I have a utiility that users can re-order DataGridView Columns in to their hearts content. I want them to be able to create a named list so they can have multiple Column Patterns to choose from. When I restore though the re-ordered Columns are not where I saved them.

I'm trying to write code to create a new database and then create tables within the database.
I'm running into a strange problem right now, which is the fact that I was able to create a new database ok on either the regular SQL Server instance, or the SQLEXPRESS instance. However, when I attempted to create a table, I got an error message saying that there is already a table of the same name.
When I tried to connect to the new database via SQL Server Management Studio, I could see the database. However, there are no tables in it! So, theoretically, I'm creating a brand new blank DB, so there should not be anything in this DB, right? and I should be able to create any tables I want in it!
Here is the code that I have so far:
[code...]
I just have one simple form with a button on it. The click event on this button calls the CreateAllDBs() routine.

I have searched the Internet and this forum for any help on making specialized lists in a Richtextbox instead of the default bulleted list (i.e: Numbered, Upper Roman, Lower Roman, etc.). I know that the default Richtextbox only supports Bulleted lists. I have tried to find a custom Richtextbox control that does it and nothing.I found this code snippet on another site, but after messing with it for a while I just put this on the back-burner while I worked on other things.

I'm not even sure where to start. I would like to create something like the ADO DataReader but that works in a TCP Client/Server scenario.Basically, in the TCP Client, I want to be able to call a certain command in the TCP Server which will return a DataReader like object, which I can then iterate through such as:
while dr.Read from the client. In each loop, I would parse out the various fields as in a normal DataReader. The reason I want to do this is to gain the inherent efficiency of the DataReader object since it doesn't first load ALL of the data. To my understanding, the typical TCP Client/Server setup using streams, would first load all of the data on the server, then transport ALL of that data to the client for processing. I want to avoid that, and just stream the data as the client requests through the Read() command which means the connection will remain open to the server while the Read() command is being issued by the client, or until explicitly closed by the client.

Im thinking of making a really user friendly tcp drag and drop tcpclient/server like winsock.
[Code]...
How would i create this for my toolbox, but use sockets with this item. or can it be as flexible as socket?
How would i do this? Would i need to add more or create a brand new socket with my mini drag n drop Client/Server Ex: MySuperEasyClient.ASCII.EncryptData.SendData(textbox.text)
ps: What would this be called? TCPClient/Server or UDP?

Well my problem is that I have a image stored in a database which is a OLE Object.
My Problem is that I am trying to view the database in Vb (windows form) but the image does not appear.
All I can see is a small red cross where the image should be.
I have tried both Datagrid view and Detail View.

I am building an application that has several forms to it and on my first form, I declare 2 variables that I will need to pass to at least 2 of the other forms. I call them
Public payPeriodStartDate, payPeriodEndDate As Date
on form2, I am needing to pass those variables to a datagridview to present to users. I have the following query that I'm trying to run from that form but I'm given an error that SQL is unable to parse the query:
Code:
SELECT Employeenumber, Exceptiondate, Starttime, Endtime, Duration, Code, Approvedby
FROM Exceptions
where [Exceptions].exceptiondate between '" & payperiodStartDate & "' and '" & payPeriodEndDate"
The datagrid is bound to the form and I'm using SQL 2000.

Masters of the visual basic arts, I, a lowly noob, would just like to ask for your wisdom (and mercy). For my program needs to determine if the data grid view has any content because if that certain datagridview doesn't contain anything, then I would disable a couple of functions for the program.

I am starting to design in Visual Studio 2008 and I am designing a web application that connects to a SQL database. In VB6 I could create a record set and read its contents as follows.
SQLCommand = "SELECT * FROM Tablename WHERE field = '" & data & "'"
Recordset.Open SQLCommand, Database, adOpenDynamic
If Recordset.EOF = True Then
MsgBox "Record does not exist!", , "Record does not exist"
End If
Then I would Bind the fields data to, say a text box like this
Textbox.Text=Recordset("Field1")
I am finding dificult to do this in Visual Studio 2008. Does anybody know how to create a recordset in Visual Basic 2008 as described above.I have been reading a lot, watching traing videos, and researching on the Internet and I have not found any source which will explain how to do it.

I am writing an application in VB.Net, the application stores a number of images within the database and therefore the SQL database size gets quite large. At the moment I use a single database, however what I want to do is create a new database for each project within my application. I need some advise on the best way to proceed with this and also the best way to be able to create a new database for each project. Below is the approach that I was planning to adopt:
1. When the application is installed it automatically has a common database that comes with the application and this database is attached to the SQL Server, lets call this application "AppA" and common database "AppADB" Within the AppADB there would be a table called projectsTbl and in this projectsTbl it has a 2 columns called "projectDesc" and "projectDB". projectDesc would hold the description of a project and then the projectDB would hold the SQL database name for that project.
2. The user would login to my application and in the admin side of the application have a create project form. In this form he would enter the project description and also a 3 character code for the project. When the user OK's the form it would take the project descrption from the form and put this in the "projectDesc' field in the AppADB and then take the 3 character code from the form add this as a prefix to "AppADB" and put this within the "projectDB" field within the AppADB e.g. if the 3 character code was "SIM" then the projectDB name would be "SIMAppADB"
3. What I obviously now need to do is create a new database called "SIMAppADB" now what I was thinking was I could create a SQL database backup of a database that has the standard database structure that is required and then I can restore this .bak file (which would be in my application installed directory) to this new name, using the following code:
Code:
RESTORE DATABASE SIMAppDB
FROM DISK = 'C:Program FilesAppA Installed DirectoryDB.Bak'
WITH REPLACE, MOVE SIMAppDB_Data' TO 'C:MSSQLDATASIMAppDB_Data.MDF',
MOVE 'SIMAppDB_Log' TO 'C:MSSQLDATASIMAppDB_Log.LDF'
4. Then when the user logins to my application again, on the login screen he will see a list of projects from the "projectsTbl" table in the "AppADB" database. The user can then select the project they wish to login to and from this the application and extract the database name from the "projectDB" table in the "AppADB" database. I then can store this database name in my application and when the application needs to connect to the database it modifies the connection string to connect to the respective database.

I am using Visual Basic 2008, and SQL Server 2005. I have a single-user client-server app (i know that sounds stupid, but its for future expandibility and also the fact that documentation was easier to find for SQL server than Access files). The app is basically a medicals records system.
In one of the tables, called 'visits', it stores the dates on which each patient visits the doctor, among other things like symptoms and diagnosis. Another table stores all the patient names and IDs along with other details, and a relation has been set up between the patient ID in the patients table and the visits table. So i dragged the visits table from within the patients table (to get only the visits for that particular patient), and dragged it onto the form to make a datagridview. However, the datagridview didn't seem to recognise MS SQL server's smalldatetime format, and tried representing it as a picture. When i changed the format of the column to text boxes, it gave me a type mismatch error (Inconvertible type mismatch between SourceColumn 'VisitDate' of DateTime and the DataColumn 'VisitDate' of Byte[].) That means, for some reason, it is trying to convert the smalldatetime data to byte before it shows it, which is leading to the error. How do i fix this?
Also, I remember seeing some option for using completely custom column types in the datagridview, but i cant seem to find it now. The options in 'Edit Columns' are very limited, but i would like to set it to a masked text box, or something with a fixed format. Can someone recommend a good column type for representing dates, and how to make the datagridview show that kinda column?

I'm trying to write out animals from a database. All the samples I see for creating View pages have hard-coded "nodes" in the URLs. I can get my first view to work but my second one doesn't write out the correct URL to go to the third one. So, for example, I want my URLs to be:
/animals/
/animals/canines/
/animals/canines/schnauzer
I have the default route setup:
> routes.MapRoute( _
> "Default", _
> "{controller}/{action}/{id}", _
[code].....
... I'm guessing I'm missing something in a route path but what is it? It can't be that I have to know the path I'm at on every page in order to write out the URL - can it?

An order can have many OrderDetails, and a Product can be on many different orders. The OrderDetail table just has the OrderID and productID, so there is essentially a many-to-many between order and product).I have a form for the user to enter a new order. I want to have an unbound box that contains the names of all the products, and to be able to drag these names into a box under the order, to add a new OrderDetail record using the productID of the dragged order along with our orderID.

I'm looking for some simple code that lets me create a Microsoft Access table via code.Currently all I do in Access is write and retrieve data from specific tables but now I want to be able to create them at runtime. Here is an example of the code I use to load some data just so you can get a feel of what I'm currently doing. Hopefully there is an easy way using the same rough way that I'm currently dealing with databases.
Code:
Public Sub LoadCareer()
Public rs As New ADO
