I have a set of instructions coming from a SQL database and the number of instructions is a variable. Therefore, I have a TabControl which I add TabPages to at RunTime depending on the number of instructions there are. The TabPages are then created with the names; Step1, Step2, Step3, etc.Each TabPage is made with the same controls and all of the controls are named the same from page to page (e.g. "instr" is the name of a TextBox control that exists on every TabPage).I can successfully create a GetControl method that will return the correct TabPage, but I cannot reference any controls on that TabPage.I can only change properties of the TabPage.If I try to reference a specific control on that TabPage, like the "instr" TextBox control, I get the null reference error.[code]

I have an application where the tabpages are created at runtime and the forms are docked into the tabpages as controls. Now I want , a right click on the tab to ask the user whether he wants to undock the form as a seperate window. Is this possible

I have the following code which I use in another Form and it works perfectly. I copied the same code to another form, changed the controls, keys combinations, etc., but the keyboard shortcuts do nothing at runtime. None of the key combinations work, it throws no Exceptions,I put a MessageBox in the F1 KeyDown conditional, but it doesn't show. That tells me that it's not Handling the KeyDown Event.[code]

So far, the program seems to work except for the fact that each key needs to be clicked by the mouse before the sound is played by pressing each key (hence put the object in focus), where I need the key to play the sound without clicking the keyboard key (put the object in focus on KeyDown).Below is an example of my code:

I am using System.Windows.Forms.TabPage to store an entire TabPage for later use in My.Settings. Here is a brief description of the application.
I have a TabControl that has 3 tabs. One for user input, another tab for equipment settings, and then a final tab for Oven settings. On the user input tab, if the user de-selects the checkbox for Oven, the oven tab is saved to My.Settings and hidden.
I can then run the application without oven control. After running, lets say the user would like to re-run, this time with the oven. They go back to the input tab and re-select the Oven checkbox. However, the Oven tab doesn't re-appear. When stepping through the code, the is nothing stored in My.Settings for the oven tab page. Why not?
Also, I can open the application, and check, then uncheck the oven checkbox and the tab is hidden, then returns. I can do this all day. However, after running the tab will not return.
Needing pointed in the right direction. I am fooling around with data sources and connections per homework and what I'm looking for is creating an SQL DB connection during runtime. I know that you can add a data source in design by going through the Wizard but what if one would want to create the connection, adapter, and dataset during runtime? Where would you start?
I have cruzed the net looking for some form of a tutorial to just get me started, I don't need it all completely outlined but I need to know where and how to start and what I need to declare the connection, string, and dataset as. I have seen a lot of information using VB6 but nothing that I come across seems to work.
My basic questions are:Do I have to create a seperate class for the database connection?How do I delcare the nuts and bolts of the connection,adapter, and dataset?If a seperate class isn't required then where is the most realistic place these items would be created?

Now there are no errors in the code apparently, but when the left key is pressed, the picture box isnt appearing. I added the "lblAnswer1.visible = false" just to test the keydown functionality, and that works.
im doing a project in which im basically trying to make an etch-a-sketch style program.

View 2 RepliesI am having some problems adding controls at runtime, or I guess I should say accessing the controls after adding them.The application starts off with a tab control named "tabIncidents" and one tab for an incident information. The user can click on a button to add a client. When the button is pressed a second tab is added to "tabIncidents" named "Clients." On the newly created "Clients" tab another tabcontrol is added named "tabClients" and we create a tab named "Client". Multiple "Client" tabs can be created on this tabcontrol. Each "Client" tab gets a usercontrol added named "clientInformation" which has name and address textboxes.

Problem: Need to get a picturebox to display four images, one after each other. But in a way in which during runtime the changes can be seen.
So I figured if after every image is changed for example if I had some sort of timer, then during runtime the image will be shown, then after a certain period the next one would be shown and etc. I tried doing this using a timer and then a stopwatch but both time's no change can be seen in runtime and there is a small wait before the last image comes up.
I then also, tried using sleep, but that also showed no changes. Underneath is a quick piece of coding of what I'm trying to achieve, but instead of textboxs, for the sake of what I'm trying to do I will be using pictureboxs.

Also labels with given TEXT are also to be created when create label button is clicked. then we should be able to print the form contents as it appears but without any buttons.
