Ok I've tried for a while now but i cannot figure this out.I want to be able to take a text file of any size and convert it to a 2 dimensional array. Doing arrays with a set size is what i understand but i cannot figure out how to write a loop to find the size of the text file to be put into an array.
How to convert memorystream byte array to csv file. I have GetExport method that converts rpt file to excelformatted memorystream and then returns that as a byte array. Is there a way to convert this byte array to a csv file? Due to some reasons I can only pass this byte array back to calling function.
Public Function GetExport(ByVal reportID As ReportID) As Byte() Dim byteArray As Byte() = Nothing Using expRptDoc As ReportDocument = New ReportDocument() Dim rptFileName As String = Server.MapPath(ReportCommand.GetXMLReportPath(reportID)) expRptDoc.Load(rptFileName) [Code] .....
I'm attempting to get the size of a bunch of files located in a directory with an array. Using a single file, it works great. But as an array, I get an error. This is the code I was using:
VB .NET Dim filepath() As String = Directory.GetFiles("C:Test", "*", SearchOption.AllDirectories) Dim lvi As New ListViewItem Dim fi As New FileInfo(filepath.ToString)
[code]....
It works... kind of. It adds each file to the ListView, when I just want the whole sum. I was hoping I could just use "DirectoryInfo" from the System.IO namespace, but everything I've been reading says I need to loop through the files.
I've got a problem in Importing Text delimited File to access Db , I always get an error "No value given for one or more required parameters' while execution [Select Into] Statement
[LEFT] Dim svdialog As New SaveFileDialog svdialog.Filter = "Access Database Files (*.mdb)|*.mdb"
Encoding of the text file: UTF8 (so each character is represented by different numbers of bytes).
Collation: UnicodeCI (when several characters are essentially the same, the most popular version will be the one unique.). I think I know how to handle t his one.
Because each character is represented by different numbers of bytes and each line has different numbers of characters, the number of bytes in each line also vary.
I suppose we have to compute hash for each line. We also need to store buffers location where the line each. Then we have to compare buffers. Then we will check whether the same line shows up or not.
I've been trawling the web for ages trying to find some dll's/code to be able to extract text from a PDF file and keep the formatting as much as possible.I did find something last year, but it simply took all the text and created one big list of every section in no particular order, so I couldn't read the values I needed from it.
Currently I am trying to convert a tab file to an xml but I seem to be running into some issues when trying to do the conversion.Example of the text file this I need to convert:
I'm working on a project and need to determine the size of a text file. I know that I could just count characters but the file will be several MB's large.
my form to save its size when it closes. At the moment the code tells it to create a .txt file with the form size.but now I have to convert it back to System.Drawing.Size, anyone got an idea of how to do it or an easier way of saving the form size?
I have a Comma Separated value file in .txt format... simply put, its a bunch of data delimited by commas and text qualifier is separated with ""For example:
"So and so","1234","Blah Blah", "Foo","Bar","","","","" "foofoo","barbar","etc.."
Where ever there is a carriage return it signifies a new row and every comma separates a new column from another. My next step is to go into VB.net and create an array using these values and having the commas serve as the delimeter and somehow making the array into a table where the text files' format matches the array After that array has been created, I need to select only certain parts of that array and store the value into a variable for later use.... how to make the array and selecting the certain info out of it..
im trying to make an example program for a teacher friend of mine
Springfield Toledo Youngstown
[Code]....
thats just what i have so far but im really having trouble getting the other part into a 2d array. i want the second half to look like this when done: the oppsite of what it looks like in the file.
how to convert a mdb file to text file.Actually the ms access database is in Ftp. i need to do synchronisation. so i neee to download the database from ftp tp local machine using vb.net. I'm able tp download the entire database but it is taking a longtime. so i'm planning to convert it into textfile and then download.
i'm having a hard time converting a working version of my project that received all of its data from a text file, to now receive data from a database.[code]So I must be having trouble with the Do Loop, because I don't know how to read each individual line, like a text file. I know how to change all of the .Substring's in the text file to the .Item's from the DB.
i wrote a program to read a 100mb size text file and loop through it to look for some kind of information I need. Before even i start looping through it, my program hang when i start to read the whole text file using the ReadAll method of the TextStream object. Is there any way that I can read through the whole text file more efficiently?
This seems to work OK. Upon checking f_Data is indeed filled with 8 double type numbers.
I then try to convert this system.array to a double array as follows:
For i As Integer = 0 To f_NumberOfObservations - 1
f_Measures(i) = f_Data(i + 1, 1).value Next I then get an error pointing to the line ' f_Measures(i) = f_Data(i + 1, 1).value' of type MissingMemberException was unhandled by user code'
Okay I am working on a Voice Recognition Application that has a chat bot in it. When voice is recognized it converts the recognized string into an array and checks if the first or last value of the array is either computer or the Bot's Name. However, I am still very new to VB.NET only been programming in it for a few days. (I know ASP and VBscript really well though) When it goes through the check I get an exception how do I fix this? Here's my code with a comment on the line that it fails on:
Private Sub OnReco(ByVal StreamNumber As Integer, ByVal StreamPosition As Object, ByVal RecognitionType As SpeechRecognitionType, ByVal Result As ISpeechRecoResult) Handles RecoContext.Recognition Dim recoResult As String = Result.PhraseInfo.GetText 'Create a new string, and assign the recognized text to it.
I am attempting to gather a group of file names from a directory. I am able to do this. I tested the code by having the list populate into a listbox and all desired items were added to the list.
Here is my code: Dim di As New IO.DirectoryInfo(strPath) Dim dir1 As IO.FileInfo() = di.GetFiles("*.txt") Dim dFiles As IO.FileInfo ListBox.Items.Add(dFiles)
However, a listbox is not my desired output. I am attempting to write these file names to a text file for purposes of then parsing the information to a datatable to compare with another datatable. How to get my filenames written to a textfile.
I have a rich text box that have a paragraph in it (the parragraph may change). The user is able to decide what type and/or size of font he whishes to view the text in. My problem is that not more that an average of four words per line should be displayed per line. My idea was to size the rtb so that it automatically wrap the text to and average of 4 words per line. This I would do by determining the average width of a word (number of characters) in the paragraph, multiplying it by the width in pixels or twips of a character and then multiplying by 4 to get the average required length of a line. It does not need to be exact as long as I can get as close as possible to 4 words per line. Sample text:
My Father walks to the market every day to buy fresh bread and milk for the house.
Result expected:
My Father walks to the market every day to buy fresh bread and milk for the house.
Notice some lines may be slightly longer as long as the average is 4 words per line.My problem is that I dont know how to determine the width of a character in order to ultimately determine the width of a sentence.
I'm working on a homework assignment for class from the Programming in Visual Basics 2008 published by Mc Graw Hill. It is the Chapter 11 Case Study. We are to create a program that makes a text file and populates it with data. Then use a second program that reads the contents of the text file into form containers. The first half is working perfectly.
I'm trying to read specific values from the text file (below)[code]...
How do I store only the data I require in the array? I've tried split and substring but cannot work out a usable method - I need on the text after the colon for each line.
Im doing some work right now for a class and this is my first time ever using arrays and im having some trouble. I need to make a program that places the names in an array using a text file and displays all presidents for a requested range of numbers. every time i try and run the program it says "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." but im not really sure what that means, Heres the code
Public Class frmPresidents Dim numLow As Integer, numHigh As Integer, Pres() As String Private Sub btnPresidents_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As
So I am trying to learn vb.net and am a beginner. I find alot of online tutorials, but have yet to find one where I can follow what I'm attemping to do, just bits and pieces. I want to keep the code basic until I learn more, and in this case use two - one dimenstion arrays. I built a program to write Employee Names and Wages to a txt file.ie.
Jack Black vbtab 60000 Nick Mole vbtab 45000 and so on
I want to bring back that data and place the name and the and wage each into an array so I can calculate different criteria when I hit a search button. I will not know how many names and wages will be written to txt file. I am having trouble understanding exactly how to do this as all the examples I've found list only one array or the txt file is line by line like.
Jack Black 60000 Nick Mole 45000
Everything else I've found is over myhead so far. Here is my code so far if anyone can let me know where I'm going wrong. I have one error that tells me "property chars is read only". I have no idea what that means, even after reading up on it really...and I'm not sure if the rest of the code I've wrote is 100% anyway I assure you that I've spent more than a few hours trying to solve this myself.
