I want to build a form with fields bound to a datasoruce that the user can scroll through (using the up and down arrows).This would be a detail screen, but I don't really want a visible data gird or list on the screen with it, but as I'm still designing this may be something I would want to try also. The screen would be read-only data with a search textbox that would be used to query the list of data. The user will enter a search term and then browse through the detail screen to locate the exact record they want. I'm somewhat restricted on design because I'm trying to replicate a legacy program and don't want to deviate too far from the original design.For my datasource I've got a List (of MyClass), I just need to figure out the binding and navigation.
I have two forms and I am running a sql query to provide a set of variables in my first form that I need to pass to my second form. Here is the code that I have:[code]to form 2 which then shows the data retrieved from a sql query in the load event to a datagrid view.

i have datagridview populated with stock code, name and description.And i have docked my datagridview to the bottom. so whenever the form is resized, the bottom section will be occupied completely with the datagridview.But i want to display one extra empty column and multiple empty rows to completely fill in the datagridview.The extra empty column width will be adjusted to the right end side of datagridview.And the no of empty rows will be generated based on how many is required to fill up to the bottomSo that i can create datagridview with full column and row even though some columns or rows are empty.

If you look you'll see the background color of number 1 and 2 are diffrent but both belongs to the same control. How is this possible? In right bottom corner, there is something by which a user can resize the form.

how to implement a classic layout design in vb.net (2.0).The application design is the classical toolbar panel at the top and different panels stacked at the bottom. Depending on the button pressed at the top in the toolbar panel a different panel at the bottom will be available.This is thought to have different part of the software available on different panel but with the toolbar panel always available at the top.To implement this I thought:
1) one tablelayout with 2 rows. First row contain a panel with the button (toolbar panel) and adding/removing hte correct panel requested on the bottom row.
I am currently working on a project for school in which I am trying to implement a multi user login on one of my forms. I have an internal database connected in which one of my tables contains the user-names and passwords. I have a For/each loop to search the table for a matching username/password before allowing access to next form. The problem is even if the username/password is correct, my message box still appears to notify of invalid credentials, but still allows access to other form. The problem only occurs when I implement two For/each loops. With one, code works fine. Can any one see what might be wrong?
I'm trying to implement cut, copy and paste functionality in my application. My menu is on the main form of my MDI application and I would like to cut copy or paste from any textbox from any mdichild.

As a declariton at the beggining of a form? or as as VB resource?and then how those it bind a to a dataGridView? How can I loop through each rows once is bind to use the contents of the column/row?I can perform the above function easly inside of MS Access using VBA. In my app I have a main form listing basic customer info in a datagridview. When the user single-clicks a customer, I want all the customers info to appear on the right side of the main form for viewing/editing/deleting, etc. Also, if the user double-clicks a customer I want a new form to appear (not an MDI child, but an external form) to appear with the same info for viewing/editing/deleting, etc. (Kind of like MS Outlook where you can open an item in the main Outlook window or externally).Since the external form and the right side of the main form need to show the same info and have the same functionality, I created a User Control to house all the customers detail controls and the ability to edit or delete.
Questions: Is using a User Control the best way to go?
The customer data on the main form is brought in via dataset, tableadapter and bindingsource. When a user single or double clicks a customer, that customers ID needs to get to the details User Control, regardless of whether it's in the main form or external form. What's the best way to get that customer ID to the User Control? Or should the main form "pass" the data binding source to the User Control?Once the customer ID has been received in the User Control, what's the best way to show that customer's details and prepare it for editing?
All my data objects implement an interface IFillable

Now here is the tricky bit. Given that all my property names WILL ALWAYS match my database column names what I want to do is using reflection generate the fill method at compile time and infer the types and column names for the datareader.I am assuming I will need to structure this functionality as some sort of a tool/vs plugin? What I am looking for is guidance on the best way to go about this.
PS: BTW: Obviously I could easily do this using reflection at runtime but I dont want to take the performance hit for it (Although theoretically if I could cache the values somehow (static class?) it might not be too bad).

I am having a strange issue with vb.net 2008. I have two forms that I designed, but I cannot bring them up to edit them. I can only view them when I run the program. I have attached a screen shot of my form showing while my program runs.
I'm in the process of adding EMR (Electronic Medical records) to my app. We have many PDF files that where created in Adobe LiveCycle and Acrobat Pro. Not sure if this is possible, but what I'd like to do is open a PDF file within my app and display it for the user to fillin the PDF form. Once PDF is filled in, I'd like to be notified (user clicks submit) when user is done, then get data out of PDF and save it to database. Or be able to fill in a PDF automatically and then display it to the user for editing. I know there are many tools out there to create/edit pdf files. The Acrobat SDK also includes a PDF viewer control, but the problem with this control is there is no way (I've found) to also edit the file through my program because the control don't expose the AcroForm class through the control. BTW, it this can be done PLEASE let me know how. Also note that most of these are dynamic PDF files (created in LiveCycle) and some of the third party tools don't provide support for these files.
I don't care if Acrobat reader is required to be installed on the user computer, I just need to be able to get some type of notification that the user is done filling in the forms. It might have been easier to just create a winform and with all required fields, but a lot of our users are not computer savy, and have been using the paper version of the PDF files for a while. I need to make it as easy as possible for them to jump in and start using the program, hince embedding the PDF into my app.
Quite a few threads on passing data from one form to another, but I'm struggling to work out how to share data between the two - back and forth.
For example:
Class1 is a class with 10 string properties
Form1 has 10 labels ("Label1", "Label2" etc) and a [Configure] button. Form2 has 10 textboxes and a [Apply] button.
I want to load with Form1, and create an instance of Class1. Click the Configure button and load Form2, passing Class1. On Form2 I want to manually fill in the 10 textboxes and hit Apply. The Apply should update the Class1 instance and close the form.
Form1's Label controls should then be updated with the data from the Class1 instance.
I'm fine creating the forms and classes, as well as passing the class into Form2 with a custom Sub New(EmptyClass as Class1) constructor. This gets the empty class into Form2, but how can I get the populated class back to Form1?
As Form1 already exists I don't want to create a new instance with another custom Sub New(PopulatedClass as Class1)
It's also key to be able to use the Form2 multiple times, basically ending up with a Data class being displayed as part of Form1 but updated using Form2? (For example if the Class has already been created and populated with data when it's passed back to Form2 for the second time I would pre-load the Textboxes with the values already in the class).
I typically dont create interfaces unless i have to, however in my current application i have to create interfaces in the Data access layer. I just want to display data in a DataGridView (from SQL - already made the connection) based on what is selected in a ComboBox (data that is also coming from SQL). The 2 are separete on the form. I am using VB 2010.

Wondering what is the best method of viewing a pdf, and adding text to the pdf, then printing it out? Currently, I opened the pdf in Photoshop, saved it as a bitmap, made it the background image on a form, overlayed it with labels, and am using the form.print method. This isnt exactly the best way to do this. Does anyone else have any good suggestions (without spending more than say $40)?
Project Background:
I work for an aircraft manufacturer/maintainer, and every time we have a broken/removed part, I have to log into our part logistics website, then hand write a form with all the installed and broken parts info (a full page). My program parses all the necessary info from the website, then loads it into textboxes (to be modified if needed) which are then copied into the labels overlaying the image of the form I have to fill out.
I'm building one application with vb.net, but for my interface i need a static and dynamic view. Can someone explain me how can i do this or with what can be done?
