Marquee ProgressBar With BackGroundWorker/

Nov 26, 2009

I've got a form that has a ProgressBar on it. The Style is set to Marquee. In the Form.Shown event handler, I call BackgroundWorker. RunWorkerAsync(). In the old version, while this is occurring in the background, the ProgressBar is scrolling, which is exactly what I want.I copied over not only the code from within the file (i.e., the logic code) but also the code from the designer file. So, from what I can tell, there should be NOTHING different between the two files. However, in the new version, the marquee scroll doesn't occur.

Forms :: ProgressBar ProgressBarStyle.Marquee Not Working

Dec 11, 2010

I have the following sub that displays the progress (the Animation speed is 50 - but I've tried with other values)

[Code]...

I should mention that the control is created dynamically and placed on a dynamically created TabPage that in turn is added to the main tab control that is on the static form (Form1) that is refreshed - but I do believe that 'Refresh' should ripple though to all sub controls?

Marquee Style ProgressBar Not Displaying With BackgroundWorker?

Sep 14, 2010

I'm using Windows XP and VB.net 2005. I've search for information on how to use the BackgroundWorker to display a ProgressBar during a process and thought I had it correct, but appearently I don't - the bar never shows, much less moves. My goal is to have a Marquee Style progress bar display while my code is looping thru a query result populating a datatable that a DataGridView is binded. Here is my code.

Custom Progressbar As A User Control - Get The Ocx Or Dll File

Nov 13, 2010

I made a custom progressbar as a user control. And I have only been working with forms 'n classes. As you all know, when you create a component in class, it gives you the dll file for the custom component or whatever you made so you can use it on any program. On my custom progressbar, I don't know how to get the ocx or dll file so I can use it on my other programs. OR.. if this is even possible lol. If you could help me on this, that'd be great. And I don't know how to make a custom progressbar out of a class, only user control, so if you could teach me how to make a progressbar out of a class, then that'd be awesome too.

Draw A Custom Icon Into A Tooltip?

Apr 4, 2010

Not a single site anywhere, and I have even tried the MSDN, that details in any specific language how to draw a custom icon into a tooltip.

I have tried using every format of image I can produce, including (but not limited to) ICO, PNG, GIF, BMP, JPG etc... But every time, the app debugger clouts me round the head in defiance.. Windows Vista CAN do it.. and as in the image above.. StarDock figured it out..

I know your policy is to have the askee produce their code first, but the thing for me is

Also, I wonder if it would not be possible to take the code that does do the whole shabang, and compile it into a DLL or something that I can just embed for future projects - again this can be uploaded for others to refer to.

Draw Text On Custom Control?

Dec 23, 2009

I have made a custom control and the only change to the interface is that its a different color. Whenever the user moves their mouse over the control some white text fades in in the middle of the user control. Then after a few seconds the text fades out. The text is actually the location of the cursor but I have that figured out.

Draw Custom Buttons On Windows Vista / 7 Aero Titlebar

Nov 7, 2010

I found this question on StackOverflow. Basically, the user wanted to draw custom buttons on the titlebar. I tried the code and realised it works in vista/7 only when Aero is disabled. My question is, is there any way to draw custom buttons on the titlebar while aero is enabled? Any way of reading information from the current theme so I can style my buttons to match the already existing ones.

Here is a screenshot from my computer demonstrating the above concept. I got the additional titlebar buttons after installing DisplayFusion. And I know DisplayFusion is a .NET program because it opens in .NET Reflector. The down side is that the program is obfuscated. Not like I wanted to decompile the program or anything; I just want to add a button to my titlebar to do something else (like minimise to the system tray for instance).
Below is the screenshot, proving the program is a .NET app.

Custom ToolStripItems Painting - Draw Graphics Without Calling The Refresh Method?

Nov 11, 2011

I have created a custom ToolStripProgressBar. It is basically a class inherited from ToolStripStatusLabel, and i paint the 'progress' bar myself (just a simple rectangle). I have tried creating a custom ToolStripProgressBar using different methods including inheriting from both ProgressBar, ToolStripProgressBar and ToolStripControlHost. I always ran into difficulties doing in this way. Inheriting from ToolStripStatusLabel works well, but with one issue...

In order to have the progress bar update in the statusbar, i have to call StatusStrip.Refresh. Trouble is, adds a huge overhead to the drawing of the progress bar graphics. Simply calling the invalidate method of my ToolStripStatusLabel does not seem to render anything to the screen. how to have my graphics draw without calling the refresh method?

Title Bar Of Your Application Be A Marquee ?

Sep 5, 2009

Is it possible to have the title bar of your application be a marquee? The only way I know of to make a marquee currently is this:

Public Class Form1
Private Sub Timer1_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Timer1.Tick
Label1.Left = Label1.Left - 10

[CODE]...

All that does is make "Label1" move from right to left across the form.. is having a marquee in the title bar possible?

Create A Scrolling Text Marquee Control?

Aug 27, 2004

Intent: To teach the user how to create a control that scrolls text at an adjustable speed across the control. What you'll need:Visual Studio.NET (2002 or 2003) - The version I built this with is 200325 Minutes of free timeI don't remember what prompted me to create this control, except that I was sitting at my desk one day and thought to myself?

1. First open the Visual Studio IDE.

2. Select 'New Project'.

3. From the project languages, select 'Visual Basic'.

4. From the project types, select 'Windows Control Library'.

5.Once the initial project has finished loading there's a couple of things that you may want to do first. The first one being, change the control name to something that means something. "UserControl1" just won't do, so in the 'Solution Explorer' right click on the "UserControl1.vb" file and click 'Rename'. Without removing the '.vb' file extension, type the name of the control. In this case lets call it 'ScrollingMarquee.vb'.

6. Now back to the control design area. Add a timer control to your project from the toolbox. Set the enabled property to 'True' and set the interval to 100. Right click on the control area (the actual control itself, not the timer) and click on 'View Code'. This will take you to the code area of project.

7. Enter the code as is written displayed below.

Code:Imports System.DrawingImports System.Drawing.Drawing2DImports System.ComponentModel
Public Class ScrollingMarque Inherits System.Windows.Forms.UserControl
#Region " Windows Form Designer generated code "

[code]....

Just want to make sure that each time we move the control or resize it,'it re-renders correctly.Invalidate()End SubEnd Class8.Next select 'Build -> Build ScrollingMarquee'.9. Once you have any bugs worked out (there shouldn't be any, but in case there are), you can change the build mode to release and rebuild the control for use in your projects.

Determining What Objects Fall Within A Selection Rectangle (marquee)?

Nov 10, 2010

I'm writing a program that (amongst other things) provides an IDE-like environment for the user where they can select one or more objects with a rectangualr selection tool. All selections will be a simple rectangle, and all selectable objects will be simple rectangles as well.I already have the code (VB.Net) to create the rubber-banding effect visually - what I need is an efficient algorithm that will tell me what objects have at least a portion of their area within the final selection rectangle.
