Datagrid With Joined Tables As Datasource Bindingsource?
Sep 25, 2011
When I update a record at table [Product] with the integer that stands for [Supplier Name] from joined table [Suppliers], this does not appear in my datagridview. Instead, I have to reload the table to dataset to make it visible. What about datarelation? Is it better that loading a joined table over the dataset? Note that I have never dealed with datarelations before.. How can I make a datagrid column to show "Supplier Name" instead of recordID that represents this supplier?
I am trying to update a datagrid joining two tables with a bindingsource. I keep getting the following error: "dynamic sql generation is not supported against multiple base tables." Any ideas on how to fix the problem? Also, I realize that commandbuilder does not work for more than one table.
have a datagridview containing 2 tables left joined, so that:table1 LEFT JOIN table 2 ON table1.id=table2.idI get an error whenever I try to edit my datagridview."invalidOperationException was unhandled by the user codeDynamic SQL generation is not supported against multiple base tables."The error points to this line:
da.FillSchema(dt, SchemaType.Mapped) da.Update(dt) << This line 'da = dataadapter
Private Sub Save_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Save.Click conn.Open() Dim cmd As New OleDbCommand("Update (SELECT Employee.empno, Employee.emplname, Employee.empfname, Employee.empmidname, Employee.contactno, Admin.description FROM Admin INNER JOIN Employee ON Admin.adminNo = Employee.adminNo) Set emplname=?, empfname=?, empmidname=?,
I have multiple tables that I need to pull and display data from. I have created a new query in the TableAdapter of one table to pull data from related tables based on a parameter. In the Query Designer I can run my query and see all of the columns requested in my SELECT statement, however when I bind this table to a DataGridView and call the new query, it only returns the original columns from Table1.How do I see all of the columns I selected in my query?
Brief : I have code which works if I don't dispose of the BindingSource after it has been assigned to DataGridView.DataSource but breaks if I do dispose it - why? Do I need to worry about disposing this?
[Code]...
So, what is going on here? When I set DataGridView1.DataSource = Bds does it just do this as a reference? How does Bds get disposed once the procedure exits? Does garbage collection pick it up if I assign something else to DataGridView1.DataSource? Do I need to worry about this?
Issue is I would like to filter the datasets based the user type and a few other ways. How can I filter each table(sql query) using the BindingSource that was automatically added. I thought I read that some of the functions work against the current datamember, so I tried the following code.
a table of addresses and a bindingsource for the table a enum list of address type: 0 = "Mailing", 1 = "Physical", 2 = "Shipping" etc...
I would like to bind the datasource of the combobox to the enum so it displays "Mailing", "Physical" etc. Then I would like to change the bindingsource position of the address table based on the user selection of the combobox.
Here is what I have so far:
cbxAddressName.DataSource = New BindingSource(ApplicationEnums.GetEnumList(GetType(ApplicationEnums.CompanyAddressType)), Nothing)
I know this is a very basic question but it has been awhile since I created a project with a database( been using a lot of XML). I created a database then selected it as a data source added some controls to some forms. Then I realized I needed to adjust some tables and I needed to add a whole new table. I deleted the controls and updated the tables that needed some adjustment. Now I would like another table. Can I disassociate the data source and do my adjustment to the database?
Have I created a problem with the binding object since I just deleted the controls on the form. I have written classes and some logic or else I might just start over. I guess I could copy those files but I am wondering if there is an easy way to fix what I have started. I realize that there are alot of questions here so any resource on how to modify a database that is attached to a VB.Net project.
I'm using a DataGrid to display the below custom classes via a BindingSource, I'm trying to figure out a way to save them to a file either by serialization or by some other method. I've tried a lot, but I think it has a hard time serializing because the Account object has the CharacterList object or something. [code]
I have defined a datagrid which has combobox in one of the columns, is there anyway to modify the datasource of the combobox (the source of the list) at run time?
just curious what happens when i set the datasource of a combobox or datagrid or what-not to a dt then when i want to change what's in the combobox etc., i just set the datasource to a new one. i am cleaning as i go but just want to know what happens to the old datasource:
I have create a table called Employee and tried to create a link from DataGrid (in ASP .NET ) control to the datasource. I have created and added the connections tring as all using the wizard. When I need to check generate insert, update, delete statements and pessimistic concurrency the check boxes displayed "disabled".
I'm trying to make my datagrids datasource change when you select a particular item from a drop down menu but all I get is blank cells! any ideas? I don't think it is changing the colums property automatically either.
If chooseType.Text = "Add / Edit Players" Then updateDB.DataSource = PlayersBindingSource
I am filtering a dataview which is used for a datagrids datasource. At runtime when I apply the filters (using Checkboxes to determine the RowFilter text) I get an additional blank row at the top of my grid. This is then treated like a row & is filtered out with other rows that don't fit the filter criteria but comes back when I remove the filter. Basically, its part of the underlying DAtaview it seems. It's not persisited to database but I can't seem to get rid of it when I'm filtering.
Is there a way to check whether a datagrid is assigned a datsource. How can I distinguish a unassigned datagrid from a datagrid that is assigned a datasource.
It's my first time playing with the DataGridView properly and I've hit a little snag...I need to display data in a DataGridView for ease of viewing, and I have a list of all the data. It's a list (of a structure), and I've got no idea how to do this. I can set the datasource as the list, but that doesn't work. I've read up on the topic but don't really understand. Am I forced to use classes not structures in this instance?
I have an ODBC connection to a database, I have 2 tables items, prices. both tables are related via a sequence field. I need a way to load the 2 tables into a datagrid, update fields and then save the changes.items-- itm_seq-- nameprices-- price_seq-- itm_seq-- price_1-- price_2Datagrid needs to show the data as suchname / price_1 / price_2Site updates some cells of the data, hits update.
The records are then written back to the 2 tables accordingly based on the sequence number.. I tried a view that extracts the data and then allows updating, but the datatableadapter will not allow an update statement to be processed against a view.
I would like to have a datagridview sourced from multiple db tables.I understand that the datagridview relies on the creation of a datatable and its relations to the separate db tables I want to view.
I have been mucking about with the Designer but dont seem to be getting anywhere, ie. no results from the relations i've built seem to populate the datatable.
I have got a database with a bunch of tables in it. So far, i can query that database and get the names of all the tables into a listbox. this is sweet.
What i need to do now is to enable the user to click on a table name thats listed in the listbox (which were put there using the
GetOleDbSchemaTable method)
and when they do, i need to populate the Datagridview with the relevant data thats sitting in the table that is listed in the listbox.
I've tried a couple things to get the tables themselves to populate the DGV(which kind of works now), but not the Data thats sitting in the individual table.
In a nut shell what I am trying to do is, pull one or more tables into a datagrid view. I am having one heck of a time returning multiple datasets. I can eleect all indavidually, but when I try to select more than one, I only get the last "table" in the list. If I could establish a ODBC connection that would be better, but this will have to work for now with some canned queries I have.
Master child relation with a Customer form and Datagrid view that has to join two tables in a gridviewI got an error when I tried to modify the query of the gridview
This is the original code/query SELECT `id`, `invoice_id`, `product_id`, `qty`, `price`, `p_tax`, `sub_total`, `sub_tax` FROM `invoice`.`1001_line_items`
I have been on this for a week, with no luck, I keep getting the same error at the same place. IBasically, I join 3 tables together for reporting, I update one of the tables while reading thru, after I want the updates to stay. The error is something like "Update requires valid update command on Datarow".[code]
I need to get information from two tables onto my form. I'm using a DataGrid called SQLGrid which I'm populating in code with the information I need to get out of both tables.
I need my application to be able to update the DataGrid, and commit those updates to the database. My problem is that all the research I've done so far has led me to believe that there's no way I can do this because the SqlDataAdapter.Update() method only updates 1 single table.I just had an idea to make my event handler execute a stored procedure that creates a view on the database, populates it with data from my dataset, and then distributes the information between the two tables where needed.I guess another solution would be to use 2 DataGrids and then tie each of them into a seperate DataAdapter/DataSet, and then update each when the Event is called. The problem here would be that it's more work for the end user to make changes, so I'd really prefer to do it another way.
