i am trying to redistribute my app that uses Oracle 11g:

The problem i am having is that it will not run on a machine that doesnt seem to have the correct drivers that its looking for. When i install ODAC 11.2 Release 3 (11.2.0.2.1) with Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio on the test VM it works just fine but thats a 230+mb file to download and install! Not to mention that if the user already has Oracle 10/11g on their machine that it may mess up their current connections/etc by installing that setup file.Is there another setup package that i can install that only has the Oracle Data Provider for .NET 2.0 11.2.0.2.0 or whatever its needing from that ODAC 11.2 Release 3 file.

I do not have any exception, I can read format from it and whatever reader I use I got this problem.EDIT : After some tests, it seems like the uncompressed file I create in the first step (in PCM format, with .wav extension) can not be recognized by the Alvas.audio library for the second step. I have two data tables. the second related to the first. Using a datagridview for the first table I am able to enter and save data ok. if I run the code twice in a row the data is still there. When I edit the data in the related table in it's own datagirdview the data is there and displays correctly, but on running the code a second time the related data is lost. In both cellendedit events I am using

View 1 RepliesI am working on a client/server application. Everything seems to go well for a while (a few hrs, a few mins its kind of random) then suddenly clients stop receiving data. maybe 1 or two, or all of them. in the end I end up having to restart the server piece to resolve it, but I am trying to understand why its doing this. I've added try catches around the send piece, but it doesnt error out. When the app fires, the listener is started on its own thread. When a new connection is made, that connection is passed to a class that handles all of my connection data(send/receive, responding to commands, etc). The class is started in its own thread, so each connection is running in its own memory space. This issue seems to happen with 1 client connected, or 20, it doesn't really seem to matter.
This causes other issues, like a customer who thinks he is disconnected, will shut down his app, which is supposed to send a command to close the connection on the server side which it does not., so now I have several "closed" connections still open on the server, which is obviously also bad. Another thing I dont get is that it worked fine when I was developing the pieces on my dev box, so I dont get why I have all of these "timeout" issues now. (I put that in quotes, because the timeout period is the default of 10 mins, and I xmit data, at LEAST every minute when the server pushes data updates to all clients)

I have a large class that I built to act as a TCP server for one of my silverlight applications. When a user connects it stores the tcp client into a table for later communication. The problem is that when I send data, with more than one client connected, it loops through both open TCP Clients but some how sends the data twice to the same client.... the other tcp client never receives his data. This isn't a logic issue as I can step through the code and see that it is clearly taking each individual TCP client out of the table and sending it the data. They all use the same port... could that be the issue? And if so how do I make it so that it can connect on one port then transfer to another? I have tried using different computers for connecting but still the most recently connected client receives all of the packets of data.

I have a project with a .sdf database include it. The problem is that this database have a lot of data and I have modified some tables adding new columns, etc. How can I update the application without uninstall it and lost all the old database data? Are the some way to update the .sdf database of visual studio with out lost the data.

It all works fine except that the numbers in Access table are formatted like 800001 so when the user puts "2" in the access table, it changes to 800002 and so on. I want to read the data AS THEY APPEAR in VB.Net but it reads them without the special format. So I get 1 or 2 etc.
I know how to format the data within VB but I don't want to hard code that as the format in MS Access might change. Is there anyway I can read the data format in MS Access ?

View model base has an ObservableCollection of tabs type ViewModelBase. The Tab Control itself is binding fine to these, displaying appropriate view models. I have 2 problems however, I want a "NotepadView" (Of type viewmodelbase) to be replicated numerous times (one view many view models).
At the minute, I have 4 views (NotePadViewModelx where x is 1-4) with corresponding viewmodels, this is because each view had the same text per tab. Now I have individual views per tab.
When I type into tab 1 and switch to tab 2, I lose what I typed in tab one when I click back.

There will be a receptionist who books appointments and updates exisiting appointments to say that a patient has "Arrived". In seperate rooms will be nurses who call patients who have "Arrived" and update the appointment as "In Session" and finally as "Discharged". I am using SQL Server as the back-end and Visual Basic 6 (I know) as my front-end.I have been told that there will be 2 or 3 nurses plus the receptionist logged in to the system but I would like to cater for growth.My question is what is the best mechanism to use in order to reflect the status change made by one user on the screens of the other users currently logged in?
I have been thinking about using a timer to refresh the data at a set interval but I do not want to keep hitting the server excessively (although what is considered excessive? we would be talking about a call for data every 60 secs per user). Plus the server could be serving data for many other applications so this is another consideration.Alternatively I have been thinking about sending some kind of message via Winsock to the other users notifying them of data changes as they happen. I don't have a lot of experience with this and am concerned about clients not receiving messages and users seeing old data. I am using a Data Grid View to display data that come in from a tcp stream. When the stream receives data, the data is parsed and placed at the top of the grid. These are my top 3 lines of the cell clicked event of the Data Grid View.

I placed the top line there to prevent errors when a user clicks on a blank grid before any data has been placed in the grid and to stop selecting anything if a user clicks on a column header. But my problem is as data is added to the to the top line that line of data is not click-able because the index=0 or Nothing. So my question is what would be the best way to code this so it is protected from the user clicking on a blank grid and the column headers but still allow the user to click on the first line of data?

I am working on a program that alters very large images. The images are usually in .tif or .bmp format. I load up the old image, copy a section of it into a new image, then save the new image. So far everything works my problem is that the images that i have to alter are 900mb+. Using the simple Bitmap class is not working because the images are quite apparently too large to fit into memory that way. (throwing an OutOfMemory exception)I want to step over the part of loading the image, and turn it into streaming the pixels from the image straight from the disk. I kind of have an idea of how to get the stream open and start reading, but I have no idea what to do with the 32bit integers that are being returned. how to stream pixel data from an image?

I've set up a stream reader to get data from a serial file, functionality for that is already set up.
My problem is that the program seems to be missing out every other line of code in the file, which kinda defeats the point of a serial file. [code]...
This app is trying to send messages to a client listening on the port. The client's logs show that their port is being opened and closed, but no data coming in. Is there a bug or something missing in the following code, like perhaps stream.flush or stream.endwrite or a thread.sleep(0) line, that could cause this? The puzzling thing is, WireShark on the client computer does show the message my app is sending coming into the listening port.
