I'm using MySQL 5.5 database. I have created a database which only have one table where it stores all sorts of keywords according to categories.
The users key in sentences in the textbox and then I'm suppose to classify the sentences into the category based on the keywords in the database.
How do I loop through the database to compare the strings in the textbox to the keywords in the db?

[Code] my issue is that now i need two cases, first i need a query that will return the date created and modified of the table and i also need to know if its possible to query a list of table names in the database ordered by date created but that have a certain thing in their names. for example the database contains the following tables: [Code] and what i need the query to return is the tables that contain "Data", settings and employees are for the other functions of the program. so the query should return the 4 data tables in order of date created. but i have no idea how to go about doing that in the query, does anyone know how this is done?

I have a data logging application that stores data in a table in a MySQL database. Data with a TimeStamp is logged into the table anytime the data from the sensor changes. This means that there maybe 2 seconds between data points or there maybe 20 seconds between points depending on how the data is changing.
When I need the data I have 2 dates and use this command to fill a table..SELECT FROM myTable WHERE timeStamp > date1 AND timeStamp < date2 This gets all the data that has a TimeStamp between the given dates, but in most case the first date in the returned table will be after date1, so I need to get the data from one row before the date returned in the table to know what the data was at date1.How can I get the data row that immediately precedes the returned data set?

I've been coding in VB.net for a while now, but still have never used the printing features. I've created a program which stores and creates customers and orders etc. I now require to print invoices related to these quotes.Is the following possible within VB.net when printing a document. I am working on a inventory application and I have a question, I have created a table for each of the main categories that I will be using, now if I wanted to add sub categories would I create another table for the sub directory and set the type as a child for its corresponding category or would it be easier to keep the main categories and just add another column in each table for "sub category" so it uses the same table but I can just filter it out easier?
If it is a better option for creating parent and child tables, how would I go about listing them in a hierarchical treeview to show parent and child sub-categories in them.

I do not know much of datasets. I have created a local database with a table as per img 1 attached, and I use them in a simple drop down selector as per img 2. But I get the message as per img 3 , and I played around with the dataset, removing teh primarkey, etc.

The above is more or less the complete question. I have created a table in the VB 2010 Database Explorer but I cannot for the life of me work out how I can get this copied or created into the underlying server. It is not appearing in the underyling serverand when I run the code of course I ge "invalid object <tablename>" I have data as well in the table that appears in Database Explorer. I think I have missed something fundamental in my overall conception of using VB 2010 Express with SQL Server Express in that I don't know if I have a local copy (that isn't then mirrored on the server), or what (the ____ have I got)? An article that explains the overall relation of Database Explorer to the underyling Server would be great as well

I am working on a database for a program. I used the .mdf file, created a table, and tried to store data in it.I did not build the program yet. I am still using it on a test drive or debug mode.I added three records to the database.I closed the program for 10 minutes and went back to writing code for it.When I opened up the program again, the database only showed that I had one record.This happened before and after I wrote other code for my program.I only started having the problem today?Is it possible that there is not enough room in the database to store all the records? The variable sizes for 3 of the fields are 400, 500,500, and 1000 and the other fields are like 50 each.All together there are 7 fields. I encountered the error after i had made one of the fields a look up field.In this field, basically I loaded categories stored in an extra files into the comboBox so users can select values without having to retype it.
Can you tell me what the error is and how I can fix it or what I am doing wrong in the program?How do I set up another table and query it to pull the values I want for the comboBox field?

I'm writing a scheduling program that queries a MySQL database for today's appointments and uses a Table Layout Panel with employees on the top and times on the left to display the schedule. I am trying to add another table ontop of that table for each appointment and set the rowspan of that dynamic table to occupy the time slot of that appointment from start to finish.ll the appointments appear in the dynamic table and each dynamic table appears in the appropriate starting positions in the main table. When you are designing GUI's and put a Table within a table, you get a RowSpan and ColumnSpan option for that inner table. The problem I'm having is the dynamic tables are not giving me a RowSpan option, which I believe is because it was created using code and doesn't know that it's inside another table.Here is part of the code... create a message box that stores my user name, message, and post datetime into the database as messages are sent. Soon came to realise, what if the user changed his name? I want to know what's the right way to work with objects that belong to a category.I'm building an applications with the following layers:Base data access Data access Business logic + Factories Presentation.I want to pass only objects to the presentation layer and back.I have objects (Employees), that belong to a certain category (EmployeeCat). I was wondering if I should have just an EmployeeCatID property in my Employee class/object, or an EmployeeCat property that contains a complete category object.If I want to fill a GridView with a list of employee objects as datasource, and I used just an ID in my Employee objects, then I will have some work at the presentation level to display the category names, so I think. On the other hand, if the list of employees contains plain category objects... I'm not sure what will happen.

I can not use Inheritance Picker Dialog windows. Choosing Project in menu bar and then Add New Item, there is Templates frame only and Inherited Form is missing. Categories frame, which should be located on the left side, is missing as well. So i could not choose Windows Forms from Categories Frame on the left and Inherited Form from Templates on the right. Is it possible that Express Edition does not support Inheritance?

I have created an access database which i want to search with vb.net, I tried a few thing but it didnt work as desired.
Firstly the program is suppose to display items in the database base on the criteria selected by the user. what i've succefssfully done so far is I've added a datagrid 2 combobox, 1 (searchcbo) with the columns in the database and the other (searchcbo1) will autoload the items under the column selected in and a button (searchbtn) but i have no clue of the code to put in the button. i also tried the fill method but that didnt work as i wanted to. ultimately i want a combobox with the list of columns and a textbox to enter criteria and of course a search button.
The searchbtn should act as the "WHERE" sql command, e.g. SELECT EmployeeNumber, Firstname, LastName, Phone, Location....etc FROM CallLog WHERE searchcbo.text = searchcbo1.text And display the results in the datagrid.

how to connect a SQL Table to a DataGridView that was previously created programmatically. Basically, at run-time the user names and creates several empty SQL Tables and DataGridViews. After that the user selects from a combobox the name of the SQL Table and DataGridView that they want to import data into, then clicks a button named "Import"...after clicking "Import" the user navigates to an Excel file, chooses a worksheet, clicks a "Continue" button and then the code successfully connects to the Excel import file and SQLBulkCopies the data to the SQL Table...next I need the imported data in the SQL Table update to the DataGridView...this is the part I can't figure out.
The challenge is the datagridview isn't hard coded it was created and named programmatically at runtime. So now the user selects the name of the SQL Table the data resides in and the name of the DataGridView from the combobox "moduletableCB" and I need the code to update the datagridview.

I have a search page in my application where I am searching the database for the records that meet the specified conditions that the user selects. All of this works by creating the dataset, datatable, and dataadapter in the code. I then take a created bindingsource link it to the created datatable and then attach the bindingsource to my datagridview to display the results. Now what I am trying to do is to figure the Mean, Median, Mode and Standard Deviation of the results that were found above. My question is how to I run a select query on the code created table. I have the select query I want to use and when I try to use it in the code it talks about the connection. Now I have a dataset that is part of the project and I have the on just for the search page. Let me know if you need any code samples.

I am trying to input specific information on a form.I have created an sql statement from a table that will out put 18 rows of data.I have opened a recordset and instituted a do until loop.I need for the program to look at each row and if the Standard Score = the value of a field I have on the form it takes the value of the other three columns in updates it on the form.I have created the code and it works for upto 3 (Do Until loops)records, but when I try to add a 4th in the SQL statement and put in another do loop my computer runs it but it acts as if it freezes up. I have a DTO that I am using to process transactions. To ensure that it is processing in the correct order, I am using iComparable and sorting the List(of T) of the DTO. That works great. However I just got another requirement that the customer wants the output in a different order... is there a way to allow me to have two different sorts for the same object, or do I need to copy the current class, save the output as a new List of that type and sort using the new way for that object?

Im converting a winforms application and it has gone smoothly except for trying to get custom sorts for generic lists working.

I have my classes in App_code but it fails to work like the winforms version.
