I have an asp.net/vb file that receives data and processes it via a stored procedure. The code had the width set to 2 for the year's varchar, so it was chopped, leaving only the first two digits to get inserted into the db.Is this info possibly retrievable from a system/IIS log file or is it lost forever?

Is not a valid name. Make sure that it does not include invalid characters or punctuation and that it is not too long.
My question -
Is there any limit to filename or the select query or there is some pattern which I need to follow?
I have two data tables. the second related to the first. Using a datagridview for the first table I am able to enter and save data ok. if I run the code twice in a row the data is still there. When I edit the data in the related table in it's own datagirdview the data is there and displays correctly, but on running the code a second time the related data is lost. In both cellendedit events I am using

im parsing an .xml file to retrieve movie data.[code]i use a contains method in the query but it doesnt like [code] I thought when i use .contains method that it would select the title regardless of the :, but i yeild no results.ive check the .xml file and everything is fine.[code]my code works fine with all other titles that dont contain any special characters.

the w.write(?) stores a boolean value meaning 0/1 for false/true values, but Vb.net seems to use an whole byte to store this data which is too expensive for my table (3.268.760^2).Is there a pratical way to store/retrive single bits from a file using vb.net? (meaning as little as possible conversion to other types).

I am making a simple application that will be able to store competition data into a text file that I have given a custom extension to on saving. Here is an example of the format that i have saved the data in.

When i open the file, i want to redisplay the data in separate text boxes. Later on in the project i want to be able to search within the file for headings for example;
if "[Heat1]" is present then get all text between [Heat1] and [Heat1]
i am currently able to use the streamreader and open file dialog to retrieve the entire string of text fromthe however i am not sure how to go about getting the text between the headings I have used.

I have a project with a .sdf database include it. The problem is that this database have a lot of data and I have modified some tables adding new columns, etc. How can I update the application without uninstall it and lost all the old database data? Are the some way to update the .sdf database of visual studio with out lost the data.

It all works fine except that the numbers in Access table are formatted like 800001 so when the user puts "2" in the access table, it changes to 800002 and so on. I want to read the data AS THEY APPEAR in VB.Net but it reads them without the special format. So I get 1 or 2 etc.
I know how to format the data within VB but I don't want to hard code that as the format in MS Access might change. Is there anyway I can read the data format in MS Access ?

I have a ribbon window of the following hierarchy:

View model base has an ObservableCollection of tabs type ViewModelBase. The Tab Control itself is binding fine to these, displaying appropriate view models. I have 2 problems however, I want a "NotepadView" (Of type viewmodelbase) to be replicated numerous times (one view many view models).
At the minute, I have 4 views (NotePadViewModelx where x is 1-4) with corresponding viewmodels, this is because each view had the same text per tab. Now I have individual views per tab.
When I type into tab 1 and switch to tab 2, I lose what I typed in tab one when I click back.
I have a small doubt: (VB.Net 2005, MS-Access 2007)Is it possible to add the current row from DGV to DB as soon as the row lost its focus..i.e. whenever i add a new row in DataGridView it should automatically get inserted into the database without pressing any buttons... View 3 RepliesWhen i added a 2nd openfiledialog i lost the file list in both dialogs I deleted both file dialogs, added another openfiledialog and coded it the same as the first dialog was previously. now the openfiledialog and the savefiledialog does not show any file list. But when i start to type in the file name box a list of the files that are in the folder appear . if i click on one of them files and click open the image file will properly go into the picture box in the program. from yesterday night i have done a part of my practical and i saved to my pendrive... the folder name as <Chapter 3>and today i went to college computer lab continue to finish another part and i also saved to my pendrive, since i open the .sln file from pendrive.and i go rename those folder names and .sln name and others possible to rename as <Practical 3>when i back home want continue to do, the folder is still exist but inside folder's files are lost.

Table 1 contains account data, address, contact details etc. Table two contains data attached to a Person, tel no , Mobile no, Email etc. Table three contains details on what awards the person holds, i.e. one person can hold several awards.
Therefore I have a one many relationship between the first two tables and a one many relationship between the second two tables. This is set up in SQL
The first two tables are shown on a form, table 1 via a set of text boxes, table 2 via a datagrid control.
I would like the functionality whereby I could select a row in the datagrid showing the persons name and find the Persons_ID number then use that as a filter to a second datagrid view so that only the selected persons awards show in the datagrid.
I have a Visual Basic Program that, when I enter data into a textbox, uses LEAVE events to update it. However, it will not update until I go to another textbox or press a button or other similar control.This also happens when using the LOST FOCUS event.How can I make the textbox update (be it doing a financial recalculation or some other custom function) happen when the user clicks/tabs out of the textbox and NOT having to click on a button or into another textbox?Do you recommend having a separate button for performing the custom functions?
