I have a folder of around 200 notepad files with ticket information inside.Essentially, I need to compile a single PDF or Excel spreadsheet from all the information inside the individual notepad files.I don't want to have to open each notepad file, then copy and paste its data manually. I'd prefer to use some sort of loop function that opens each notepad file, extracts the data, and puts it onto an excel or PDF sheet.

View 8 RepliesWe have a Windows based application whose GUI is in Unicode coding (UTF-16 I believe). But each time I copy a string from a cell of MS Excel 2003 or from Nodepad and paste it to the GUI of our application, the string can not be displayed correctly, just comes out. ( but if you type directly from the keyboard into the GUI, it's fine). I believe it is because the string from Excel or Notepad is one-byte string (maybe UTF-8, I am not sure). What is default encoding in Excel 2003? How can I make it work correctly - change the encoding in Excel or Notepad or some other way?

I want to type the data in the top cell, execute an event, have all of the data shift down, and then clear the cell that I typed the data in. I can't insert a row because I have calculations that are based on each individual cell in the list in adjoining columns. I can get this to work by inserting a row but can't get the loop quite right without doing it this way.

One Property, of the Type System.Windows.Forms.Keys, can contain the Value 'Ctrl+F1' witch compiles fine in VB2008, but not in VB2010. To reproduce, simply add the following to any resx file:

I am having trouble to get the command to ask them to go read the text file and copy only the line for the word I put in the input box and to put it in a new notepad.
Below is my code. I have a system that provides me voltage readings that changes based on a timer (interval of 300 milliseconds). I want to compile voltage readings for over 5 seconds (but I need the timer reading to remain at 300 ms) and then spit out an average of the THAT data. How do I do this? I was thinking of using datasetvalue but wasn't sure.

View 1 RepliesI am building an ordering system for my job. The idea is that the customer will put in a stage name for an item. That stage name is then interpreted by the program.The product id and the amount the customer wants to order is placed in a list box on the form. There are a couple of buttons, ADD, REMOVE, CLEAR, and EXPORT. The user input is handled by input boxes. When the user pushes the EXPORT button, excel should open and list out the interpreted product codes with the corresponding amount to order. I can get excel to open, but I can not get excel to display more than one line. It will display the first product, but then it comes up with an unhandled exception.I can not figure out how to get excel to return down a row and display the next product within the list box.

I created a VBA project in Excel. I would like to figure out how to transfer the data back in forth to make a more presentable and user-friendly program in VB Studio.Basically, I need my form in VB to input data to into an excel �workbook.data�, where the calculations are preformed. Then I need to copy the finished excel data cells �workbook.results� and paste them into an end result form in VB. I have tried looking at threads and cannot come up with a solution. There is no data saved each time the program runs, so I don't have a database.

In the excel i have numers and text and "Service Pack", "Processor Speed" and "Numar procesoare(Number of processors)" and the values for these are numers. in the data grid when i import the excel those values doesn't appear, i receive the value "null".

I am reading in data from an excel file that is only viewed inside the program. This excel file is being populated by data from multiple PLCs (7) through DDE links via RS Linx Gateway. I would like this data to be written to two different excel files and specific sheets within those so that it can be viewed later on.
My program has a form that will allow the user to view the data live, meaning they look at the first excel file from the program so that they are not able to edit the DDE links or change the file in any way. The other excel files (there will be two, one for good parts, one for bad parts) have specific sheets for each part and each tester station. For example, if the part is a ABC part, and it is a good part, and it was tester on tester station 1 then it needs to be saved to the good parts excel file, in the ABC sheet and in the good tester station 1 sheet.
If part XYZ comes along and is a bad part (fails testing) then it needs to be saved to the bad parts file, the XYZ sheet and the bad tester station 1 sheet.I might have added more detail than is needed to solve the problem but I thought I would add it anyways to help you all understand my problem a little better.
