placed on that page. All the solutions work in C# via casting to the page class. The problem is that this doesn't work in VB. The page class is not selectable from the Intellisense dialog. Manual typing results in the error type not defined. It is strange that C# can do this without a problem. What is the proper solution for this in VB? I had other cases where I needed to access a control on the main page. C# again uses a cast to the page class to access the control. This doesn't work in VB again. So how can I access the page class from a user control in generell?
So, if someone enters:[URL]...Even though that page doesn't exist, the application pulls up default.aspx
Now, if this wasn't using a wildcard it would be easy to pull this value in on default.aspx like so:
Dim prospect as String = Page.RouteData.Values("value")
But this doesn't seem to work with wildcards, e.g.:Dim prospect as String = Page.RouteData.Values("*value")
How can I get the page to pick up these variable values? e.g. one time might be janedoe, another johndoe, another goose, another 12345, etc. Whatever it is, I want it to be returned into the string prospect.

I have a project in WPF 4 and VB.net 2010. I want to bind the volume property of a mediaelement to a variable in another module. Mind you, the variable is in the correct data type, so no conversion is necessary
OK So I know WHY I am having the error I am getting. I don't know HOW to fix it. Basically, if the user doesn't have a certain permission, I need to join another table. But .NET is so picky I can't just make two different queries in an IF statement and then use it outside of the if statement. I can think of some ugly work arounds for this, but I would rather not. I am fairly new to .NET I know just enough to be dangerous.

because of this: Dim l As IEnumerable(Of Company) its not just IEnumerable of a Company, its got the source in it. I have to explicitly select source to use it in my datagrid. Can I make Dim l something that will make it stop complaining?
I have combo box being filled with more than 50 thousand records. it is getting sometime to load and bind the data. I am using datatable to bind the data. I tried using data-reader as well but in vain.
I am binding a textbox's text value setting to my a variable in my configuration file. I only consider the input from this textbox to be valid if it's an integer number bigger than 1. Right now what I was doing is letting the user write whatever he wanted in the box, and I'd only let him save the settings after calling a validation function. The problem seems to be that my binding variable in the Settings class seems to be being updated as soon as the textbox is being edited, and that's a behaviour i'd like to skip. How can I do this?
I have a problem involving late binding, and I absolutely cannot for the life of me figure out how to fix it. I have spent hours researching the problem to no avail, so I am turning to stackoverflow as a last resort.The problem is pretty much this: I am creating a grocery list application. I have a class named Item which stores the name, price, quantity, and description of an item on the grocery list. I have a module named ListCollection which defines a Collection of Item objects. I have created an Edit form which will automatically display the currently selected ListCollection item properties, but whenever I attempt to fill the text boxes, it tells me that Option Strict disallows late binding. I COULD take the easy route and disable Option Strict, but I'd prefer to figure out what the problem is so I know for future reference.I shall paste pertinent code here. I have tried declaring a String variable and assigning the Item property to that, and I have also tried grabbing the value directly from the List item (not using the Get function), and neither of these made a difference.
I'm have a list box where I want my data bound to a data binding source. Easy enough, just set it in properties. But I want to be able to change the values to a different binding source when I click a radio button. In other words, for each radio button I want a different set of data in my list box.[code]
The code below works for the class that I hard coded "XCCustomers" in my RetrieveIDandName method where I use CType. However, I would like to be able to pass in various classes and property names to get the integer and string LIST returned. For example, in my code below, I would like to also pass in "XCEmployees" to my RetrieveIDandName method. I feel so close... I was hoping someone knew how to use CType where I can pass in the class name as a string variable.
Note, all the other examples I have seen and tried fail because we are using Option Strict On which disallows late binding. That is why I need to use CType.I also studied the "Activator.CreateInstance" code examples to try to get the class reference instance by string name but I was unable to get CType to work with that.When I use obj.GetType.Name or obj.GetType.FullName in place of the "XCCustomers" in CType(obj, XCCustomers)(i)I get the error "Type 'obj.GetType.Name' is not defined" or "Type 'obj.GetType.FullName' is not defined"
1. I can't find the file which reflects changes to user settings. This might be because I just can't find it (I can see a bunch of user.config files but they are all empty - weird!), or...
2. I'm not actually saving them when I think I am.
Regarding 2. - do I need to invoke
Is this all I need? And if so, why are my user.configs empty?
Background: Not a developer by trade. I did however, endeavor to learn VB a few years ago and I got reasonably far but without proper motivation for the time, things were difficult to take further. Fast forward half a dozen years and while working with the sales team in my company, I noticed that they were struggling with cataloguing and tracking their calls to clients. They were all trying to use one excel spreadsheet to tabulate all the clients details and calls. Of course, this was a mess. So the idea is to build them a very simple database app that will allow multiple users to add entries to a db and we could pull reports from the data in the end to check performance and such.
Application: The application so far is a very simple access db with windows forms front end. Two tables, one holding �Client� data and the other �call� data. Idea being that we can now track multiple calls per client as opposed to just the next call as was the norm. Client and CallID are the primary keys of the table, with a clientID foreign key in tbCalls . There is one query which I tried to use to do this, which joins calls and clients so that I had everything in one table. Cool. There are four forms, basically frmCaptureClientInfo, frmSearchClients, frmScheduleCalls and frmMakeCalls. Most of these forms are working fine by just dragging the dataset fields onto the form and allowing the IDE to do the coding and then a little more code to validate that the inputs are correctothing fancy just add, delete, update is all this app does.
Issue: The last form is the killer form. Killer form, because it�s caused a huge rise in blood pressure. Anyway it sounds so simple. On the form is a datagrid that is populated with contents of above query (all client and call details), filtered by the parameter that checks if the call is complete or not. Sweet. Below I have dragged in fields from tblCalls. The �callers� need to edit three fields TimeCompleted, CallNotes and a call completed checkbox. What I need is the tblCallBindingNavigator to jump to the record that I have selected in the Datagrid view. Right now they are independent and I can�t join them. If this is at all possible?I have tried using just the query, which has the right behavior except the update command is not generated automatically. Spent Many hours researching updating queries but either was too complex for me to know it was the solution, or was for different products. If there is a way to do this then that would be awesome.I have also tried editing the CallBindingNavigator databindings settings but I am not sure what is going on there, it seems to block out the navigator controls. Is it possible to add a tab character into a textblock? It's a textblock in Xaml, but i'm adding the text in code, so it has to be done there. Is there any action like "Environment.NewLine", but for the "Tab" character?
I have three radiobuttons in a groupbox. When they are not bound to application settings, they behave normally.After binding each of their checked properties to application settings, the following happens: I have to click an uncheckedradiobutton two times to have it checked. After the first click, all three are unchecked.
I am using ASP.NET. It is possible to create a session variable on page load just for a particular page/url? The problem that I have is: The user comes to page 1 and the session variable becomes A, then he opens page 2 in a new tab and the session variable because B on both page 1 and page 2. So when the user needs the session variable on page 1 it does not work because the variable have changed!
Why can i set zero value to TextBox.Width in xaml and not in code behind ? By using a converter, when returing 0, the TextBlock.Width is not set to 0 but to "auto", i can read the text

when the form loads, there is a table and i use code to set the row count to a variable from a previous page. this works fine. the problem i am having is that i cant get the row height sizes to be evenly spaced, there is 1 huge row then heaps of tiny ones.
