Data Logging Application That Stores Data In A Table In A MySQL Database?
Dec 18, 2010I have a data logging application that stores data in a table in a MySQL database. Data with a TimeStamp is logged into the table anytime the data from the sensor changes. This means that there maybe 2 seconds between data points or there maybe 20 seconds between points depending on how the data is changing.
When I need the data I have 2 dates and use this command to fill a table..SELECT FROM myTable WHERE timeStamp > date1 AND timeStamp < date2 This gets all the data that has a TimeStamp between the given dates, but in most case the first date in the returned table will be after date1, so I need to get the data from one row before the date returned in the table to know what the data was at date1.How can I get the data row that immediately precedes the returned data set?

Feb 18, 2009I have to create an application that prompts the user to enter today's sales for five stores. The program should then display a simple bar graph comparing each store's sales. Create each bar in the bar graph by displaying a row of asterisks (*) in a list box. Each asterisk in a bar represents $100 in sales. I have to make two different versions of this program. One using a "do while ... loop" and the other using a "for ... next loop". Could someone give me a hint on how to do this. I the "do while ... loop" version and I have had some problems, especially with converting the numbers to asterisks.

Jun 5, 2011this is my first vb. and i have assignment and i have been trying for hours but i couldn't do it right I have to create an application that prompts the user to enter today's sales for five stores. Create a loop to prompt for an amount for the first store using an inputbox and do not exit until you have good data. The inputs cannot be negative or greater than 5000, but may contain decimal values. The program should then display a simple bar graph corresponding to the amount of sales using a row of asterisks (*) in a listbox. Each asterisk represents $100 in sales. Display the total of all the stores by looping this process for each store.

Service-Oriented Database Stores Data Temporarily
Feb 28, 2011I am working on a database for a program. I used the .mdf file, created a table, and tried to store data in it.I did not build the program yet. I am still using it on a test drive or debug mode.I added three records to the database.I closed the program for 10 minutes and went back to writing code for it.When I opened up the program again, the database only showed that I had one record.This happened before and after I wrote other code for my program.I only started having the problem today?Is it possible that there is not enough room in the database to store all the records? The variable sizes for 3 of the fields are 400, 500,500, and 1000 and the other fields are like 50 each.All together there are 7 fields. I encountered the error after i had made one of the fields a look up field.In this field, basically I loaded categories stored in an extra files into the comboBox so users can select values without having to retype it.
Can you tell me what the error is and how I can fix it or what I am doing wrong in the program?How do I set up another table and query it to pull the values I want for the comboBox field?

Forms :: Databind The Picture Box To A Database So The Images?
Jun 30, 2009I've looked in a few places but haven't had much luck in finding what I'm after.So I have a picturebox on my windows form and it has an image set to it, I also have a bunch of reference files that reference to a bunch of images.
Me.PictureBox1.Image = My.Resources.imgs.image1
That piece of code works.
Now, I tried to databind the picture box to a database so the images would load on the change of a combo box but that got confusing really fast so what I did was created a database and it holds all the image references such as "My.Resources.imgs.image1" but its stored as type varchar(50).
Connecting to the database and retreiving the strings is no problem, that works all fine.The problem is converting the string to the image reference, it doesn't work. I've tried type casting, I tried using imagelocation rather than image but I want to reference to the resources that is attached to the project.

But the My.Computer.FileSystem.Drives collection does not contain the Network Drives mapped on my machine. I have about half-a-dozen of these, but none of them seem to show up in the Drives collection and thus are not visible to the other FileSystem functionality I need to use for file management.

But to keep it easy, I want this app to create a small picturebox on form to show the thumbnail of downloaded image. Lets say a 5 pictureboxes has to be added with the thumbnails to show the recent downloads. A user can save the location where he wants to save the files on hard disk. A listbox or a dropdown menu will help in categorizing the images, like image1 in friends section, image2 in family section, image3 in others, etc... When the program restarts all the latest 5 thumbnails has to be loaded in pictureboxes and the directory that was chosen. Finally, a button that shows the downloaded images into original image file size one by one or a slide show. Is it possible to make such program?
