DB/Reporting :: Data Formatting Lost In Translation?

I have an APP that reads data from MS Access tables. It all works fine except that the numbers in Access table are formatted like 800001 so when the user puts "2" in the access table, it changes to 800002 and so on. I want to read the data AS THEY APPEAR in VB.Net but it reads them without the special format. So I get 1 or 2 etc.
I know how to format the data within VB but I don't want to hard code that as the format in MS Access might change. Is there anyway I can read the data format in MS Access ?

I have some WORD files, which are formatted using bold, italic and colors etc. I want to copy entire content of word file into SQL Server table using Visual Basic.NET.I have a RichTextBox on my form and used datatype nvarchar(max) to store Unicode Hindi data. Everything is working fine... data insert and retrieve is OK, but formatting is GONE.
Below is the code to insert.

I have set up a form that will act as my parent (this hasnt been set up as an MDI).On this form I have a Panel that I will be loading forms into. I have a form that contains a DGV. On the load of the parent form, I then load this "child" form into the Panel. In the onLoad event of the "child" I go off to the database and populate my DGV. Then I run through the rows in the DGV and add in a logo image in the first column and change some cell colors based on values in those cells.
This all works great, however, when the child form finishes loading all the changes are lost. eg The logo images go back to the red cross and the cell coloring is gone.If I call Me.Refresh() in the child window as the last line in its Form_load event I can see the logo and cell colors update to what I want, but as soon as it has updated, its like it immediately refreshes again and all the changes are gone.

I guess I'm the newbie. I've just started trying to learn Visual basic 2008 express edition. I'm an old cobol mainframer and I'm having a hard time understanding this language. My project is to read a log file looking for claim numbers and I need to check that each claim has a start record and an end record. [code] objExcelAppDataSheet is the excel application's object and strTemplatePath is the path of the excel file.This excel file is like a template that i am using in my application. In this file some cells are merged. After copying to the new sheet the formatting of the sheet does not remain same. Columns sizes are changing. Why this problems occurs? Is this MS office versions issue??

Two quick questions about datagridviews... I have an unbound dgv and I'm trying to do some simple formatting but sadly my .net knowledge is limited at best. I'm trying to make a balance sheet and I need to do two things:
1. How can I set row(d) to sum row(a:c) for each column (for multiple years of financials)
2. Is there anyway to not only make a row readonly, but make in unselectable (to skip totaled rows)?

I have two data tables. the second related to the first. Using a datagridview for the first table I am able to enter and save data ok. if I run the code twice in a row the data is still there. When I edit the data in the related table in it's own datagirdview the data is there and displays correctly, but on running the code a second time the related data is lost. In both cellendedit events I am using

I have an asp.net/vb file that receives data and processes it via a stored procedure. The code had the width set to 2 for the year's varchar, so it was chopped, leaving only the first two digits to get inserted into the db.Is this info possibly retrievable from a system/IIS log file or is it lost forever?

I have been trying to do this for ages and having no joy whatsoever.
I have a ribbon window of the following hierarchy:
MainWindow
MainContent (Tab Control)
TabContainerViewModel
ViewModelBase
View model base has an ObservableCollection of tabs type ViewModelBase. The Tab Control itself is binding fine to these, displaying appropriate view models. I have 2 problems however, I want a "NotepadView" (Of type viewmodelbase) to be replicated numerous times (one view many view models).
At the minute, I have 4 views (NotePadViewModelx where x is 1-4) with corresponding viewmodels, this is because each view had the same text per tab. Now I have individual views per tab.
When I type into tab 1 and switch to tab 2, I lose what I typed in tab one when I click back.

I have a small doubt: (VB.Net 2005, MS-Access 2007)Is it possible to add the current row from DGV to DB as soon as the row lost its focus..i.e. whenever i add a new row in DataGridView it should automatically get inserted into the database without pressing any buttons... Bcoz i need to add more new rows dynamically & hence i find little difficult in clicking the ADD button again and again to insert each and every Record.

I am pulling data from one SQL Server database, formating the data and then inserting it into another SQL Server Database. I am looking for a faster way to do this than the one I am currently using. The data pull is about 37,000 rows, so formating it and inserting it one row at a time is very time consuming. I was hoping I could format it into a datatable and insert the datatable into second database essentially inserting all rows at the same time as if they wre within the same databse, but I have not found a way to do this.

I am working on a vb6 to vb.net migration project using vs 3.5. I have a datagridview.in a particular cell of this grid, user has to enter only numeric data. but after user enter data, itshould become concainated with a $ symbol (eg: if user enter 34, the cell value should become $34). And if he/she presses the hyphen ("-") in the key board, the data (ie. $34) should become -$34 and if again presses the hyphen button in key board, the data should become $34.

I have a Visual Basic Program that, when I enter data into a textbox, uses LEAVE events to update it. However, it will not update until I go to another textbox or press a button or other similar control.This also happens when using the LOST FOCUS event.How can I make the textbox update (be it doing a financial recalculation or some other custom function) happen when the user clicks/tabs out of the textbox and NOT having to click on a button or into another textbox?Do you recommend having a separate button for performing the custom functions?

I am using vb.net 2003. In my program I access an Access database file via Jet 4.0 and OleDbDataAdapter.I have several tables constructed with text boxes that are filled with data using OleDbDataAdapter.Fill. This all works fine. When Integer data is displayed in the boxes it is shifted to the left as text. How do I format these textboxes when I am filling them with the Fill statement? I would like them numbers to be shifted to the right and have commas placed every third didgit.

OK, this is crazy - How do I format text in a text box, (or god forbid) a grid, so that if it is a number it will align right, and if it is Currency it will have a $ sign. Do I have to define a Data Template? Every Template example online seems to deal with drawing borders around ListBox items, or showing photos instead of Strings,. I found 20 links, and not one talked about Alignment of #s or Currency.I'm new to WPF, and can only say that ease of use has gone to hell with WPF. Some things that were straight forward in Winforms are (IMHO) arcane in WPF (and I come from Delphi, which makes both VS Winforms and WPF seem like Rubik's Cubes).
