Broadcasting An Image Over Internet ?
Apr 19, 2010
I am working on a personal project, and I've been looking at a way to make an application where you can enter in the other user's IP address, load a picture into a picturebox and have it appear in the other user's picturebox, on a separate computer. I am not looking for code, but examples are welcome. I would just like a nudge in the right direction.I've already looked at P2P and winsock, but I cannot figure it out...

I need some information on broadcasting front. I have a program which gives data every few minutes to my friends. The logic is data is prepared on a local computer, the file is then uploaded to my webserver and then the programs at friend's end download the file and process it.
Though the above logic works, but its plagued by time delays, uploading & downloading basically. Is there an alternate whereby the program on local computer which prepares & uploads file is able to broadcast data and client apps can read that data and work on it. For e.g. if you see apps that show live stock market data, the data is refreshed for so many stocks every sec. They use some other system similar to broadcasting I guess. In-order to transmit data fast how can I go about it?

I have two programs running, a client and a server. They are connected through a socket, and a TCPListener. The server is pure VB.NET, but the server needs to take pictures of the desktop, which works, but then needs to send it to the client application.

Basically I want to have a picturebox which shows an embedded resource if not connected to the internet, and an online image if connected to the internet.I assume this can be done on the form load event, I just don't know the code for it. Basically this is the logic though:
-If 'http:/[url].... is available (therefore connected to internet)
-Picturebox1.Image = http:[url].....
-Else[code].....
How can I code that properly? Would putting it in the form load event work?

I've been looking for a way to do this for like two days now, and no luck.
What I want to do is get into the temporary internet files, find a certain file....
(^^^ I can do that just fine (using specialfolders, etc) ^^^)
and get the internet address associated with it.
See the attachment if you don't get my meaning.

we have our system running but our system needs to be modified because we did something wrong...we are doing an "Internet monitoring System" in our school library where the user can only access the internet 1hr a day, and he/she cannot use the internet within that day if he couldn't buy a time on a serve...every students should only have 20hrs time usage per semester...our problem is every day their 20hrs is being reduced in 1hr.. the rule is the time per semester which is 20hrs that is given to the students was reduced 1hr only if he uses the internet..but our system is reducing their 1hr every day.

I created a new cursor (it works properly, I tried it in windows 7) but is not working for me in the program.I took the Windows cursor (aero_helpsel_xl, from C:WindowsCursors) and it appears to me the same error.i use with this code:
Me.Cursor = New Cursor("Patch..")
The problem say:: "{"Image format is not valid. Image file may be corrupted.
Parameter name: stream "}"
edit: I realized what the problem ... It can read only cur files with 24-bit color and lower - but it shows only two colors: black and white.

I've been searching for hours tonight searching existing posts, other websites and all i can find are examples of how to capture a image from a webcam.Does anyone have any code that simple talks to the camera device via WIA, and then saves every image found on the device to a hard drive?I found this code below. Credit i cant tell you as i have a bunch of different flavors of code, but this only saves the file as a tmp file, and not the actual image file i expected after selecting?
Imports System.Drawing
Imports System.Runtime.InteropServices
Imports WIALib

In VB6 you could BITBLT things around before refreshing the screen. In .NET, I'm aware of DrawImage, but that can only be done on a paint event rather than before anything gets painted. The issue I have is, I need to open several files with image data in them and then build a bigger image with those smaller images. Before I could open them, BITBLT them to a Buffer. As far as I can tell .NET offers no way to do this as the only function I've been able to find (DrawImage) only works within the paint event. Is there still a way to do this in VS08 or no?

I am "weeks new" to visual basic 2008 but I was hoping that someone might tell me how I can open an image in whatever type of "visible" graphics window (always positioned at: x=0 y=0); move to some "definable position" of interest x=(n) y=(n); change the brightness of that "individual pixel" by some "definable means of measure" from its original state; and save the new image as a separate image file?

I have a Picturebox and a two Buttons on my Form. On click of one of the buttons I want to change the image in the picture box at runtime.
This works fine when I give the location of the image (the full path ) on my computer - but then of course it will not work if I use the solution on a different computer .
So I have made a folder named "Pics" inside my application and added two images into it.
How do I get to this local folder in the following code?
Picturebox1.image = system.drawing.image.fromfile (??? )
instead of the usual,
Picturebox1.image = system.drawing.image.fromfile ("C:UsersMyName My PicturesMyPicture.jpg" )

I can't remember exactly if this is possible or not but what I am attempting I would think should theoretically be possible. I know it is possible in WPF but the company I am working for doesn't want to make the transition just yet. Basically what I want is to use a background image on a form for the background and I have a docked control on the right and left. I have set the background on both of these docked controls to transparent however it is showing the back color rather than the background image. I tried, rather than setting the background image property, to override the onpaintbackground and onpaint events and use e.graphics.draw(picture, me.clientrectangle) but it still seems to just pick up the backcolor as the true transparent background so I'm wondering if it's possible to get it to show the background image through the control rather than the backcolor of the form?

I hoping to find a current and simple way to do this. I'm using VWD Express 2008 and SQL Express 2008.I'm able to get the client's path to the image file using an asp:FileUpload control on the web form.
How do I upload the client's image file and display it in the web form's image control?How do I save it to the sqlserver? The image table is already set up with a "Image" data type column. Can the image be saved to the database as simply as other data types?

I've got an app where the user uploads an image and the app resizes the image three different ways based on different variables. They all use the same image. I can't check to see if it's done using the image so I wondered if there was a way to check to see if the file is writable. A small loop that exits once it becomes writable (or "deleteable"). Working out of VB.NET.
