I am having a strange issue with vb.net 2008. I have two forms that I designed, but I cannot bring them up to edit them. I can only view them when I run the program. I have attached a screen shot of my form showing while my program runs.

View 1 RepliesI'm in the process of adding EMR (Electronic Medical records) to my app. We have many PDF files that where created in Adobe LiveCycle and Acrobat Pro. Not sure if this is possible, but what I'd like to do is open a PDF file within my app and display it for the user to fillin the PDF form. Once PDF is filled in, I'd like to be notified (user clicks submit) when user is done, then get data out of PDF and save it to database. Or be able to fill in a PDF automatically and then display it to the user for editing. I know there are many tools out there to create/edit pdf files. The Acrobat SDK also includes a PDF viewer control, but the problem with this control is there is no way (I've found) to also edit the file through my program because the control don't expose the AcroForm class through the control. BTW, it this can be done PLEASE let me know how. Also note that most of these are dynamic PDF files (created in LiveCycle) and some of the third party tools don't provide support for these files.
I don't care if Acrobat reader is required to be installed on the user computer, I just need to be able to get some type of notification that the user is done filling in the forms. It might have been easier to just create a winform and with all required fields, but a lot of our users are not computer savy, and have been using the paper version of the PDF files for a while. I need to make it as easy as possible for them to jump in and start using the program, hince embedding the PDF into my app.
Wondering what is the best method of viewing a pdf, and adding text to the pdf, then printing it out? Currently, I opened the pdf in Photoshop, saved it as a bitmap, made it the background image on a form, overlayed it with labels, and am using the form.print method. This isnt exactly the best way to do this. Does anyone else have any good suggestions (without spending more than say $40)?
Project Background:
I work for an aircraft manufacturer/maintainer, and every time we have a broken/removed part, I have to log into our part logistics website, then hand write a form with all the installed and broken parts info (a full page). My program parses all the necessary info from the website, then loads it into textboxes (to be modified if needed) which are then copied into the labels overlaying the image of the form I have to fill out.
I want to build a form with fields bound to a datasoruce that the user can scroll through (using the up and down arrows).This would be a detail screen, but I don't really want a visible data gird or list on the screen with it, but as I'm still designing this may be something I would want to try also. The screen would be read-only data with a search textbox that would be used to query the list of data. The user will enter a search term and then browse through the detail screen to locate the exact record they want. I'm somewhat restricted on design because I'm trying to replicate a legacy program and don't want to deviate too far from the original design.For my datasource I've got a List (of MyClass), I just need to figure out the binding and navigation.

Now my problem is that when I run my application on XP then the view of monthcalendar control changes. View 3 RepliesI have developed a win form application using vb.net 2.0, mistakenly my vbproj file deleted. Now the issue is that when i open the solution in the design view all my forms ( 170 + ) shown blank. but when i run the application all the controls are properly displayed and application is running fine. Issue is why all forms are shown BLANK in design view , as i cant make any changes to the design now.

It helps the user organize and plan activities with a client.I have created the ui and have added a BindingNavigator and it happily pulls in the records from my Access database which I can cycle through.What I would like it to be able to do is, allow the user to see all the current records (maybe in a flexgrid), select which record he/she would like to view, then the entire record is populated into the ui.I would have no problem in vb6 of course...but I could do with a little help in vb.net (2008).My main problem is I think is, once the flexgrid is populated, how to create the event that allows the user to view and update that record once in the ui.

I have a project which still runs fine without issue however i dont seem to be able to access the design view of Form1. The icon in soultions explorer has also changed from a form to a sinple vb reference. Im unable to right click in solutions explorer and view designer as there is no option there.

In the form designer, I am setting the anchor properties of the various controls that I have on the form so that they are located where I want them to be located when the Form loads.
I was wondering, if there was a way such that the form in my designer would be of the same size as the Maximized form? As of now I am dragging and resizing the edges of the Form in the Designer view to make it bigger..

My question is, which code do I need to bind these functions. I think the pictures are describing this good enough. (The "save screenshot"-button is ToolStripButton1, the button for making screenshot is ToolStripButton10).

View 19 RepliesI was wondering if there is any advantage to do everything programmatically instead of using design view to create forms, controls etc. Would there be any difference in size and/or performance after you compile it? So far I've been doing pretty much everything programmatically, specifying all the properties that aren't default for my forms controls but I am starting to wonder is there are any advantages to this, apart from making it easier (sometime) to manage and change the behavior of my controls.

I need to drag and drop to textbox from tree view. Here while drag and drop to text box i need to add the dragged text to anywhere in the text box which we have already dragged some nodes here.
For example.in treeview i have "node1" and "node2"now i am going to add "node2" to textbox and in front of "node2" i need to add "node1" and then at the end of "node2" again i need to drop "node1" like that.
I have been working on an app that was basically a vb6 app but had to be changed and I did it all using VB 2008. works well, great. One of the problems that I had was to work on different groupboxes or frames. Since they are layered on top of each other, working on one frame would mess up the others. Eventually it all went okay. but now if i want to add another item in the menu and hence add another groupbox (or frame) in the same app - it would definitely be a nightmare.

View 3 Repliesi have a problem with trying to get 2 forms to close at different times using a timer on each of the 2 forms.

Frm1 and Frm2 are identical to each other. FrmMain has 2 buttons on it. One button to call Frm1 and the other to call Frm2.Frm1 and Frm2 each has a timer. It counts down to 0 and then does a .close(). However, if i pause between clicking the second button they both seem to always disappears at the same time.I would do something like this...
Click on the first button (showing the Frm1 form)
wait about 10 secs...Click on the second button (showing the Frm2 form)they both are shown on screen...hen they both disappear at the same time.... which shouldn't happen since i clicked the Frm2 box 10 seconds AFTER Frm1... So Frm1 should hide before Frm2 does...but it does not.

i have datagridview populated with stock code, name and description.And i have docked my datagridview to the bottom. so whenever the form is resized, the bottom section will be occupied completely with the datagridview.But i want to display one extra empty column and multiple empty rows to completely fill in the datagridview.The extra empty column width will be adjusted to the right end side of datagridview.And the no of empty rows will be generated based on how many is required to fill up to the bottomSo that i can create datagridview with full column and row even though some columns or rows are empty.
