I'm working on a simple "sports management" game just to test out whether I could make an actual one some time in the future, but for the life of me I haven't been able to figure out how to save the contents of the datagridview. I want it to be saved in a format that doesn't require the user to have Access or any other program, so that the only thing users need are the .exe and the database file. Another question about the datagridview: How do I access the content on specific rows and columns of the datagridview? If I want TextBox1.Text to be whatever is written on Row 4, Column 2, how do I access that information?

When the program is first started, it shows the current data in the DB fine, however, I've been unable to get it to refresh with any updated data from the mdb file. I have a timer running on 5 second intervals, and if i clear the dataset, the DataGridView refreshes to empty.

I have a datagridview which have 5 columns. The name of the columns are T,C,F,S,H.
I have a text file which contain lines like this.

So i want to display this data in datagried view. I must display the number beside T to T column, the number beside C to C column and so on. It should only display number in the respective column. It should not display the T,C and so on.
I have the option to save the contents of the listview that was saved into text file.now i would like to load the text file into datagridview in vb.net but i have no idea how to do it as this is my first time in doing it and i had googled around but couldn't find the information i needed.

I have a DataGridView (dgv) on a Windows form (VB.NET) which is bound to a datatable. One of the bound columns is a an ID (Foreign Key) to another datatable. All I want to do is Hide the ID column and populate an unbound column with the Name (ParmName) for the user. I searched the foreign value in the datatable and retrieved the information. I set the Value of the cell in the Datarow. All works well, but does not display. The cell accepts the value...I can even Debug.Print the values to the console. They are there just nothing displaying in DataGridView. Nothing odd about DataGridView. Should be straight forward...

I have a dataset; I want to create an equivalent record set. What I really want to do is create the XML that a record set can load; I have no other use for the record set per se. I want to be able to load recordsets on other machines (which use VB6 ins of vb.net) with this data. I found some code that loops through the columns in the dataset and creates the fields in the record set; that's executing. However, the code given to open the record set fails with "incompatible or incorrect parameters" or some such. [Code] I can see that a recordset is a construct meant to bridge between running code and a data store of some sort, but in this case the data is "stored" in the dataset, not anywhere else. I want to put that data in the XML form that the recordset uses, so that other code that can only use recordsets (ins of datasets) will be able to read it.

I am using this code at the last line of my form load. I want the position 5,5 to have the cursor set at it. It works when then datagrid is already open:[code]However, when I use it on the form load, you can see that it was selected on the datagrid, but the cursor is set at textbox1...which happens to have the first tab order on the form, even though I have acceptstabs off. Can anyone tell me why this would happen? Basically, it is setting the cursor at the cell I want, but after the form loads, it jumps to textbox1 and highlights the text.

In an attempt to learn VB I'm trying to build a database project for a friend's business. This db will be used to track customer information, predominantly for targeted marketing purposes. So far, the development has been slow (I'm still trying to adapt from VBA to VB), but its all starting to make sense now. I'm using two different forms for adding new customers and reviewing the information of existing customers, mainly because the database will grow by about 2,500 customers per year and we wanted to be able to search the records without returning every record when the forms load. Most of this works so far, but I'm having trouble with two issues.
When I open the new customer entry form, I want the form to automatically begin entering data without clicking the "Add New" button. The second problem involves the row ID from the database. It keep showing up as "-1", "-2" etc. The row ID records properly in the table, so no big deal. I have read that this problem is a bug in VB and that its nothing to worry about. However, down the road I will need to access the correct row ID from this same form in order to print out a report for the customer (as needed).

I have a DataGridView on a form in VB.NET, that is being populated from a SQL table dataset by giving criteria from a previous form. I have 6 columns in the dataset, of which the last column should be combo box column containing items "Done" and "Pending". How do I make this bound column to a combo box column and display the value as well as the alternate item too in the combo box?
View 1 RepliesI have a dialog that is displayed concurrently with the main form and it has a datagridview showing a list of x,y values. The user can actively change the DGV in the dialog, but if I reference the DGV from the main form, it will not capture the user changes, but report the original values that were in the cells. I'm sure there is some sort of refresh or update event I am missing, but I have tried all the VS suggested options for the DGV and the dialog that seem relevant with no luck.
View 3 RepliesI have a problem with a datagridview control, when first loaded with existing data it shows the correct rowcount figure.However, I have a function that when invoked triggers an oledbcommand to clear those records from the database (access) and load new ones from a file (excel/text).The oledbcomands work fine, and the gridview refreshes with the new data fine. However, the rowcount after this refresh is always 0, even with records. What I am doing is creating a module for my app that allows the user to specify the column title and types for a file import - and the procedure will read the header row from a txt/csv or excel file automatically.[code]If I just make edits in the datagridview (as in not invoke the above) the rowcount returns properly.If I close and re-open the form the new data appears, and the rowcount property returns fine also, but I don't really want to have to tell the user to close and re-open it before making any changes.I must be missing something on the refresh or with the datatable or adapter side of things.

I have a datagrid bound to a datatable. The datatable will then be written to an xml file using the built in "WriteXML" function, which is sweet!
What I would like to do is update the table then overrite the existing XMl file when a cell value changes.
The problem is the "CellValueChanged" event is fired before changes are actually committed to the dataset. I do not want to use the "CellValidated" event because it will fire for each row when the file is forst loaded into the dataset and displayed in the datagrid.
