I have a form with a number of controls based on those controls and a database i filter what data i want to be in AllowableHeightsCombobox. I am using an Arraylist to hold the data. The problem i am encountering is that after filling allowableHeightsCombobox once, it will not update or change the values in it. this is the only place where i change the AllowableHeightscombox's datasource.

I am new to vb.net and I am using visual studio 2010. I have two comboboxes on a form, each combobox is set to DropDownList so that a list of items can show in the combobox, but no text is allowed to be entered.
For combobox A, if user chooses item 1, the list of combobox B should be updated accordingly. I think this is quite common on a lot of applications. But I do not know to implement it. I even do not know the keyword to search for the relevant property or event handler.
When I update but do not really made any changes to the value and press the update button, the data becomes null. And it will seem that I deleted the value.I've taught of a solution, that is to add both combobox1.selectedtext and combobox1.selecteditem to the function. But it doesn't work.
combobox1.selecteditem is working when you try to alter the values when you update. But will save a null value when you don't alter the values using the combobox combobox1.selectedtext will save the data into the database even without altering.But will not save the data if you try to alter it.-And I incorporated both of them, but still only one is performing, and I think it is the one that I added first:

I have two combobox in a form: Cb1 and Cb2
When I load the form, Cb1 and Cb2 are connected to a bindingsource.
When I change Cb1, the code (below) changes Cb2 to show only the items according to Cb1
This is working fine.
The problem is when I change Cb1 , change Cb2 and click the save button..... Cb2 seems to be 'lost'...
I'm using VS2008.

My.Settings.Current_DB is bound to 'cbdatabase' which is a combobox which is filled by this method:

So that throughout the program and when the program starts up it knows what the current database is.
The databases and the folders have the same name, in order to keep track of. My problem is when the combobox is filled when the program starts, it is overwriting the current info with the first item of the info loaded into the combo box.

Instead of maintaining the Current_DB as "Default", it updates it with the first item into the Combobox and that is "Alabama". How do I fix this so that it maintains the correct Current_DB and not update when the Combobox is filled.
I have a bound datagridview when a editing a datagridviewtextboxcolumn and the end edit is called I use the tableadaptermanger.updateall(dataset) to update the db. All well and dandy but having a problem with a comboboxcolumn. The db is only updated after I have selected a new value from the comboboxcolumn and click on another cell in the grid. on a windows form i have a combobox called currency, it is populated by a table-adapter called exchan-gerate which is turn populated by a dataset called mydataset. on form load, i issue update commands to the back-end database that holds the table which populates the dataset - they work. if i look at the update to the combobox, they are not reflected until i exit and restart the app - then they're fine. further down the form load i've tried:

am i missing something silly to have the values in the combobox change and refresh at the time of the update to the database? as i said, an exit and restart of the app displays the accurate data.
I'm using ASP.NET 2.0 and VB.NET. I have a login page. If I am an existing user, when I log in, my user details are popped in the respective textBoxes. Now I wish to change one of these fields. I edited one and then clicked on the Edit button to update the record. It's not updated but instead it brings the existing value from the text box.

I am using a number of tables on my application and two of which have a foreign key constraint I have set between them. When I change the account number on the main table via a combo box all of the relevant information for that table on the form is updated accordingly. However, the child table which has a foreign key reference to the Account Number of the main table is not updated when the acocunt number is changed. I have set the update to cascade in the references but still am having issues.

I have two comboboxes. The data sorce of combobox1 is a list of string that is fixed.Combobox2's data sorce will be a list of string that depends on the selection of combobox1. This is very similar to a common case as follows: first enter your contry, then depending on your enter, the second combobox will show you the list of universities in the country.

However, how do you set the dropdownheight of a combobox in a datagridview??? i need it to be around 150 cuz or else it will be too long and probably wont fit on most PCs... does anyone know how i can do that???

The form has 2 ComboBox and 1 NumericUpDown controls. I would like to change value of NumericUpDown based on selection in ComboBox. For example:
ComboBox1 has three value. for instance, AAA, BBB, CCC
ComboBox2 has three value. for instance, DDD, EEE, FFF
The NumericUpDown should has range 0-6 sum of both ComboBox. For instance, if user select from ComboBox1 AAA and from ComboBox2 EEE the NumericUpDown should display value 5.

I have a combobox on a form with the dropdownstyle set to drop down. Users can either salect a value from the list, or type in any value they wish. This all works fine. However, when one particular item in the list is selected I wish to set a different value. I have a combo boxthat holds a list of values that are a custom object and when a value is selected a few text boxes are loaded with data. I use the SelectedIndexChanged Event. Works wonderfully.I noticed that this even is also called when a user clicks the 'x' to close the form. I just wanted to understand the logic behind that. I get that the technically index is changing since the cbobox value is being set to nothing, but to me that just seems a little inefficient.
