I am in the process of converting VB6 applications to Dot Net. I am using VS2008 to do the conversion.I need to change some of the converted VB6 menus from MainMenu to ContextMenuStrip. Is there an easier way of doing this then recreating them?

PLEASE NOTE: It is a ContextMenu, not ContextMenuStrip.
Is there a way I can customly add to the MainMenu control to give the child image property like you would see in a menuStrip? Where you can have drop down's with images next to the text?
View 4 RepliesIn the designer, the MainMenu I have created disappears as soon as I am done editing it. Before, it remained visible and worked as expected. But recently, the MainMenu not only disappears in the designer after editing, but it does not appear in the application.Adding a NEW MainMenu shows up as expected, however alot of work was put into the original MainMenu and its menu items.Is there any way to get MainMenu to act as it should?
View 13 RepliesfrmMDI is the main form, I want to be able to open a child form but change the mainmenu to go with that form. I am having a heck of a time getting this to work.
When I close said childform i want the main menu to revert back to the starting mainmenu.
I am trying to resolve this error. I have the correct values of the menuitems which is 0 and 1. The integer value of "0" is the menuitems on the mainmenu and the other one is the drop down menu item. I get this weird error as I don't know where the problem are coming from.Here I get the error:

View 9 Replieshow to add a MainMenu to a form in VB 2008 Express using the design window. I only see MenuStrip in the toolbox. I can add a MainMenu programatically, but not visually. The reason I need a MainMenu and not a MenuStrip is for owner-drawing. None of the MenuStrip items seem to have an OwnerDraw property.

I have a combobox and I want to disable to contextmenu. I tryed button1.focus() when the right mouse button is pressed on the combo but it doesn't work (it makes the focus and then the menustrip appears), I also put a msgbox but that's not a solution.Maybe something when the form is loaded? or globally disable the right click ability....

I have a form with contextmenu where you can get the menu items on shockwave. I uses the menu items event to get the method of working when clicking them on shockwave by using right-mouse button. When I debug the project and when I clicked on testmenu item, nothing have happens.

View 2 RepliesI've done a lot of work to customize the template for ContextMenu in my app, and it worked great as a "right-click" popup window.To my enormous surprise, when I wanted to add the same ContextMenu to a button to work as a kind of "drop-down" menu, it reverted back to the default template. It is really, really, weird, considering it's the exact same control I'm using, and when I right-click the button the template is the one I customized, but when I left-click it(and open it with ContextMenu.IsOpen = True) it uses the default template? I'm pretty baffled right now, and hope that this isn't one of the (many) quirks with WPF that will require me to write hundreds of lines of XML code to fix something that shouldn't even be an issue in the first place.

I'm actually trying to help another member over at CG with this problem, on this thread url...And I'm clueless as to what to try anymore.The thing is, we're trying to add a Context Menu on a Menustrip. If you were to right click on any menu on the System's Start menu, you'd see, that you can right click any menu item, and do whatever with it.I have sourced some code, and eventually got a sample worked out - the problem is, it only works with top level menus, not submenus.[code]If you were to run this code, you'd see that only right clicking Testing ( the top menu ) works. Can anyone see any reason why this doesn't work with Submenu items
View 3 Repliesi have this app im developing that has a list box and a ContextMenuStrip that when you right click on the listbox it opens the menu strip at the top of the menu there is a item called USER that changes to the value of the selected item in the list box but my issue is this when the user right clicks in a blank space it opens the menu with the user text empty and this is causing me problems my question is how do i close the menu or stop it from opening if the value is null

I'm wanting to add a menu to my project that is going to be dual controllable (touch screen and physical buttons). For when it is being used with only buttons, i need a way to 'scroll' through the items in a ContextMenu. I've tried using SendKeys to send up and down keys but this did nothing and i've also tried using 'GetNextItem' but this also did nothing.
