I have a an inherited form that has a panel control on it. I want to paste other controls onto this panel but the paste option is grayed out and won't let me do it. I made sure that the template form did not lock the panel. I'm stymied from making progress until I can get this resolved.
I have a base form and I inherit other forms from it. However, if i go back and change say the size of the base form, I don't see those changes take effect in my inherited forms. Does anyone know why that is? Is there a solution to this issue? So as far as design is goes, what exactly gets inherited by other forms?
I am having a problem with closing a form which I have inherited I have a form called frmAddForm_Simple, which contains 4 main controls (A Data Grid, A Save Button, A Close Button and a Text Box). The idea around the form is to create a form which could be used for inputting of many different types of data which are all entered in the same way (i.e. to add a new row to a database for [Status] table or [Location] table, all of which contain 2 columns in the database (an [Id] and a [value]). On the form I have a property called _FormChanged, which when the textbox text changes, sets the property to True. I then have the following code on the Close Button:-
Public Sub btnClose_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnClose.Click If _FormChanged Then If MessageBox.Show("Are you sure you want to close and discard any changes?", "Discard Changes",
[CODE]...
Is opened as a dialog (ShowDialog) and when I go to close the inherited form (by click on btnClose) and answer No to the above MessageBox the form closes anyway. Using the Debugged I have worked out that the following events occur in sequence (all of which runs in the Master Form mentioned above):-
1) btnClose_Click sub Routine runs
2) I answer No to the question do I want to close the form
3) The debugger steps over the Me.Close() line (as expected)
4) The debugger jumps up to the Sub Initialise (where ShowDialog was called from) and closes the form.
So at no point has the debugger even ran a line of code which reads Me.Close(), but the form closes anyway so Im fairly confused as to why the form should close. My Master Form (frmAddForm_Simple) Code:-
Public Class frmAddForm_Simple Private _FormChanged As Boolean = False Private _FormLoading As Boolean = False
I am trying to create an inherited form- when I go to add it, I get the following message- "CustomerInformation --- The base class 'Object' could not be loaded. Ensure the assembly has been referenced and that all projects have been built"
I'm currently working on binding an objects properties to fields on a Form. Whilst I have managed to get it so that I can get standard objects to bind, I am having a problem figuring out how I would go about binding an inherited object.
For example, if I had a Client class (the parent class) and then two sub-classes called CompanyClient and IndividualClient. The CompanyClient would have an extra field company name for example. The problem I'm having is that I'm not certain how to set up the binding, as if I set up the binding against the Client class then I would be missing the Company Name property for the CompanyClient, if I set up against the CompanyClient, then it wouldn't work with the IndividualClient as it doesn't have all the fields.
I know I could get around this by having different forms for each of the different Client types, but as almost all of the properties are the same I would like to avoid this if I can.I was wondering whether anyone knows how I might be able to go about doing this
MainForm having a few buttons, VolForm is inheriting MainForm. I can see this perfectly in the designer.VolForm itself contains a trackbar. Now have 2 forms. Form1 and Form2 both inherit VolForm. If I change the trackbar from Form1, and then show Form2, the trackbar is not having the same value. Is there any way to keep this trackbar the same in every form that inherits VolForm?
I'm trying to create my own control to build a custom planning on it.After trying it with loose controls I got an error but after advice on my previous post, I redraw everything.I have now the header of the control finished, the header shows the days of the month for as many months that fit in the window. Now I want to put the list of data below it, but it will be more than the windows height, so I need to have a scroll bar that will scroll the data but not the header.I would not like to design my own scrollbar and rather use the scrollbar control for it, but when I put it in, I cannot use the NEW keyword.example:
Dim sb As ScrollBar
with this I get the error message: 'New' cannot be used on a class that is declared 'MustInherit'.How can I get a scrollbar on my form to scroll the list only (so not the header)?
This might seem like an odd question, but is there a way to make it so that any form that is created based on another, would have some comments in the code behind of the new form?
For example, i create a form called frmONE, and i put in code like this:
Overridable Sub frmONE_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load 'Make sure you call these functions, in this order:
Pretending I have a class that inherits off Control, how would I handle the parent form's Resize and Move events within the control? I have a painting glitch that happens when the form is resized or moved. Right now in the form I just have:
vb.net Private Sub frmMain_ResizeMove(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) _ Handles Me.Resize, Me.Move Me.Refresh()End Sub
But this can't be the proper way to do it, considering Refresh() invalidates all children (will be slow and flashing if the form has lots of controls). I want to basically do the above code inside the control.
Edit:This is the glitch after a resize of the parent form:
And this is what the button is supposed to look like:
Also, I experience this issue if something like a message box is dragged over top of it. How can I remedy these issues by forcing a repaint?
Private Sub Form1_MouseEnter(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.MouseEnter For i As Integer = 38 To 2 Step -1 Panel1.Height = i Next
[CODE]...
I have 2 panels on the form butttt for panel one i want to slide height and panel 2 i want it to slide width.
I need to center the red panel in the middle of the dark grey panel, when you resize the form the red panel should be in the middle, and the red panel can't be resize, anyone have a code or property to do this?
I have a small copy/paste type of program. You put text in the boxes, click copy and it copies it to the clipboard. I have a text file attached to format the text when it is copied. what I want to accomplish is...If I don't fill in every single textbox with text, I don't want that particular field to show when I paste it. Example, I have the layout like below on the text document.
textbox1. textbox2. textbox3.
No matter what, when I click copy, the text document is going to copy textbox1,2,and 3. If I only put text in textbox 1 and 3, I don't want it to copy textbox2 if its empty.
In the key down event for a text or rich text box:If (e.Control) And (e.KeyCode = Keys.V) Then e.SuppressKeyPress = TrueTo prevent pasting for all text boxes on your form, set form KeyPreview to true and add the above code to form key down event.
I have a webbrowser control which I have created a contextmenu for. I have added a paste button and do docbrowser.body.inner.body = clipboard.gettext. The problem with this is when I copy text from a word document and paste it I loose all the formatting. If I remove my context menu and use the default and paste I keep my formatting.
I have one form lays on the top of a form or a panel. I would like be able to drag the top form within the boundary of the bottom form or panel. How can I do that?
I created a base form that has a specific size and an icon as a base for all forms created in my project (to be consistent in looks). The problem is, for some reason if I add a Text box to the Child form, I can no longer execute shortcuts like Copy (CTRL+C) etc into the Textbox.
What should I do to handle this OTHER THAN writing code to capture those on the KeyUp control?
This is also the case for RichTextBox control as well.
I am working in VB.net 2008. I have a Window application that will be used to eliminate a lot of manual copy and paste activates from one work sheet to anther. Workbook 1 (wbMatrix)Never has the same layout twice. The destination Workbook2(wbTemplateSAS)has a defined layout that remains constant. To collect the copy ranges the user pouplates the text box on the form. Only the textbox that need popualted. There are 16 total. These textbox values are then concantianted to create the range. This process is intiated with button click.
When itinated the copy and paste works but not as expected. Cell.text range paste correctly In A9, OEC range paste correctly in P9. After that it skips the next colume as it should. Then in colume R9 the error starts the a paste of the range A10:B10 form wbMatrix is pouplated in R9:S9 Then It paste accoring to the application T9. Then in U9:X9 it paste date for wbMatrix A10:D10. It paste correctly again in Z9. it has the same error agiain till the next Range. It then paste correctly in 9AD. This should be the last paste that have values entered in the textbox to create the range. But it does not finish it paste the balnce of the cells form wbMartix on wbTempateSAS.
To sumerize above wbMatrix Paste to wbTemplateSAS First Row =10 Last Row = 158
I want to make a pretty easy program which repeat some easy things for me
STEP 1: on the first picture I want it will wrote a URL in the form + example [url].....
STEP2: thenI want then the program press on the link Get video
STEP3: and after that will the program "Right click here to download the video"and copy link location
STEP4: finally I want the program will paste paste URL into a new form? is this hard to made?
STEP5: if its possible I want also have a button example name "generate" which add a number of the URL from [url]...10000 to [url]....10001 and the repeat the things and paste into the form>is this hard to wrote a program which made this steps?
I want to include the clipboard from the menu strip of my MDI form, ie Cntrl/C and Cntrl/V. I need a more generic clipboard facility than the examples provided. I want to be able to copy from external programs, like Word, or controls within my program to either a Textbox, RichTextBox or whatever, of which there may be several, on a child form. In VB6 this was so simple, but I'm afraid it is proving frustrating, to say the least, in Visual Studio 2008. I have succeeded in getting data onto the clipboard from an external program, but my problem comes when trying to determine the active control on the child form to where I want to paste the data, so I know how to handle it.
Recently there was a request about sending bulk email which was building a potentially dangerous collection of answers which could lead to someone easily creating a spam engine. While there are legitimate reasons to send bulk email, one must be sure to follow all the applicable rules. This means following RFC 2821 and forming properly crafted email messages. In the US, it also means complying with fedral law regarding the sending of unsolicited email (express permission must be captured through direct user initiation e.g. user's must choose to check the box to receive your email), and that means including a removal instruction as well as valid contact information.
To that end, here is an example program for sending a mass email to a list of recipient addresses located in a database. The code only cares about recieving an array of DataRow objects, so any database for which you can fill a DataTable will work.
To run this example, simply place a Button on a Form and paste in the following code:
I want to add a MDI parent form to a panel on a base form, the problem is that i must set the toplevel = false when add the parent form to the base form, but if i set its toplevel to false i can't set isMDIParent parameter to true. how can i fix this conflict?
I am having two forms say form a and formb and having two panels in formb and i want to show this panels from forma based on some condition and the code which i am using is[code]...
I am trying to Anchor a Form (Top, Bottom, Left & Right) in a panel.
I have tried:
frmFnct.Anchor = AnchorStyles.Top Or AnchorStyles.Left Or AnchorStyles.Bottom Or AnchorStyles.Right
This doesn't error but as the parent Form is re-sized, the panel re-sizes but the Form that is loaded in the Panel does not re-size.
I guess I can use the Parent Forms Resize Event and size the form to the panel dimensions but just wondering if there is a way to use built in functionality?
Taking the following code into the account: [code] This makes my entire form client area act like a cpation bar and i can darg it using any any part of it! Becuase i had a borderless form that is why i used this code (which is definitely not mine - no offense) . This works perfect in windows 7 but in lower OS versions it acts weired like even if user makes little dragging on the form occasionally this triggers and takes the form out of the bound of screen! I was wondering can i alter the above code somewhat like instead of intercepting the form area as caption bar it detects a panel (docked at the top giving illusion of a caption bar) and make that my form move. I know you brothers will make me say that using the mouse down mouse move and mouse up events of panel i can attain this, definitely i can but thought of some more professional approach. url...
