Jun 17, 2011I am new to vb.net and I am using visual studio 2010. I have two comboboxes on a form, each combobox is set to DropDownList so that a list of items can show in the combobox, but no text is allowed to be entered.
For combobox A, if user chooses item 1, the list of combobox B should be updated accordingly. I think this is quite common on a lot of applications. But I do not know to implement it. I even do not know the keyword to search for the relevant property or event handler.

Apr 23, 2010been trying the code since 3 hours, but without sucess.I have a Table called Clients related with Table called Nationality.I use the code above to enter the SelectedValue into Database and it works fine.

Cascading Combobox - When Change Cb1 - Change Cb2 And Click Save Button - Cb2 Seems To Be 'lost
Feb 15, 2012I have two combobox in a form: Cb1 and Cb2
When I load the form, Cb1 and Cb2 are connected to a bindingsource.
When I change Cb1, the code (below) changes Cb2 to show only the items according to Cb1
This is working fine.
The problem is when I change Cb1 , change Cb2 and click the save button..... Cb2 seems to be 'lost'...
I'm using VS2008.

Combobox/ Trying To Populate Current Year Plus The Next 10 Years?
Nov 6, 2009I'm trying to use a combobox to pull the current year and then populate the next ten years. I don't want to manually put in the years in the 'item collections'. I would rather it update automatically based on the system year. How should I go about doing this?
My first instinct is to set the combobox item to the current year based on the system date, then create a loop that increments based on on counter up to current year + 10. I'm assuming this would be done on the 'form_load' event handler???

Dec 11, 2009I have 2 linked DB tables, Artists and Albums using ArtistID as the primary/foreign key.When I want to add a new Album, I have a new form open and I can fill a combobox with the list of Artists to choose from and edit all the details then save to the database.
However, when I want to edit the Album info, I can't seem to get the Artist associated with the Album, as well as all the rest of the Artists from that table, (in case I need to change the Artist associated with the Album).The information required comes from 2 linked tables, so that's where I'm getting lost.An example of this is when a person edits their profile on a webpage, for instance, a list of countries is usually listed in a combobox and the one selected is the country they selected when filling out the form previously, however, they still have the option to change it.

Mar 14, 2012I'm trying to make the combobox get suggested values from a website using the current keyword they have in the box already. For example if I have O, it will show up values that the website has returned with O. The problem is how can I make it work where whatever I type into the combobox, it will get the values, set the datasource and make it show up. So far I have this:The problem is whenever I type something, I cannot get it to set it to the new datasource without the comboxbox becoming the first value in the data source.

Nov 12, 2010I have an editable datagridview that's been databound with dataadapter and datatable, and a normal button on a form. When i edit the dgv's cells and click the save button it fires the datagridview_cellvalidating event and if the cell validation is correct it updates and saves the current record to the datasource. Also, before save it commits change in any cell under editing. But when I use a toolstripbutton to do the same work, though it saves the dgv records but doesn't update the current change i.e. it saves the old records that are being fetched when the dgv was populated first during form load. Also, clicking the toolstripbutton doesn't fire datagridview_cellvalidating, datagridview_rowvalidating etc events. What it seems to be is it's not committing the change in any cell under editing. Why isn't it happening and how can I make it work? how can I fire datagridview_ cellvalidating, datagridview_rowvalidating and other events; and commit cell value change by clicking toolstripbutton.

So if today is the 12/3/12 my buttons will be in THIS order MAR12,FEB12,JAN12,DEC11,NOV11 ETC UP TO BUTTON 12. I have already written code for it and it works but it is long winded.

May 5, 2011Ok so on regular dropdownlists and comboboxes i am able to adjust the height through the properties
However, how do you set the dropdownheight of a combobox in a datagridview??? i need it to be around 150 cuz or else it will be too long and probably wont fit on most PCs... does anyone know how i can do that???
theres no option on the GUI but i was thinking maybe through code?

The problem i am encountering is that after filling allowableHeightsCombobox once, it will not update or change the values in it. this is the only place where i change the AllowableHeightscombox's datasource.

1. It replaces the form name and display the date and time but i want to keep both date and time and forms caption separated by some space.
