I am trying to work on a service where I need to export a report into a folder under the service project and email it to the user. The delete the report when complete. The issue I am having is I need to know how to access a folder under the project. I know you can use System.AppDomain.CurrentDomain.BaseDirectory to get into the bin where the excuting file is but I want to get to a folder is this possible? If not is there a way of creating the folder under the bin directory and accessing it. I can manually create a folder under the bin but didnt really want to do that.
Ok I know this question has been asked to death but I still have not seen a good answer. I have created an application in VS2010 using VB.NET. In my application I have an error log that is an XML file located in the Public gstLocalErrorLogLocation As String = Application.StartupPath & "ErrorLog"that gets written to in the event of an error so I can trouble shoot application easier. My application also downloads files from our FTP site and puts the files in Public gstLocalDownloadLocation As String = Application.StartupPath & "download"So I have files that get read and written to as well and created and deleted all in the Application.StartupPath which is either "c:Program Files(Application Directory)(Some Directory)(Some File)" or "c:Program Files (x86)(Application Directory)(Some Directory)(Some File)" depending on 32bit or 64bit Windows 7.
After creating the setup I install it on my test machine that have both Windows 7 32bit and 64bit.Everything in the application works great till I have to write to, delete or creat a file in those directories above. I know it is an access issue and the UAC. This will get installed on numerous systems so the options I have seen to change file or folder permission on the computers manually is not an option. What has to happen is after I install the application it just works like when you install it on XP. Some post have suggested that you us a user with administrator privilages or group which is all fine and dandy but the user I have used to test the application has all of that.
So what I am asking is how do you create an application with VS2010 in VB.NET that after creating a setup package and installing on Windows 7 will just work with out "Access to the path c:Program Files(Application Directory)(Some Directory)(Some File) is denied." If I have to install this on 100 Windows 7 computers it has to be a concreate no manually doing anything just install and work like when we installed on XP.
I am using Visual Studio 2008 Setup project. I need to copy one folder and the sub folders into the program files but when I tried to copy or add the folder to "Application Folder" in File System editor, I am able to add only files and not folders.
What I'm trying to achieve is for a file to be copied from a templates folder to a project folder. The project folder path is constructed using the selected item in a combo box and a list box. [Code]
If I have a .dll, isn't it I can place it in a folder providing that the folder is included in the project? since I really do have a problem during publishing.
I have copied a folder with a project renaming the folder. I have then browsed and opened the project in the VB.Net 2005 IDE. I have then renamed the Assembly, root namespace, solution and project, searched and replaced all instances of original name, cleaned, rebuilt, tried deleting the bin and obj folders and rebuilt. But every time I run the newly named exe, when I try and start the original exe along side it nothing happens. it still thinks that the old exe is the same process? Both solutions are single instance applications. Why does it still think they are the same. I want the renamed copy to have slightly different functionality to cater for a different type of user but can't get both exe's to run at the same time which some users need. I can't see anywhere I have not changed the name for the new version.
After I run the setup to install the program, I will use the program to capture image and answer a survey.Having said that, I have a folder contains image of image capture and database using Ms Access 2007 in my program . I have a VB.NET project in Visual Studio 2010 for an Excel Add-In.I use the "My" namespace, and in general it seems that the "My Project" folder contains configuration information about the project. My problem is that I need to change the name of this folder, because my version manager system won't accept spaces in file or folder names.Edit: There is a hacky way to do it, by renaming the folder and changing all references in the .vbproj file. However, the may work for a command line generation, but it won't work the next time the project will be opened in Visual Studio. The IDE will create a new "My Project" folder, and complain that it can't find the settings in it.
I have a multi-project .NET 3.5 solution. It's ASP.NET based with c# code-behind in all projects except one.I'm attempting to access members from a C# project called "Core" from a VB.NET project. I set a dependency to the Core solution in my solution properties. However, Core. brings up nothing. Furthermore, my other C# projects that have Core-Project as a dependency (in the solution settings), are able to declare Core objects. Example: Private Core.ObjectName InstanceName; Also, Intellisense brings up plenty of info in the C# projects.how I can hook into these members from my VB project?
I have access to a database table that has been added as a datasource in project (A). Is there any way to refer to this database table from project (B) WITHOUT adding it to project (B)'s datasource?
I'm using VS 2010, and I did a project using VB and a database in Access. The problem is that when I try to put that "application" on other computers, sometimes, is not working. I thought it can be because on these computers they don't have access, but on one computer, is running another app which is using Access and there is no Access installed. How can I check if my application requires Access to be installed or not?
Here is a example of how I did the connection:
Public AccessOLEDBConnString= "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source=" & myfullpath & ";Jet OLEDB:Database Password=password"
Function getConnection() As OleDb.OleDbConnection
[CODE]...
And when I want to have access at the data I'm doing like this:
I upgraded a Visual Studio 2003 VB.NET project to Visual Studio 2005, and a "My Project" folder was automatically created and added to my project. What is the purpose of the auto generated folder "My Project"? This folder is empty, and I would love to get rid of this folder if it's not needed.
I made one project in Vb Express 2008 on one computer in my office.I copied the Folder of the same Project on another computer at home. There I also has Vb Express 2008. The problem is that the code of project is opening like Form1.vb but the actual Form in Form1.Designer.vb is not opening in that computer. Please advise how i can open the Designer form of my project on a computer where the copy of Project folder is used.
I have two projects: SQLtesting and Controls. Their physical locations are:
C:My DocumentsVisual Studio 2010ProjectsSQLtestingSQLtesting [forms reside here] C:My DocumentsVisual Studio 2010ProjectsControlsControls [forms reside here]
The code shown below works fine. I run it from the project SQLtesting. It loads a listbox and a checkedlistbox with the controls found on a form. I can change the value of the FormName field to any form within the SQLtesting project and get the form's controls. The forms are not actually opened/shown.I would like to be able to access forms in other projects i.e.
C:My DocumentsVisual Studio 2010ProjectsControlsControls
while running the code from the SQLtesting project.
Private Sub Button7_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button7.Click Dim <strong>FormName </strong>As String = "Form1" Dim FullTypeName As String
