Dynamically Populating CheckBoxList On Databind Event?
Apr 6, 2009
PROBLEM OVERVEIW: everything "runs", it never crashes, it populates the checkboxlist on the page, it even calls BindCheckBoxList during the databind but it never checks the boxes.
I have debugged and stepped through the stop points comments are below.
FRONT END CODE:
<asp:CheckBoxList ID="CheckBoxList1" runat="server" AutoPostBack="True" DataSourceID="AccessDataSource2"
DataTextField="Abbreviation" DataValueField="Abbreviation" OnDataBinding="BindCheckBoxList" OnSelectedIndexChanged="BindCheckBoxList">
My _PrefillWizard method actually works for all the controls on my page except for those which are dynamically populated. The CheckBoxLists are such because they are automatically generated based on selectable values in a table in my DB. I already have this control in my markup like so... how do I force this to load and be ready before running my other code?[code]...
I am working on a weboage that will display questions and answers (maybe 5 at one time, maybe 7 at another time) returned from a database table. The questions will each be displayed in a div and the related answers displayed in another div. The question will have an icon "Show Answer / Hide Answer"
How can I go about creating a div and then populating it with values from a table?
Let's say I have a DropDownList of product categories and a ListView of products based on the category selection in the DropDownList. When a user visits the page, there is a possibility of conconrency issue as new product belonging to a new category may be added to the inventory as the user is browsing. When the user selects a different category to view(a SelectedIndexChanged event) and causes a postback, I want the DropDownList to update the list of categories to include the new category being concurrently added and at the same time still able to make a change of selected index.
I have a vb.net website with a gridview that currently has exam questions displaying vertically in each row like this:
Name question answer ----------------------- Joe question1 answer1 Joe question2 answer2
[code]....
But I would like to change it, so that each question is a header, like this:
Name question1 question2 question3 ---------------------------------- Joe answer1 answer2 answer3 Jill answer1 answer2 answer3
This makes it more readable since each user is only listed once.I would like to stick with a gridview instead of rewriting all my code.I am actually binding my data to the gridview via some other programmers class. I am using LINQ like this:
Before any jumps in and says, Why dont you just use a gridview, i have my reasons not to use it.I trying to dynamically create a table and then populate the cells via a linq object.
Good news, i can dynamically create the table and the cells. Dim numrows As Integer = MyActions.Count() Dim numcells As Integer = 5
I have a large form of 16 rows, and 5 columns of comboboxes. Three rows will be filled with the same information as a list of about 20 items. Two rows contain the same information of only 5 items.
I have a GRIDVIEW with columns, one of which contains a CSV of possible values for the dropdown that must appear on each row.
Private Sub GridViewParameters_RowDataBound(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.GridViewRowEventArgs) Handles GridViewParameters.RowDataBound If e.Row.RowType = DataControlRowType.DataRow Then[code].....
Depending on whether the type of control is a dropdown, textbox, or check box (feined in the table) it hides or shows the relevant control type. If it is a dropdown it needs to get its values from a CSV in a corresponding column. I have a SP that returns a these in table form if passed the id of the relevant row.How do I get that is from the gridview to pass to the drop down and load it correctly?
I am trying to create a basic quoting tool but got stuck on how to clear and change the item collection from within a combobox for a datagrid. What we have is a list of 4 columns like a. Device b.TypeofService c.State d.Price Inside a sql database. Data is also structure like above as well.
I have a datagridview where the user will populate a,b,c and the price will be display and a total at the end. However a,b, and c aren't related in my current application. The combobox will show all possible dinstinct values for each column.
This works fine but I want to refine the application to only show the values of b. which are in the database after the user select the value for a. I have tried searching on how to do this as I assume to the Contry/State/City situation but could not find anything for a datagridview control in VB.NET.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? If I cannot do this dynamically from within a datagridview I was thinking of maybe creating three combo box outside and having it populating the datagridview afterwards but it wouldn't be as nice.
I have a page that has two dropdownlists(one for the locations, and the other for departments), an employee search textbox and a button. On the other page, I have a gridview. Now, what i want to archieve is that when a user types an employee's name in the textbox control, selects a location from the location dropdownlist, and a department from the departments dropdownlist, and click the button(search), the gridview on the other page must show the reqiured information of a SINGLE employee. Only one row must show.
I have created a database for the employees. I know how to do this with the autopostback but i have not tried it using a button's click. NB: the gridview should show only one row of a selected employee. I'm using ASP.NET VB
I am populating the DropDownList ddlItems in the Page_Load event. I am then changing the current selection of the DropDownList in the Page_Load event but the dropdownlistbox.SelectedItems aren't firing up. Can anyone please help me? The dropdownlist keeps on repopulating and I cannot stick with one value that I have selected. Here's a screenshot of the problem.I want to have the value LK00260 selected when I PostBack.Instead of having to see "Add New Item" everytime I postback OVER AN OVER AGAIN.
[code]...
I don't want 'Add New Item' to show up everytime I repopulate the box. Instead, I want a value that I have selected such as 'LK00260'. Can anybody please help? I have AutoPostBack set to true already.
I have a form that I am adding a set of buttons to. I am adding an event to those buttons. I need this event to function slightly to determine what button was pressed.I need the button to simply set a string variable equal to the clicked buttons text so I can determine what button was pressed. How can this be accomplished?
'' 'Adding the buttons '' For Each dr In dtMenus Dim strMenuName As String
I have a TableGridLayout (6 x 6) which host 36 buttons created at design time. From the 36 buttons, only a handfull maybe needed at anyone time depending on data retrieved from an SQL database.Everytime I need to 'clear' the grid to populate with new items, I clear the text of each button, make it visable if required and then upadate with the new text.On every pass if a button becomes active, I add an event handler to the button like this.[code]...
I would like to ask a question with DataGridView event handling. The event I am going to handle is the double-clicking of a cell in a DataGridView:If the DataGridView's are statically drawn on the form at design time, then it is easy to assign to each of them an even handler by double clicking the corresponding event in the properties panel.
I'm not seeing anything about event handlers for dynamically created controls.. and I could have sworn I had once before. I did see one post about the topic, but it was just replied by asking for some posted code, so as in a preemptive move..
Private Sub buttonCreate() Dim newbutton As New Button newbutton.Height = 39
[CODE]...
Here's what I'm trying...
Private Sub newButton_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles newButton.Click
End Sub
Here's the errors I recieve...QuoteHandles clause requires a WithEvents variable defined in the containing type or one of its base types
I have a problem in handling the events for dynamically created controlsI am creating a combobox and a textbox dynamically when i click a Button1 for each combobox there is one corresponding textboxso the number of times i click Button1 i will get that many number of comboboxes and textboxes.i have added an Event handler to handle the ComboBox_SelectedIndexChangedWhenever i click any of the combobox the above event is triggered. So far it is working fine. Now comes the problem i have to get the selected item for each combobox in the appropriate textbox
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click combobox1 = New ComboBox
I'm adding multiple combobox controls to a form dynamically, but am having a problem with one of the event handlers. The first event handler I've added (for the Leave event) fires, but the second (for the TextChanged event) does not. I've tried reversing the order when adding the handlers and I get the same results (TextChanged does not fire). Here's a code snippet for adding the controls, and the code for the events. I've added a breakpoint while testing to verify - but it never hits the code.
Dim cbo As New ComboBox cbo.Name = "cbo" & fldName cbo.Tag = fldName.ToUpper cbo.Top = rowtop cbo.TabIndex = tabOrder cbo.DropDownStyle = ComboBoxStyle.DropDown [Code] .....
I'm having a problem with a Web Control that is dynamically created and inserted in my page. I create a couple of LinkButtons, depending on the data of the search that was made, and I'm trying to add an Event Handler to each of the Buttons, so it would filter the result. The controls are initialized properly, but the event is never fired.
Private Sub Page_Init(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Init Controls.Clear()
I'm creating an online exam page with 30 radiobuttons that are created dynamically at runtime. How will I get the click event of each radiobutton and tag it in my method that I will check if the next question is need to be jump or escape. Example: If I'm in question 10 and answer = "Yes", redirect me to Question 15, else go to the next question
The 'AddressOf' expression has no effect in this context because the method argument to 'AddressOf' requires a relaxed conversion to the delegate type of the event. Assign the 'AddressOf' expression to a variable, and use the variable to add or remove the method as the handler.
How can I move AddressOf into a variable and reference that in RemoveHandler? I can't find out how to declare a delegate.
I am trying to dynamically create a LinkLabel for my windows form (using vb.net 2005). Here's my It's creating the link; however, I'm having problems creating an onClick event for the new link. When the user clicks, I want it to open the file.
Is it possible to dynamically direct a particular control's event to use a predefined method. For example.I have a form which I dynamically add controls to, let's say, TextBox1,TextBox2 and TextBox3 and a module which as 3 routines, Method1, Method2, Method3. When I dynamically add my controls, eg TextBox4, I want to choose which of the 3 methods I want mapped to which event. . Dim objTextBox1 as new TextBox dim NameOfRoutine$="Module.Method2" Form.Controls.Add(objTextBox1)[code]........
I am passing some values from a Gridview Update Click event to a popup ASP.net page that dynamically builds a series of textboxes in a Placeholder based on the number of sentences that are found in a specific cell of the Grid Row selected. The boxes that are built represent each sentence found in the cell of the selected row. Each sentence is presented for translation, where user enters data into a 2nd dynamically generated textbox. This all works great. Now I have a Listbox beside the 2nd textbox, which sometimes has 1 or more variables that need to placed into the translated sentence. I have set up a Hover menu over the listbox so that I can select the variable and insert it at the end of the sentence in the 2nd textbox. My problem is generating the click event on the dynamically created Listbox. Something like....
Protected Sub ListBox1_SelectedIndexChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ListBox1.SelectedIndexChanged TextBox1.Text = TextBox1.Text & ListBox1.SelectedValue
i just start programming in asp.net i struggling to add event handler dynamically. here is the scenario when the aspx page is load a link button is add with an event handlerpage load add link button and event handler with link button
Dim products As New LinkButton products.Text = "Products" testPanel.Controls.Add(products)
