Convert Image Format From .bmp To Other Image Formats In .net?
Sep 6, 2009
How do you convert a System.Drawing.Bitmap image to any other type of image? I tried CType, which failed, since I do not know the type for .png or .jpg. I cannot find it anywhere on google either.What is the most efficient method to do this, which keeps the quality of the image as high as possible?

I have the following code found on internet:
Const WM_CAP_START = &H400S
Const WM_CAP_EDIT_COPY = WM_CAP_START + 30
'The first step is to recognize that the video captured by the web cam can be saved as individual images. By displaying a series of continuous images on the client, it is similar to watching a video stream. To capture an image, I have defined the following subroutine:
'---save the video data into the Image global variable---
Public Sub CaptureImage()
Dim data As IDataObject
Dim bmap As Image
Dim ms As New IO.MemoryStream()
'---copy the image to the clipboard---
[Code] .....
The problem is the code fail to retrieve the image from clipboard? What I'm trying to do is connect to a webcam, then save the video stream file on this webcam as bitmap file before transfer to the client side as an array of bytes.

I created a new cursor (it works properly, I tried it in windows 7) but is not working for me in the program.I took the Windows cursor (aero_helpsel_xl, from C:WindowsCursors) and it appears to me the same error.i use with this code:
Me.Cursor = New Cursor("Patch..")
The problem say:: "{"Image format is not valid. Image file may be corrupted.
Parameter name: stream "}"
edit: I realized what the problem ... It can read only cur files with 24-bit color and lower - but it shows only two colors: black and white.

The coding below is to retrieve the Raw Image Data from the Database and then write as a JPG image file. The problem is the image file (image.jpg) is "nothing" after file created. I guess there is something wrong in the following coding.
fs.Write(rawData, 0, fileSize)
No any runtime errors I can find, and I double check rawData (i.e. Buffer) contains data. But don't know why there is "nothing" inside the image (image.jpg).
Private Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button2.Click
Dim fileSize As Integer
Dim rawData() As Byte
[code]....

I need to create an application that converts an image to an icon. This is for a school project, and I know there are libraries in VB that do image conversion, however I have to make the conversion process myself. My first task is to convert an JPEG into an icon. I made the GUI, and have the program open up the files and scale them down into my pictureBox. What I need, are some suggestions for the conversion, since I can't use what VB has. what do I need to start with ?

I'm trying to save an image with the lowest possible quality. The lowest I got with a few colors was using the SaveJPGWithCompressionSetting the file size was 43kb.What im trying to achieve is something like remote desktop, the client constantly takes images for the current desktop then send its via TCP to the server(because I cant figure out any other way to get desktop stream). Everything works great but If I want to be more Real-time the image quality needs to be lowered. I can create 43-50kb desktop snapshot of a 1600x900 resolution,

Does anyone have a VB 2008 code example to save a bitmap in 256 color (8 bits/pixel) PNG format, using the default Web palette? (I keep getting 32 bits/pixel).Note, this is not for icon use, but for images.
Dim bm As New Bitmap(1024, 1024)
...
bm.Save("test.PNG", ImageFormat.Png) seems to save with 32 bits/pixel

We have a winforms appliction that has to talk to an AS400. To do this we imported the IBM.Data.DB2.iSeries classes in the Winforms application and have IBM System I Access for Windows on our machines. It must have the System I Access or it will not talk to the AS/400. Everything works fine on my 64bit development machine. It also works fine on the client's 64bit machine. However when we attempt to install it on a 32bit machine we get a Bad Image format exception. We tried making just an x86 installer instead of any cpu but that did not work (same bad image exception).
