The code snippet below is from a c# class library Moserware.Skills.dll that I would like to use in my VB.Net project.I understand that I need to use Dllimport to gain access to the TwoPlayerTrueSkillCalculator class and specifically the CalculateNewRating() function.[code]
how should I DLLImport thing in VB.NET?Example would be:
<DllImport("user32.dll", SetLastError:=True, CharSet:=CharSet.Auto)> _ Private Shared Function GetWindowText(ByVal hwnd As IntPtr, ByVal lpString As StringBuilder, ByVal cch As Integer) As Integer End Function
If I put it inside a Class or somewhere else, I get "DLLimport is not defined" I am using VS2008 (pro)
I have an unmanaged C++ dll that I am using in my program. I have successfully used several functions using DllImport. I have run into a problem with one function that takes a structure as input. I originally tried building a structure to pass to the function, but this was unsucessful. So i created a class to define the needed structure. When I pass this, I get no error message, but also no data is passed back to this variable. I have a C++ example of how to use this function, but I don't know how this translates to VB 2005. Here is how they call it in C++ .
[DllImport("odbc32.dll")] it is working well with 32 bit environment( os) but using 64 bit it is not working. Is there any odbc64.dll? I tried it but dllnotfoundexception was found. So does it has any other name. How to import it? how to use this dll or both in same application.
I notice in the MSDN documentation that there are multiple ways to declare a reference to a function in an external DLL from within a VB.NET program. The confusing thing is that MSDN claims that you can only use the DllImportAttribute class with Shared Function prototypes "in rare cases", but I couldn't find the explanation for this statement, while you can simply use the Declare keyword instead.
I have an application that has an Ms Access 2007 DataBase which runns great if access is installed. Is there any code that I can use in vb that I would be able to run access with out installing it.
I have a program in VB.NET 2005. At some point I have to open an Access2003-Application for getting data in it. I do that by pretending my program is a human user and let it do all the work in Access as a human user would do. Filling Fields, pressing buttons etc. I use the Primary Interop Assemblies for that. So far so good. That code is in use for over half a year now. In the last week I got Office 2007 installed on my machine. Of course I tested the installed version of my program if everthing still works. Every test was succesfull. But if I do the same tests in Visual Studio it always crashes.
All I get is this Errormessage: {"Das COM-Objekt des Typs "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.FormClass" kann nicht in den Schnittstellentyp "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access._Form3" umgewandelt werden. Dieser Vorgang konnte nicht durchgefhrt werden, da der QueryInterface-Aufruf an die COM-Komponente fr die Schnittstelle mit der IID "{66B22FB4-F70E-4F03-A00A-F76E9ADBBF10}" aufgrund des folgenden Fehlers nicht durchgefhrt werden konnte: Schnittstelle nicht untersttzt (Ausnahme von HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE))."}
For all who can't read german:
"Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.FormClass" can't be converted in to "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access._Form3" ... Interface is not supported.
Code I use:
Dim access As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.Application = Nothing . . . access = New Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.Application()
[CODE]...
The Error occurs when I try to access any property of "access.Forms("frmTest")"
Is it possible to set a variable in my custom class for Private Read/Write access and Public Readonly access without creating Properties with Get and Set? In other words, from within my class I want full access and from my form I only want read access. Right now I declare my variable as either Private or Public to control Public read/write access. I tried googling my question a bit but I'm not sure what the correct terms even ar
I'm writing an asp.net page with a simple registration form that connects to my access database and inserts the values in the table. So I have my database, my registration page, everything looks fine in my code, but there's a syntax error I can't seem to figure out. When I go on my webpage and click submit, it says : Syntax error in INSERT INTO instruction.
I am using the code shown below to compare two Access databases with two fields each and write the results to a third Access database. I am getting an error at the "Do While DMReader02.Read = True" line: "Invalid attempt to call Read when reader is closed." Why would the reader be closed at this point if I am using different DataReaders in the two loops?
I'm using VS 2010, and I did a project using VB and a database in Access. The problem is that when I try to put that "application" on other computers, sometimes, is not working. I thought it can be because on these computers they don't have access, but on one computer, is running another app which is using Access and there is no Access installed. How can I check if my application requires Access to be installed or not?
Here is a example of how I did the connection:
Public AccessOLEDBConnString= "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source=" & myfullpath & ";Jet OLEDB:Database Password=password"
Function getConnection() As OleDb.OleDbConnection
[CODE]...
And when I want to have access at the data I'm doing like this:
I am writing a very simple program that connects to a accdb file (Microsoft Access 2007 file) and returns some results in a datagridview. Everything is fine. Now because we have to deploy this program in many computers i publish it so everyone we want can install it and have updates. What i wanted to do is to make the database file part of the program which i did it by adding it to the resources. My problem is that i do not know what connection string to enter in order to access it in my resources. My previous connectionstring before i deploy it was this
(using VB2008) I am trying to automate Access from VB.Net. To do this, I added two libraries to my project, Microsoft.Office Interop.Access v12.0.0.0, and dao v10.0.4504.0. This seems to give me all the necessary commands, yet when I tried to open up an Access database via the following code:
I have a similar problem posted in the forum similar to this : started learning VB. I am not able to get my example code to work to access an Access database through automation. The author of my book suggested that I might not have the correct Jet 4.0 engine. The specs I have are: MSJet40.dll, Dated 7/14/2009, Prod Ver 4.00.9756.0.
I have two Access database, say database One.mdb and Two.mdb. I want to use VB2005 to export tblCustomer from One.mdb to Two.mdb, and replace the existing tblCustomer in Two.mdb, during run time. I basically want to simulate the export function that is available in MS Access (which can export one table from one Access database to another) with VB2005 during run time. I can think of a way by querying the table to a dataset and then delete everything on the other database before filling the table in that database with the dataset. However, there should be something simpler and faster than that, shouldn't it? Any idea?
I have multiple copies of Access dbs running varous projects on diverse workstation all over the country. Some new additions to the team have only Access 2007. Is there a way that I can use both versions without having to re-do any VBA, macros, scripts, etc.?
I have created a shared add-in in Visual Studio 2008 and using the shared add-in wizard and am coding in VB. When run the add in in Access 2003 I want to check if the user has a database open, so I set a AccessApplication variable to be the application object in the OnConnection procedure and then on a button click I check if AccessApplication.CurrentDB Is Nothing If there is no database open Access will close correctly after the button is clicked. But if a database is open then I have to stop Access in the VS debugger.
I have this problem, I can create a setup for my app/database but everyone can open the backend file which is an MS Access database. I want it so we can only access the database using the frontend app.
I coded a program to access a Microsoft Access 2010 database. The program is written using Microsoft Visual Studio 2010. I get the error message that the database I'm trying to access is in an invalid format. look at the code below to see what I missed. The error is in the datasource statement.
I need a good book for beginning to use VB 2008. I have some (limited) experience in using VBA. I want to access a database (SQL) and have access to the data set as variables?
I have created a Student Registration Form. I also created a Database where the student data will be stored. I tried using the submit button to save all fields into the database but its not working. I found a tutorial here but its only on how i can access the content of my MS Access from visual Studio. I NEED USEFUL HINTS for my submit button. Do i need to create a matching column in my DB with the my Visual Studio Form.
I'm writing some web service for my .net application and I have some old projects in MS Access. I wrote a com assemly to give an access to my WS to my MS Access projects. When i'm running it on my computer it work perfectly but when I try to deploy my app on an other PC it dosen't work. It because my dll isn't in the gac I guess. My application is built to scan MS Access database in vb.net 2005. MS Access DB is opening when Access Run-Time (But no Full version of MS Access) is installed in the system as well. But showing error while scanning through our Tool.Need only Full version of MS Access.To Identify, whether the required application (like here we need MS Access Full version) is installed or not at the time of installing our Tool(Through MSI).Is it possible to identify MS Access Full version with Run-Time while installing the Tool?
I am an old mainframe programmer and have started learning VB and find it a whole new world. I am not able to get my example code to work to access an Access database through automation. I might not have the correct Jet 4.0 engine. The specs I have are: MSJet40.dll, Dated 7/13/2009, Prod Ver 4.00.9756.0.
